Article on Wikirby | Waddle Dee |
Waddle Dees (ワドルディ, Wadoru Di) are the main inhabitants of Dream Land. Many of the Waddle Dees are also affiliated with King Dedede. They are most common regular enemy in the Kirby Series. They first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land and started appearing in just about every game after that. Waddle Dees are noticeable because they have no real form of attacking. They simply just walk around and sometimes leap into the air. Because they're so weak, most Waddle Dees stay out of Kirby's way and just walk around peacefully.
For the most part, Waddle Dees behave the same way in each game. However, many variations of the species exist, such as Waddle Doos. In some cases, Waddle Dee exists as a playable character, as well.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
A Waddle Dee appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Trophy description
Many delicate creatures like this one inhabit Dream Land. They generally live carefree lives and have never considered themselves to be followers of King Dedede. Waddle Dees are innocent and generally harmless to man and beast. While they have virtually no offensive or defensive power, they'll sometimes try to wield a parasol.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Waddle Dees are the standard projectile used in King Dedede's side special move, Waddle Dee Toss, and in his Final Smash, Waddle Dee Army. After being thrown, they "waddle" across the stage, and will do one of three things while they walk: trip in place, stumble forward, or jump upwards. When a Waddle Dee jumps, any opponent in its jumping path will receive a small amount of damage and knockback (similar to when a thrown Waddle Dee hits an opponent). During King Dedede's Final Smash, the Waddle Dee Army, the Waddle Dees will fall then quickly run across the stage, knocking any opponent in their path in the direction that they were running. Four Waddle Dees carry King Dedede on a palanquin during his entrance.
In the Subspace Emissary, Waddle Dees appear in the last scene of the The Battlefield Fortress, where Luigi is frightened by their presence. Suddenly, Luigi is attacked from behind by King Dedede, making him become a trophy. King Dedede places Luigi on the road as a bait for Wario, who is coming down the road. Wario is ambushed by several Waddle Dees while Dedede steals his Cargo and the trophies.
Waddle Dee also appears as a trophy and two stickers.
Trophy description
A carefree creature that wanders the hills and dales of Dream Land. Basically harmless to creatures great and small, Waddle Dees sometimes use parasols to float down through the skies. If Kirby swallows a parasol, he'll get one he can use to float or ward off enemy attacks. On the other hand, Kirby can't copy anything by swallowing Waddle Dees themselves.
Hacking
Hacking in the enemies file package of the Brawl disc has revealed data that appears to have been made for Waddle Dee, suggesting that he was planned to be included in the Subspace Emissary as an enemy.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Waddle Dees appear in Smash Run, a 3DS-exclusive mode, as enemies. They drop power-ups when they are defeated. Parasol Waddle Dees also appeared.
