In response to [[Special:Diff/1293817|this reversion]]:
*Sans isn't the only one to state what his or others' appearance is based on. Not counting his own brother, who also refers to himself as a skeleton, we have Flowey introducing himself as a flower; Undyne being called a fish by the narrator and other characters; Napstablook, Mad Dummy and Mettaton calling themselves ghosts; Muffet calling herself and her assistants spiders; and the list goes on. In other words, what they call themselves does not dilute the fact that they are all monsters.
**Additionally, there are no other subclassifications for monsters other than Boss Monsters, which are given to Toriel and Asgore (as in the first point, they're given this title despite being likened to goats alongside Asriel). Thus, saying Sans is a "skeleton monster" is inaccurate.
*As explained in the game's introduction, both humans and monsters lived on Earth. The idea of a monster having knowledge of the Sun is far from outlandish (especially for Boss Monsters, who lived for far longer). Undyne even mentions the word "sunlight" before Sans speaks in the very same cutscene, confirming this point.
*Finally, {{h2|SW:NOT|SmashWiki is not speculative}}. Relying on theories and other unofficial information to assert a point is discouraged and should thusly be avoided (the page has a message warning editors for this reason, specifically of a theory which also uses Sans' knowledge of the Sun as an argument). The most unexpected reveal yet...

I do not even know how DLC pack 5 will compete with this. Enigma (talk) 19:40, September 4, 2019 (EDT)

Console of origin

I'm not sure what determines a "console of origin", but for completeness, here's a list of all platforms Undertale has been released to:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Apple Mac OS X (read: not Macintosh)
  • GNU/Linux (support added in later update)
  • Sony PS4 (first console port)
  • Nintendo Switch (second console port)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Vita, too. Whoops, I suppose everyone forgets the Vita after all.

AntyMew (talk) 23:09, September 4, 2019 (EDT)

We use the first console releases for the game. For example, Undertale was released on Windows and OS X first before being ported to other consoles. SuperSmashTurtles (talk) 23:12, September 4, 2019 (EDT)

3D

Can someone add that this is Sans’s First 3D appearance? 174.55.24.64 00:22, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

This is just a costume so it probably doesn't count. Supα Toαd 64, The Best MK64ToadCSP.jpg 00:59, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

I can add it if you want. I have a direct image from the trailer SamuelTheAdept (talk) 03:56, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

if i could edit it i would add it smh Smashsans (talk) 10:47, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

so many things I wish I could add

3D model png, trivia, and maybe even MEGALOVANIA if I could figure out how Smashsans (talk) 10:50, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

I'm assuming you're a new user. The reason is because this page is protected so only autoconfirmed users may edit it. The reason for the protection is because of vandalizers filling the page with Sans memes and trollish references to that Sans is Ness "theory". Supα Toαd 64, The Best MK64ToadCSP.jpg 21:57, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

when would i be able to edit it? Smashsans (talk) 22:51, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

You will become autoconfirmed after you have been a user for 7 days and have made at least 10 edits. You can read more about it here. Supα Toαd 64, The Best MK64ToadCSP.jpg 22:36, September 6, 2019 (EDT)

Fire (aka Flowey fucking dies)

In the reveal trailer, Sans uses Flame Pillar on the yellow Piranha Plant, which we already agreed is a reference to Flowey. The attack might be a reference to when Toriel launched Flowey away with a fireball, although I might just be reaching. Since it's a bit of a stretch, I'm going to put this here until I know if the community agrees or not. Crazy456Rhino (talk) 15:27, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

Something else I noticed is how when Sans is fighting two villagers, referencing Frisk and Chara, it may be possible that this is also a reference to the pacifist route in Undertale, because Villagers, in their main series, don't fight, and to execute the pacifist route, the player must not fight any enemies. Also this is my first time contributing to a talk page, hopefully i'm using it right XD FizzyChalice (talk) 06:13, September 6, 2019 (EDT)
Don't worry your using talk pages correctly. And also that is an interesting point you have. Supα Toαd 64, The Best MK64ToadCSP.jpg 07:30, September 6, 2019 (EDT)

The Slippers

Interesting thing to note: Sans has never officially worn pink slippers. He wears slippers, yes, but in the game's colored overworld sprites, they are colored white. His slippers being Pink was something that fans started to decide and several pieces of fanmade merchandise followed. This marks one of the first times an Official version of Sans has pink slippers. That'd make good trivia if anyone could edit that in. User:SirSomeguy

Ness

Sans in Magicant is also a reference to the Ness is Sans meme. 174.201.23.233 21:31, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

It most certainly is not. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Gamer Leave a message if needed 23:38, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

nah. only cuz undertale was inspired by earthbound Smashsans (talk) 22:52, September 5, 2019 (EDT)

Actually they have a fair point. We know for a fact that Toby Fox is well aware of the meme and considering he has played with Sakurai, it's entirely possible Sakurai was also made aware of the joke. Toffolus (talk) 00:42, September 6, 2019 (EDT)

Yeah it's not entirely out of the question. At the very least Undertale was inspired by Earthbound and Megalovania first appeared in an Earthbound hack. --Meester Tweester (talk) 19:27, September 6, 2019 (EDT)
