Scizor (ハッサム, Hassamu, Hassam in original Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Scizor is a human-sized, humanlike red metallic Pokémon with a mantis-like configuration and wings and crab-like pincers. The Pokédex states that it has a body with the hardness of steel, so it is not easily fazed by ordinary sorts of attacks. Its wings are not used for flying; it flaps the wings at high speed to adjust and regulate its body temperature. In battle, it swings around its eye-patterned pincers to give the illusion that it has three heads, which intimidates foes. The pincers of steel can crush into bits any hard object it gets a hold of.

Scizor is the evolved form of the mantis-like Scyther, evolved when Scyther is traded to another trainer while equipped with a Metal Coat item.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Scizor, when summoned by a thrown Poké Ball, uses Metal Claw as its attack. Scizor runs forward for a short moment, then jumps straight up and falls down, eventually off the bottom of the screen. His role is similar to Hitmonlee's in Super Smash Bros; Any character that makes contact with Scizor will take heavy damage. Scizor also forces characters to the top of the screen if he/she makes contact with it. Scizor's attack does not harm the summoner.

As a trophy

Scizor features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Scizor:
This Scissors Pokemon, the evolved form of Scyther, has arms ending in large, strong pincers with distinctive eye-spot markings. It's unable to fly very far with its undersized wings, but it can affect its body temperature by flapping them at high speeds. Its sleek look has made Scizor quite the popular catch among collectors. (Pokemon Gold & Silver 10/00)

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Brawl, Scizor did not return as a Poké Ball Pokemon. It was replaced by Latias and Latios who attack together at a faster pace and broader range.
