Event 37: Legendary Pokémon is an Event Match availible in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
After the match
In this event, a player must defeat 4 giant Wire Frames and a Jigglypuff. Each has 2 livesThe only item that will appear is the Poké Ball. Every Poké Ball holds a legendary Pokémon or a Wobbuffet. The only character on the other team who can use a Pokéball is Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff can only pick up and use Pokéballs. All the Wire Frames attack the player's character. The goal of this event is to defeat both Jigglypuff and the Wire Frames.
After you finish the match for the first time, you'll fight Pichu at the Pokémon Stadium.  You both will only have one life. Pichu fights just like Pikachu, but is even smaller and faster. Defeating Pichu successfully will allow you to use him as a playable character. If you lose, you'll have to redo the event match to get another try.

Strategies
Jigglypuff should be the first character the player should KO. Jigglypuff can be easily defeated by using the Poké Balls. The Wire Frames should be dealt with last. A good Pokémon like Moltres and Lugia will KO the Wire Frames fast.
The player can also use Ganondorf's no-glitch Cruel Melee strategy to kill the Wire Frames besides Jigglypuff in the beginning. Go to the edge, wait, down smash when they all come down, then go to the Poké Balls.

The world record strategy involves the use of Mewtwo's Confusion pull-through glitch, wherein if Confusion is used on a standing opponent as Mewtwo falls by the platform the opponent is standing on, the opponent will be pulled through the platform. Use this glitch to kill as many wireframes as possible throughout the match. Ignore the first Poké Ball, as it almost always contains a Wobbuffet, but grab the second before Jigglypuff does.

Trivia
*During the battle the music for Poké Floats plays.
*Even though the title of the event says "Legendary Pokémon", you can still damage the enemies normally.  It's just the Pokémon will do most of the damage.

spoiler
Beating this match will unlock the secret character, Pichu.
