Mario Bros. 2

So, um, what proof do we have that it's from Animal Crossing? I had initially thought it was a Mario Bros. 2 item due to it working similarly to the turnips in that game, but with seemingly no dispute outside of that one IP over it being an Animal Crossing Item, I ask again, where is the proof? This is from [1] this list of trophy descriptions on the 3DS version, and I'd take it with a grain of salt since it's all text, but it seems to imply that it is indeed from Mario Bros. 2: "This special grass first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, where plucking it revealed hidden items. Add this in Trivia?

Would it make sense to add the fact that in Training Mode, if Grass is continuously spawned, it would be like an indicator for where it can appear on-stage in Smash modes?
