Team Rocket is a villainous team that debuted in the first generation of Pokémon.
Origin
Team Rocket is a crime organization led by Giovanni that operates in Kanto and Johto and focuses on Pokémon theft and experimentation for profit and world domination. The main character in the Kanto games encounters and battles the grunts throughout the journey, including Mt. Moon and Saffron City. Although initially disbanded after defeating Giovanni, the team would later return in the Johto games, where the team resurfaces in the Slowpoke Well and attempts to reach out to Giovanni to rejoin the team by taking over the radio tower in Goldenrod City.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The Team Rocket Grunts appear as a Mii Brawler costume for Ultimate as part of Wave 3, using their designs from Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.
Trivia
- The Team Rocket Grunt costume marks the first time a human Pokémon character is directly playable in Smash, albeit only through their costume; the Pokémon Trainer fights using three Pokémon in their stead.
