Does anyone know the frame window between tapping a direction and pressing attack for a Smash Attack to occur? Does it vary by character and/or direction? Would be useful information to add to the article. :Well, I know that in Brawl, you have to push the stick 80% sideways in 5 frames to f-smash, and 66.25% vertically in 4 frames to u/d-smash, but I can't find how long after that you can press the attack button to get a smash attack. I think with f-smash it can be anytime before dash turns into run, and for u-smash it can be anytime before you jump off the ground, but for d-smash I have no idea. ::So it does vary by character then? It's based around the animation lengths? If its the jump animation for up and the dash animation for side, its probably the duck animation for down. I vote we get rid of the categorization of 'technique'... it's simply another type of attack - Ashran111 02:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's a really, really basic technique. More than just hitting a button, I guess? FyreNWater - (Talk • Contributions ) 06:56, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

- That is because the grab button isn't actually a grab button, but rather a button that inputs both a shield and attack. As such, you can attack with the "grab" button when you're unable to shield, including doing smash attacks with it. Omega Tyrant 02:20, 16 July 2011 (EDT)
