Cloud (クラウド, Cloud) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was confirmed on June 12th, 2018. Cloud will once again be voiced by Takahiro Sakurai in all versions of Ultimate, albeit with recycled voice clips.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Aesthetics
- As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Cloud's model features a more subdued color scheme. His clothing features subtle detailing.
Attributes
- Cloud's Limit Break gauge is shown next to his character HUD.
Ground moves
- Dash attack can now hit opponents that are hanging on ledges
Aerial moves
- Neutral aerial has an altered animation with reduced range.
- Up aerial no longer has a hitbox during the sword's initial ascension. This increases startup and prevents it from hitting grounded opponents.
- Down aerial does not auto-cancel as early.
- Back aerial has 3 frames less landing lag
- Forward aerial has 7 frames less landing lag
- Neutral aerial has 4 frames less landing lag
Special moves
- Cross Slash has a sleeker design inspired from Dissidia Final Fantasy instead of the brush-like strikes from Smash 4.
- Limit Cross Slash's strikes slow down significantly against shield.
- Finishing Touch has a smaller hitbox.
- Limit Cross Slash has lowered knockback.
- There is now a wider window for Climhazzard's downward slash to snap on to the ledge.
- Climhazzard's downward slash has less endlag.
- Limit can be fully charged by dealing 150% instead of the previous 250%
- Cloud may not voice out once he manually obtains a full Limit Charge.
- A fully charged Limit Break will lose its charge if it is not used within 15 seconds.
- If Cloud takes damage while charging Limit Charge he will lose limit instead of gain it.[1]

Trivia
- A section of Cloud's trailer pictures him using his side taunt with R.O.B. in the distance, who is promptly struck by either Pikachu's or Pichu's Thunder. This is a direct reference to magic-casting and its animation in Final Fantasy, with Thunder being a basic black magic spell.
