YES PLEASE
This has been a pretty small rumor for awhile. Idk if it's past that stage yet. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 12:55, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Then we wait for it to get popular, and if not, we don't add it. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Wandering Space WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 13:05, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Seems to be gaining speed. Time to add the "Rumors about future games" section back? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 15:13, 28 January 2016 (EST)
It's been gaining enough press to warrant it. Wouldn't hurt. Miles (talk) 15:28, 28 January 2016 (EST)

Reconsidering the Lucina hoax.

Since I'm a genius and thus don't need to double check things, I did not notice this discussion that took place about half a year ago.

While I do support the majority of DatNuttyKid's proposal, the Lucina hoax should still be featured on the page.

I'll address the claims brought up on the original proposal. DatNuttyKid's claim that the Lucina hoax was not widespread is true, especially given how the image was debunked within hours of it being first posted; regardless, the implications of the leak are notable, akin to how Wikipedia had a page on Pat Venditte even though he had never played a major league game, due to his presence having modified the rules of baseball. As outlined in the now-removed text, it demonstrated how Brawl hacks were sometimes used to create hoaxed images. Now, this wasn't just some flash-in-the-pan realisation where people thought about it and forgot about it about two minutes later; cross-checking was actually done for quite a while after the image. I know at least one post on AllIsBrawl attempted a similar hoax with Roy a few months after the Lucina hoax (which I can't find, probably because the post was deleted, the user changed his or her name, or, more than likely, the site just turning into shit; I think I might have the image somewhere on my HDD, but we'll see), and during the original ESRB leaks, some users in the original threads and YouTube videos initially believed the leak to be a hoax by claiming Shulk's moveset was a hack of Ike's moveset in Brawl. As outlined later on this page, the Palutena rumor was also cross-checked with Brawl hacks.

Furthermore, the original author of the proposal also claimed that Omni's Rayman renders the Lucina hoax moot. Apples and oranges, Lucina hoax was Brawl-based and Rayman was...whatever the hell Artsy Omni used-based shenanigans. And this ignores the fact that when something is notable, it remains notable; if we're going to remove informationthat has been superseded, then why bother having articles on Gematsu leaks?

Anyways, I've said my piece, I'm off to kick Mega's arse in OJ.

Midgar Music Rumor

I realize it would have been better to bring this up before Midgar came out - Jesus, it's almost been one whole year - but I still think it's better to mention it later than never. This image popped up at least once or twice in my Facebook feed a few days or so before the December Direct; is it at least worth mentioning? AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Thankful Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 20:25, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Final Fantasy's series symbol is different there... better than the "FF" it uses now. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbysCrazyAppetiteSig.png 20:31, 7 November 2016 (EST)
Given that it never got any significant press, it probably doesn't qualify. Miles (talk) 20:35, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Smash for Switch additional info + Melee port

2016

So there's been a rumor going on since the past 24 hours regarding:

  • Additional information about Smash for the Nintendo Switch.
  • How the Switch is getting GameCube virtual consoles, and that one of them is Melee.

Sources are here and here.

Credible, or be patient about it? :| Hylia's Eye (talk) 22:01, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Think we should wait until the system comes out. Serpent SKSig.png King 22:33, 8 December 2016 (EST)
While I'm not sure if it's credible for not, this rumor has attained a lot of attention. Twitter has blown up about it and multiple notable gaming and non-gaming news outlets have reported on it including IGN, Polygon, GoNintendo, Nintendo Insider, The Daily Star, GameSpot, Source Gaming, Eurogamer, and GameXplain. Since SSBWiki already has the "Smash for the NX" section, I don't see why we can't have this one. Pokebub (talk) 16:45, 10 December 2016 (EST)

Just going to make a change to the date; it was the 6th that the rumor was past. The 12th was when I read it (whoops!). :P Hylia's Eye (talk) 11:16, 27 December 2016 (EST2

2017

Hey, I have more information about the rumor! Apparently, the release dates for certain Nintendo Switch games (including Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch) was leaked online. More info here; please let me know ASAP!

Before this gets lost

I saw this pop up a few times in my Facebook feed recently. Thoughts? AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Irish Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 20:49, 9 March 2017 (EST)

Seems like as-much guesswork. Reminds me of when the rumor of a Shovel Knight amiibo was taken as "confirmation" that he'd be in Smash, when it was just an amiibo for his own game. Given that it hasn't gotten a lot of press or proven anything decisive, I think we can skip covering it. Miles (talk) 20:53, 9 March 2017 (EST)
I wonder if it's a scrapped character or something. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbysCrazyAppetiteSig.png 20:58, 9 March 2017 (EST)
Saw it yet again, and I saw another site cover it as well. Any thoughts on its credibility now? AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Irish Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 14:51, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
I'm not understanding this. If it is a Smash amiibo, why is the name "??????" if the other DLC characters had their names on there Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbysCrazyAppetiteSig.png 14:59, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
Because we don't know who it is. It's an unknown character set to be a Smash amiibo. We have no idea who it is; it could possibly hint at a Switch port akin to Mario Kart 8. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Irish Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 15:08, 14 March 2017 (EDT)

Screenshots for the Switch port?

Real or fake --ComJay (talk) 13:50, 30 May 2017 (EDT)

Fake. There's a few ways you can see this. First of all the screenshots were in Japanese on 4chan but Bowser Jr. is using his English name. Second of all the screenshots show 1p and 2p whilst in the English version it's p1 and p2 so it's using a mixture of English and Japanese. Finally the font is wrong [2]. I'd reccomend waiting a bit to see if it's notable enough but personally I don't think it will be. BSTIK (talk) 14:25, 30 May 2017 (EDT)
Also if you look closely, the character models are from the 3DS version, which doesn't make much sense for a Switch port. Zyrac sig.png Zyrac(talkcontribs) 17:09, 30 May 2017 (EDT)

I'll say one thing, this is creating a bit of a buzz on the internet. Operationgamer17 (talk) 14:57, 30 May 2017 (EDT)

Logo trademark?

I've heard that Nintendo filed a new logo trademark for SSB back in 2017, should this be added to the section on the switch port? GoldenJay

The source on the Shovel Knight Rumor came out and, we’ll, it turned out to be a mess up. Should we add this to that? https://www.twitter.com/Toadsanime/status/978650176847056897 Operationgamer17 (talk) 19:25, 28 March 2018 (EDT)

Move the rendering engine leak to the Leaks page?

I was thinking we should move the recent rendering engine leak to the Leak page. The Leak page is exclusively for confirmed leaks only. This appears to definitely be legitimate considering it came from the engine developer himself. I'd like to see if anyone has any comments or opinions on this before I go ahead and move it. Response to the mode leak thing

The "mysterious man" was Death from Castlevania, and I'm fairly certain that that one thing has no real significance. The rumor about what the mode is is fine though.

Namco Worker Rumor

One of the fake leaked things was "a PlatinumGames representative, possibly from The Wonderful 101" while not from 101 Bayonetta is PlatinumGames (I think) so should that be mentioned? 72.133.91.93 10:36, 14 August 2018 (EDT)Blueflame105

That isn't worth mentioning for a few reasons. 1. That rumor is false. 2. Bayonetta was added as DLC, AFTER the game was originally completed, so she wouldn't have been known about before the game was done. 75.141.57.33 20:28, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

It wasn't any different than other render fakes that are made and shared around. Box Theory

So... no mention of the box theory that's been making the rounds on Smashboards and GameFAQs? --Luigifan18 (talk) 10:19, 17 September 2018 (EDT)

Theres also no mention of mayonaisse theory so i assume this article is for not retarded rumors.

I want to point exactly how is Amazon Boxart Theory is any different from the Best Buy Canada "Amiibo Unlocks Characters" rumor, despite the latter is a "legitimate" and not "retarded" rumor? They're both pretty much the same thing. In that both are major retailers that are claiming never before heard information. Best Buy Canada is basically claiming outright that "Amiibos unlock characters", despite the US counterpart isn't making that claim. Amazon displays a never before seen edited, placeholder boxart on the Special Edition which strongly suggests that there is only 72 characters, in a pattern that strongly suggests that an echo fighter of either Ken, Medusa or Ms. Pac-Man is one of the two remaining characters. 70.66.200.81 21:06, 20 September 2018 (EDT)

So this is the supposed leaked picture that everyone's talkin' about, Ken's model looks fake but look at Pac-Man's shadow, and compare to this picture from the demo and compare Pac-Man's shadow in demo picture to the leaked picture, the shadow glitch could possibly make the leak real, should we put it in? Square Enix Rumor

This rumor, separate from Vergeben, has been going on for some time now, I feel like it's fitting to add it into this section, however I cannot find the original source. I'm just going to place it here for now because I want to put it in, but I need a source to "vertify" it. SugarCookie420 (talk) 19:30, 17 October 2018 (EDT)

How about we leave the page as is for now and actually discuss the notability of this rumor before the edit war gets worse? I'd personally say that it 100% deserves to be on here; it reached the top of the Smash Bros. and Nintendo Switch subreddits and has gained plenty of attention on SmashBoards and 4chan. It also hasn't been debunked, as all the artwork seems original and the nature of the leak makes it difficult to disprove otherwise. Nyargle, given the history of the Wendy's Twitter, I wouldn't necessarily say that catching their attention is particularly noteworthy. It's funny nonetheless, but it's about as important as Arby's making an ad on their social media. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 14:38, 24 October 2018 (EDT)

Speaking of the Banner rumor, I would like to propose an edit: removing the line "which only supports the leak's validity," since the picture could've just been placed there to make the leak seem more valid. SugarCookie420 (talk) 18:53, 24 October 2018 (EDT)

It's from the upcoming Grinch movie, and because it's from (supposedly) an artist who was showing off stuff he did, it may have been intentional. That's my two cents, though. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 18:59, 24 October 2018 (EDT)

Please also add in the "Trys to debunk" part that these debunks might be a try to conserve the leak, and that many users do their best to debunk the 'debunks'. -81.218.171.51 10:59, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

I'm Thinking 2 out of all new Fighters of the leak will be True for the Next Direct (Ken and Shadow) and they are going to be Echo Fighters to Sonic and Ryu and i think there's three more fighters for the Direct and one of them is a Pokemon the other 2 are from a new Playable Universe i'm thinking Arms and the Last Direct which is in the Day Before the Release Octoling going to in smash as Inkling's Echo Fighter no idea for fighter #71 but let's not Spoil it Starfan13 3:42, 25 October 2018

I feel like we should wait, as I've recently made a page on the extremely popular Vergeben leaks, but general consensus decided that it was unnecessary. Plus, it's still a relatively new leak/rumor so I think we should wait. SugarCookie420 (talk) 18:07, 26 October 2018 (EDT)

There’s a couple of things you should add/change: for change where it says “It was also revealed by French graphics company Marina PLV that the leaker used to work for them, and left the company in 2016[32]; this, while true, was countered by the fact that the company the leak came from is ACP-PLV, where the leaker currently works.” You should change that to say “This lead people to believe this is where the leak came from because this is where the leaker currently works.” Now for the stuff to add. You’re absolutely right. Pokémon are more like creatures than individual characters and are referred to as “it” in any media that feature them. Even if you were to argue that Pokémon should be referred to by their gender pronouns when their sex is known, we do not know what Smash Pichu's gender is. Unlike Pikachu, there aren't any observable differences between male and female Pichu. Someone should fix that. Nintendo101 (talk) 12:25, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

Golden Sun Growth item leak

Accidental leak caused by Nintendo of America's October 25 tweet.
A still image of the leaked Growth item from Golden Sun.

On October 25th, 2018, Nintendo of America released a new video for their college tailgate tour featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as their game. In the video, during the 0:27 mark, an item can be seen on the far right end of the video for a brief second. This item was later identified as the Psyenergy known as Growth, from the Golden Sun series, confirming there is some element of the series within the game."

It's not 100% certain that this is the Growth Psynergy, since there are some differences from how it's depicted in Golden Sun (most noticeably, it has a white stem where the Growth Psynergy has a green one). It could be a reinterpretation of the Psynergy for 3D, but considering its resemblance to the Healing Field, it could also be an entirely new item. There's not much solid evidence right now. It's still worth adding to this page, though. DryKirby64 (talk) 22:44, 25 October 2018 (EDT)
DryKirby64, the only thing that's similar to the Healing Field is the plant shape. There's not really anything else in common. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 11:08, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
I would argue that the item looks just as dissimilar to the Growth Psyenergy. I think the written article is too declarative in it being from Golden Sun. We do not actually know for certain.Nintendo101 (talk) 14:24, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
In what way is it dissimilar? Both are shaped the same way. And I also noted how it could very well not be the Growth Psynergy, so it's not like I was saying "this is definitely it". Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 14:35, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
It's not that it's dissimilar to the Growth Psynergy, it's that the "two-sprouted leaf" symbol is very generic in video games and could resemble any number of things. It could summon a Mobile Sprout, for all we know. That's why it feels a bit too declarative calling it the "Growth Psynergy leak". DryKirby64 (talk) 15:33, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
I probably should have phrased it better. I'm not saying the item looks nothing like the Growth Synergy, it's just that it looks like an infinite amount of generic sprouts, so a direct association with Golden Sun doesn't make too much sense to me. Why is it in a orb? It's just a sprite in Golden Sun. It looks just as much like a piece from Puzzle Dragon as it does the Growth Psynergy from Golden Sun (admittedly with a different sprout design, but at least it's in an orb). I feel like the only reason why it's being tied to Golden Sun before anything else is because Isaac is in a contested "leak" that dropped a few days ago. Nintendo101 (talk) 16:12, 26 October 2018 (EDT)

(Reset indent) If you ask me, given how many people are connecting it to Golden Sun (not just because of the leak, but for various other reasons), I don't think it's out of place to mention the similarities; that said, name me one item that looks like that from another video game that A. comes from a franchise that has a realistic chance of appearing in or has already appeared in Smash and B. would work as an item in Smash. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 16:24, 26 October 2018 (EDT)

A Floro Sprout from Super Paper Mario that acts like Manaphy's Heart Swap? A Mobile Sprout that walks around the stage like Magicant? An entirely original healing item that's linked to the sprout on the Healing Field? Plant symbols aren't entirely unique to Golden Sun; I'm not saying it's not worth mentioning, but it shouldn't be the main focus of the entry. DryKirby64 (talk) 16:45, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
I would also add that the item itself being leaked belongs in the leak page. What the item is is more speculation than a rumor. VoqéoT 16:48, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
I'm fairly sure we're using the Castlevania music leak as the basis here; it'll go to the leak page once we know for sure what the item is. DryKirby64 (talk) 16:53, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
That was the intention: it's going on here until it's confirmed. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 17:05, 26 October 2018 (EDT)

Skull Kid Potentially in the Banner Leak

A lot of people have debated over this, but should we point out that Skull Kid is possibly in Grinch Leak too? Many people claim to see him in front of Mach Rider. Some say it's his headlights, which are not two big circles. There is also the detail how said spot you can roughly see the horns and shape of Majora's Mask, and there is something purple and something a whitish yellow next to him. These could be Tatl and Tael, further pointing at Skull Kid in the banner. I am not sure if I am on team real or fake when it comes to the banner, but I am convinced that Skull Kid is there infront of Mach Rider. Maybe after listing the character that we know are in the Grinch Leak, we could just add 'add possibly Skull Kid from the Zelda series' --Solgalillie (talk) 20:08, 29 October 2018 (EDT)

I'm going to tackle this in a way this echoes (no pun intended) what we did for the shadows back in March: people see what they want to see, but if it's explicitly there, then we note it. That said, if this banner leak holds true, and Skull Kid is indeed where what others presume to be Mach Rider's bike's headlights are, then the section covering this whole situation will be properly updated. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 20:29, 29 October 2018 (EDT)
If you can find a good source, then definitely. It's not that I don't trust you, but I don't see a lot of debate on this, at least on Twitter. As for Aidan's response, I believe that since this is a rumor and not speculation, Skull Kid should be added. SugarCookie420 (talk) 20:32, 29 October 2018 (EDT)

Some users have pointed something about a reference in Deltarune, the new Undertale sequel (yes its real), about Smash could possibly be a leak about a fighter from the Undertale universe (Sans being most popular)

This is a minor-but-still-important rumor but we have included some small rumors still so...

Edit: Also, the website for Deltarune says the thing in the picture below, and we will have a Smash Direct close to that time...

Of course, this was made not NOW but before some hours

Other edit:

This (https://twitter.com/MimiqueVEVO/status/1057727633096507392) is a source for the reference —Preceding unsigned comment added by Play Dash (talkcontribs) 16:22, October 31, 2018‎

I removed this. It's less of a rumor and more like people jumping on an unrelated reference due to the timing of the game's release. Toby likely put the references in the game just to put the references in the game, rather as a way to "leak" Undertale representation in Smash. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 17:23, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
I agree. I don't see any connection whatsoever between the Deltarune teaser and Ultimate, especially when it's purpose (as far as I know) is to hide a secret beta copy of Deltarune. SugarCookie420 (talk) 18:09, 31 October 2018 (EDT)

Spirits leak

Should the entry about the leak of the name of Spirits mode be transplanted to the Leaks page? I know the guidelines state that examples shouldn't be removed when proven true, but this one's kind of just "someone figured out a thing before it was officially revealed," isn't it? Crittler1000+ (talk) 01:37, 5 November 2018 (EST)

No because Loz18 didn't leak it so this site thinks its totally fake completely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.56.148.18 (talkcontribs) 20:29, November 12, 2018‎

https://imgur.com/gallery/YWn2LgQ Should we discuss this one? Apperantly this was datamined from the Smash site, and the art of Impa and Zeraora look pretty inline with the rest. Not only that, but unlike the Grinch Leak, there is no blur at all to this one. --Solgalillie (talk) 18:41, 24 November 2018 (EST)

First of all, the whole base roster has been revealed, and DLC characters have been finalized two weeks ago, so it's improbable that this leak is true.
Second, the artwork of Impa and Zeraora is taken from their official artwork as posted here, so it's pretty much a guaranteed hoax imo. SugarCookie420 (talk) 18:45, 24 November 2018 (EST)
To be quite frank, any leak with Zeraora in it, to me, is absolutely fake. On top of that, that uses Impa's Hyrule Warriors design, and any Dynasty Warriors-related spinoffs from a Nintendo series have yet to be acknowledged in Ultimate. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 18:46, 24 November 2018 (EST)

Nintenderos Placeholder rumor

Pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks it should've been removed a while ago. It's confusingly redacted, and the rumor itself died out (and contradicted itself) pretty quickly. Also, the guy who added it keeps insisting it stays. (DangerMD (talk) 13:43, 12 December 2018 (EST))

Split the Vergeben section into a new page

Vergeben's section on the List of rumors has too much going into it, that we may as well make this into a separated page so that the Vergeben section is more streamlined for our readers. Support. sans {talkcontributions) 16:35, 16 December 2018 (EST)

Yeah like that'll happen when they dont want to acknowledge he was right and make up him claiming the square rep would be first... They'll give Loz18 a page before then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.56.148.18 (talkcontribs) 00:43, 18 December 2018 (EST)

We make pages for popular leakers. Don't get all pissy about it. We do it whether they're right or wrong. All that matters is they're popular. That said, I don't know why we don't have a Vergeben page yet, since it is the Gematsu of Smash Ultimate. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 00:47, 18 December 2018 (EST)
And also, IP, what do you mean we "made up him claiming the Square rep would be first"? Vergeben literally said it himself: "The Square Enix character. I can vouch is definitely happening and the first DLC character at that." We're not saying he's fully right right now because he isn't; correct past leaks we list were 100% correct. Vergeben did get a lot right, sure, and a lot of what he said was confirmed in the November Direct, but that doesn't mean that he's automatically a Smash prophet and everything he says is the word of God. Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 00:56, 18 December 2018 (EST)

and Loz18 is? I must not have unlocked Skull Kid then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.56.148.18 (talkcontribs) 19:42, December 20, 2018‎

Watch it, IP. Loz18 got more stuff right initially, and that's why they're up on the leaks page. Vergeben had yet to have many of his claims proven true, and he got them correct at a time when everything was busy, because the game went gold and we got a lot of information at once. Hell, we're still gathering information now because we sure as hell don't have everything. So how about, instead of bitching to us about, for all intents and purposes, a very minor page, you help out with the rest of the wiki instead? Aidan, the Festive Rurouni 20:55, 20 December 2018 (EST)

Hello, I compile and fact check rumors with not only DasVergeben but even other notable insider outlets that seems to agree with his rumors based on what they have on their end. (i.e. Hitagi, Xenother, Sabi/PolarPanda, some private outlets with ResetERA connections, etc.) To be more clearer, i am not an actual insider but more of a witness eye instead.

I, personally, do think Verge deserves a page based on mostly his Smash rumors he has provided (right or wrong) and I can help lend all the sourced claims for citation as well. And if there's going to be a page, we might have to include rumors and the people that agree or cooperated with whatever. (kinda like how Ninka/Vaanrose fueled the ESRB leak)

and to IP, there's already a new and earlier 5ch rumor (dubbed as the DOOM leak) in making supporting everything what the later 5ch rumor said and could help resolve why Vergeben and other insider outlets assumed the S-E rep/possible Erdrick was first in line. (which could already be assumed its pushed back due to Reggie's request to get Joker out earlier for a TGAs reveal) ZenythSmash (talk) 12:30, 31 December 2018 (EST)

I have the Vergeben page typed and scripted. Now all I need is someone to help me add some finishing touches to it so we'd move the Vergeben info to a new page. -- PanchamHeadIconFanart.png Pancham (talkcontributions) 15:32, 31 December 2018 (EST)

The Dragon Quest/Persona 5 Stage Rumor and "Skills"

So I was reading the most recently listed rumor, and I was confused by what the "leaker" meant by "The stage will have so-and-so appear on the screen with a skill." What do they mean by skills? It'd be nice to know what this jargon means. CardboardLuigi (talk) 21:49, 20 December 2018 (EST)

I'm guessing like a spell or something. Like Jack Frost popping up and freezing you, or Slime doing whatever it is Slimes do. I pretty much get what it means but we could stand to change the phrasing. Crittler1000+ (talk) 00:08, 22 December 2018 (EST)

When Leakers Mention a Specific Square Enix Rep.

So more than a few of the "leaks" on here bring up that there will be another Square Enix rep, while mentioning who it "might" be. (I.E: A Square Enix rep will be DLC, and my sources say it might be Geno.) If Nintendo reveals a SE character, but it isn't the one the leak said "might" be in, would it be considered debunked or not? CardboardLuigi (talk) 19:06, 4 January 2019 (EST)

It would probably stay here, mentioning that the leak was technically correct but may have been a lucky guess. Most of these leaks predict other things, too, so if those came true more directly, then it would be a safe bet that the leak was legitimate. TheNuttyOne 20:25, 4 January 2019 (EST)

Removal of certain rumors

I've had this discussion on the Discord server and several people seemed to agree, but it'd of course be wrong to not bring it up here. So here are the rumors I think we should remove and the reasons why:

Brawl

Rumor Reason
Radio interview rumor Looking back at it (and I could be wrong), this rumor didn't seem that widespread to begin with and the idea of Sakurai releasing info in a radio interview doesn't seem very plausible.
Brawl is the last game rumor Pretty sure we have confirmation from Sakurai that every Smash game is developed as if it was the last one. It seems to just be game development philosophy that they practice.

Smash 4

Rumor Reason
Lucina hoax Not very widespread outside of AllisBrawl. Not that I'm discounting the popularity of AiB, but I don't think we should keep localized rumors here.

Ultimate

Rumor Reason
Richter/Gardevoir/Gothitelle leak Again, not too widespread outside of maybe GameFAQs. There is one video that received around 40k views, but these are a dime a dozen with literally any leak and the thirsty and oblivious portion of the Smash community.
LaPailleDor Leaks Relatively obscure leak outside of Smashboards. Was disproven a little bit less than a month later.
Nintenderos Placeholder Rumor Also relatively obscure leak. Also simply theory crafting about a strange occurrence on the website. The Kirby and Kid Icarus instances also contradicted the main theory anyways.
Nintendo Event at Arcade MTL Same situation as Nintenderos. People assumed that a big reveal (or watch party) would occur at a random arcade in Montreal. There was no basis to this rumor other than wishful thinking.

So yeah, I'd appreciate hearing some thoughts and opinions on this. Pokebub (talk) 20:44, 4 January 2019 (EST)

I definitely support this. The page is very cluttered and in desperate need of some trimming, so this would be a very good move. Kbimbatti22 (talk) 00:44, 5 January 2019 (EST)
I wouldn't be against the removal of some of the less well-known ones. Some of them (especially some of the ones for Ultimate) were kinda dumb anyway. CardboardLuigi (talk) 08:15, 5 January 2019 (EST)
I'm in support of removing several of these leaks, however, did the IP Address user had the right to remove the sections per consensus tho when only 3 users are for removal? Just wondering, because I kinda thought it required more votes for them to be removed. -- PanchamHeadIconFanart.png Pancham (talkcontributions) 16:04, 5 January 2019 (EST)
I also support the removal of the rumors listed above, as some of them I never heard before and I doubt are really well-known outside of one website. But seeing how the IP already removed them, I guess this is pointless unless it gets undone. WolfBloodSpam (talk) 17:19, 5 January 2019 (EST)
I support removing only the ones from Ultimate, seeing as the Lucina rumor helped set the standard for comparing if it was actually a real update or not, similar to the Palutena hoax, and the Brawl rumors were actually a bit well-known at the time. --Tailikku (talk) 09:07, 6 February 2019 (EST)

Brave Instagram Post

There's a small edit war going on with this piece of trivia:
"On February 4th, 2019, Super Smash Bros. supervisor and HAL Laboratory employee Shinya Kumazaki made a post on Instagram showcasing a number of photos of Kirby next to Erdrick's shield from the Dragon Quest series. The post reads: "The brave's shield. そして伝説がはじまった! (And thus, the legend started!)" This has lead many fans to speculate that Kumazaki is referring to the DLC character datamine that uncovered the codename "Brave" hidden away in its data, as Erdrick's Hero class, or "Yuusha," can also be translated as "Brave.""
I'm not sure whether this should really stay, because while other articles have talked about this, it's a big stretch and somewhat ambiguous. SugarCookie420 (talk) 20:30, 5 February 2019 (EST)

More people in the edit history were in support of keeping the trivia than removing it. Considering gaming websites were discussing it openly, it was worth keeping as a rumor. It's no more of a stretch than some of the other 'leaks' on the page. Funny that this was removed for not being an 'official reveal', but the Sora one was fine. Seems a bit of a double standard here. IPDude (talk) 22:05, 6 February 2019.

? Crocodile Dippy 2 (talk) 10:44, 6 February 2019 (EST)

They derived the reasoning for removing that rumor from one of my edits without knowing the context of why I said it to begin with- someone tried using that to definitively conclude who "Brave" was on the Datamine entry. I thought it was sound at the time, but if I knew people were going to be using that reasoning in edit wars, I would've never said it to begin with.
Plus as Miles From SmashWiki put it, Kumazaki-san's role as an original game supervisor is to make sure the Kirby content is represented correctly, and is otherwise not involved with the development of the game. CardboardLuigi (talk) 11:27, 6 February 2019 (EST)

The Sora one wasn't an official reveal, but it was made to seem like it was; people didn't know what Hashimoto meant when he said "yes" (did he mean "yes, he's in!" or "yes, we want him in!"?), so speculation arose.
In regards to this, we have a supervisor from the original Smash 64 team posting an image of Kirby and the shield from Dragon Quest, for seemingly no reason; in tandem with the caption and the recent datamine (that was patched out in 2.0.0), people are speculating as to whether or not Erdrick is actually in the game now. Both of these are rumors that should go on this page until confirmation (in which case they'd be moved to here). Aidan, the Rurouni 15:22, 6 February 2019 (EST)
