== | ==Dragoon Parts vs. Smash Ball== | ||
Normally you'd think that the Smash Ball is superior for sure, but the Dragoon Parts can be very accurate, and are pretty cool. However, you still need to collect all three pieces. The Smash ball, of course is very cool, but for some characters, it has downsides, ie Marth, and some characters don't have very good smashes, like Peach. What do you think? This forum has the purpose of helping to select what battles will eventually take place in the Smash Arena. If you would like to make a suggestion, please feel free to leave it here. New suggestions are placed at the bottom of the page. Be sure to state your reason you suggested it and put the support, reject, and comments sections underneath it.
Like the idea? Be sure to give it your support. Note that this page is not to be used for the actual voting between fighters; that happens in the Arena itself. Remember, the combatants don't necessarily have to be able to fight each other normally in Smash Bros.
Rules
- The SA operator(s) has final say over all the fights. Suggestions and comments are merely a way for the community to influence the fights.
- Sign your suggestions/votes/comments with ~~~~ and a # in front of it (you don't necessarily have to put # in the comments sections, but you do have to sign with ~~~~).
- Don't vote for your own suggestion. You automatically vote for it if you suggest it.
- Do not post more than one suggestion at a time. Each user may post one suggestion per week.
- Post why you support/oppose. Don't just say, "Oh, this is a cool idea". Explain why you like/don't like the fight.
- You can remove your own suggestion, but it still counts as your suggestion for that week.
- Similarly to the above, you cannot edit a suggestion once people have started to vote on it. Editing the description is fine; just don't replace, add, or remove combatants.
- Place new suggestions at the bottom of the page. If you place them at the top, they may be lost.
- Do not use this page to argue with other users over their reasons and opinions. You can civilly point out an inconsistency or mistake in their description, but if you say things like, "That's stupid", that could potentially start an argument in the comments, you are breaching this rule.
- The comments section is to be used for relevant comments.
- Check this list to view the fights that have been done. Repeat fights are permitted if they occured 100 rounds ago.
- Suggestions are purged every time a new Smash Arena round is posted. It is at this time they are either accepted and placed into the queue, or they are rejected. Not all suggestions are purged at once.
- In the vein of the above, do not repost a suggestion of yours that has been removed, since it's either already lined up or been rejected. Reposting it after time has passed is generally a bad idea, since if it's already in the queue it's a waste of time, and if it was rejected the first time chances are it will remain that way. See the Queue section for an idea of how long it may take for your suggestion to show up.
- Only Smash Bros.-related fights are permitted. Fights don't have to be between playable characters, but the combatants must have appeared in at least one Smash Bros. game.
- Acceptance of fights is not based simply on votes. The votes are used to judge the community's opinion of the matchup; again it is solely the operator(s)'s decision on what the bouts are.
- If there are already 10 open suggestions, you should probably reconsider adding a new one. If there are 15, it is highly recommended you do not. There is no limit to the number of open suggestions, but having too many clutters the page and makes it more difficult to keep track of.
- And finally, do not make this page into the Smash Arena itself. This is for deciding what goes there, not voting on which would win.
Queue
The current queue is as such:
257 | 258 | 259 | 260 | 261 | 262 | 263 | 264 | 265 |
Hover the cursor over a round number to see its predicted start date. Empty spots are shown in grey.
When the queue becomes full (all the grey spots are filled up), suggestions will be suspended. You may continue to vote on current suggestions, but no more may be proposed. Once the queue drains out to a size of one, suggestions will be re-opened.
The queue is not set in stone; new suggestions may appear before older ones and it may change at any time. The queue is designed to attempt to balance out fights so that participants or universes aren't used too much in a short time.
The contents of the queue are a secret to maintain mystery and intrigue.

- HAHAH Probably not, but since when was doing things by the rules fun?--Shaun's Wiji Dodo talk 09:26, 23 August 2011 (EDT)
This is a rather tricky one. The letter of the rule says that SA competitors have to have appeared in a Smash Bros. game (implying they must be in-game assets), which would invalidate this; on the other hand, I see no reason to disallow it should the support be there. Of course, the second problem is that a round with these two would probably have a low amount of "legit" votes, seeing as the average SA voters probably doesn't give a crap about competitive play and may have only heard of either of them, and thus wouldn't be a good idea without some other bouts at the same time to keep interest up (which typically only occur every 25 rounds). Toomai Glittershine The Undirigible 10:15, 23 August 2011 (EDT)
- Yes that is very correct, some users might find this boring unfortunately. But if this suggestion does get passed, somehow, it could just wait till a multiple fight round unless the majority of support votes have something stating they don't want it to... like having Individual bout on the ends of their votes. That could work right?--Shaun's Wiji Dodo talk 10:33, 23 August 2011 (EDT)
@Mr. Anon: How does Ally make Brawl look bad simply by using top tier characters, when the best players of essentially every competitive game do? I agree Mew2King does, but that's due to his antics at tournaments, rather than his character choice.
@Reidemon: How are the two best Brawl players not high profile enough? I guarantee Ally and Mew2King are more known than Aniki is. Omega Tyrant 13:44, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
- Wrong choice of words, I guess. Mostly, I'm referring to the absolute best in the game, with no doubts. Ally, as said in his own article, is said to be struggling in recent times, and Mew2king strikes me more of the technical player than a competitive one. They may be famous, sure, but I don't think they're the best representatives for Brawl.
- I'm not completely familiar with the wide competitive scene for Brawl, though, so if my thoughts are incorrect...well then, they probably are. But hey, this forum is just for suggestions, so I decided to put my two cents in. ReiDemon 18:29, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
- Ally struggling? He just won KTAR6 a week ago, and was either winning or running up in previous regionals/nationals. And in Brawl, these two are currently the absolute best, which is the basis for Dodo's suggestion. As for how good of representatives they are, it's pretty irrelevant, though I think Ally is a pretty good rep (Mew2King on the other hand...). Omega Tyrant 18:59, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
Speaking of blindcolours saying something bad about competative smashing, I clearly don't know why blindcolours hates competitive smash although I thought he mained meta knight one time, but I do agree that he does not like it when I ask people to brawl, aka. I use Pikachu, Fox, Meta Knight. So this practically makes me a tier lover, and I think that everyone want fun smashing, not competitive smashing like blindcolours. ..... I think so.... Since Samus held the record for the most projectiles in Melee (ok tied with link), if this fight was put up, would it have Samus' Melee or Brawl picture? --107.5.57.137 06:53, 25 August 2011 (EDT)
Note that while this is a good idea for a fight, in SSB64 Samus did NOT have the most projectiles (nor did Link). That title was held by Kirby, who had 3 or four projectiles, depending on the definition (final cutter, horizontal star shot, vertical star shot, and copied projectiles). Mr. Anon (talk) 11:25, 25 August 2011 (EDT)
- @107.5.57.137 - Samus from Brawl. You could say she's out to avenge her lost rank or something to that effect.
- @Anon - While that's true, it's only situational, considering that the star spit only works as an effective projectile if there are more than two opponents. I've never seen Kirby shoot a star upward, by the way, but I'll try it out whenever I have time. Regardless, vertical or horizontal, the star shot is one projectile move. King Dedede vs. Olimar
Dedede uses Waddle Dees in his side special and FS, whereas Olimar uses Pikmin in almost all of his attacks. Dr. 8-Bit (talk) 16:56, 26 August 2011 (EDT)
Support
- I know everyone will oppose this, but they are similar and contrasting in very interesting ways. King Dedede is one of the largest, heaviest, and strongest characters, while Olimar is one of the smallest, lightest, and fastest. Yet both of them are relatively close to eachother tier wise. Furthermore, both Pikmin and Waddle Dees have similar characteristics, as both of them move around and can be killed. Mr. Anon (talk) 18:07, 26 August 2011 (EDT)
- I'll support this based on the fact they both throw their minions at opponents, as well having among the best grabbing games. Olimar is also one of Dedede's worst matchups, so this has a competitive appeal too. I will say however, Anon is wrong when he claims Olimar is one of the fastest characters (his movement is slow, and while attack speed is fast, it isn't among the fastest). Dragoon Parts vs. Smash Ball
