Scizor (ハッサム, Hassam) is a creature in the Pokémon media franchise.
Origin
Scizor is a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #212 as the "Pincer Pokémon". It is one of the final evolutions of Scyther as it evolves when traded while holding a Metal Coat. It also gained a Mega Evolution in Generation VI.
Metal Claw is a Steel-type move with 50 base power (which, in the world of Pokémon, is quite weak), 95% accuracy and a 10% chance of raising the user's attack by one level. Scizor can learn it in every game.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Scizor, when summoned by a thrown Poké Ball, uses Metal Claw as its attack. Scizor runs forward for a short moment, then jumps straight up and falls down, eventually off the bottom of the screen. Its role is similar to Hitmonlee's in Super Smash Bros; any character that makes contact with Scizor will take heavy damage. Scizor also forces characters to the top of the screen if they make contact with it. Scizor's attack does not harm the summoner.
Trophy
Scizor features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 150+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches.
- Scizor
- This Scissors Pokémon, the evolved form of Scyther, has arms ending in large, strong pincers with distinctive eye-spot markings. It's unable to fly very far with its undersized wings, but it can affect its body temperature by flapping them at high speeds. Its sleek look has made Scizor quite the popular catch among collectors. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
As a background character
Scizor does not return as a Poké Ball Pokémon, but instead cameos in the background of Kalos Pokémon League when the stage is in the Ironworks Chamber.
Trophy
Scizor's trophy is exclusive to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It is part of the Pokémon Gold & Pokémon Silver Trophy Box.
- Scizor
- Is that a three-headed monster?! No, wait... the left and right heads are actually claws! Creepy. Most creatures that have face-like patterns use them defensively to give themselves a chance to flee. Scizor throws that idea away and uses them to scare foes while it attacks!
- It may look like this Pokémon has three heads, but that's just what it wants you to think. Look closer and you'll see that two of them are actually claws. Most creatures with face-like markings use them to scare predators to give themselves a chance to run away, but Scizor seems more likely to attack while its foe is stunned!

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Scizor returns as a Poké Ball Pokémon. When summoned, Scizor dashes forwards and jumps around, slashing multiple times with its claws. When finished, it makes a gesture and quickly flies away. It also still appears in Kalos Pokémon League, and because of this, it cannot be summoned from a Poké Ball there. In addition to this, Scizor cannot appear in King of Fighters Stadium and Minecraft World.
Spirit
Scizor also appears as an Advanced-class primary spirit.
Scizor can be summoned using the cores of Zebesian and Sidestepper.

Trivia
- Scizor is the second Poké Ball Pokémon to skip an installment, the first being Meowth.
- In the Pokémon series, Scizor has gender differences. Scizor in Ultimate resembles a male, which has a smaller abdomen than a female. Scizor in Melee retroactively resembles a female; gender differences were not introduced until after Melee's release, and prior to this, all Scizor resembled the female form.
