Mario Bros. 2

So, um, what proof do we have that it's from Animal Crossing? I had initially thought it was a Mario Bros. 2 item due to it working similarly to the turnips in that game, but with seemingly no dispute outside of that one IP over it being an Animal Crossing Item, I ask again, where is the proof? This is from [1] this list of trophy descriptions on the 3DS version, and I'd take it with a grain of salt since it's all text, but it seems to imply that it is indeed from Mario Bros. 2: "This special grass first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, where plucking it revealed hidden items.
