A Bucculus (ブチュルス, Bucculus) is a parasitic enemy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary, and first appears in The Lake level. A Bucculus looks like a plant with large, red lips and a purple poison zone on the back that looks like a strawberry. It appears as lips on the ground. If one goes near it, it will pop up making cartoon-like "boing" noises and attack by kissing the player, filling up its poison zone and causing massive damage. On the higher difficulties, it can inflict over 150% in two seconds; it could also try to carry the player past the blast lines for a guaranteed KO, but it's easily avoided. If a Bucculus misses its grab attack, it will bounce around. After a few seconds, it will plant itself again. If a Bucculus with a filled poison zone is killed, it will most likely drop a Maxim Tomato, but occasionally drops Food otherwise. The player does not need to weaken a Bucculus to turn it into a trophy with a trophy stand.

Trophy description
A Subspace Army enemy found firmly planted in the ground, with only its lips showing. These lips, by the way, are covered with spikes that stick in its victim to... (Get this!)...suck out vitality. Basically, this results in serious damage. The torso area has a poison zone where it stores vitality. The Bucculus not only looks offensive-- boy, it's rotten to the core.
Trivia
- When a Bucculus sucks a character's vitality, it makes a slashing sound and animation.
- A player can heal themselves with a Bucculus by letting it sap their health for a bit and then knocking it out. If the player is able to escape before the Bucculus gives 50% damage, the player can KO the Bucculus and receive a Maxim Tomato, healing more of a percentage than the damage given.
- Bucculus attacks in a similar way to Leap, an enemy from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. The differences are that Bucculus inflicts more damage, as it drains energy, and it resides underground rather than in the air.
- In Subspace (Part II), the translucent terrain allows the player to see the body of a Bucculus that is still buried.
