== Regarding competitive history pages ==

Two main things I want to point out:

#Brawl is more of a "closed" scene insofar as it's not particularly active anymore, making it a more workable subject to write about "historically" than an ongoing, current scene.
#This one's more of a personal foible, but I utterly hate the shorthand "Smash 4" and would prefer to see it be "SSB4" instead. I didn't really want to raise a whole ruckus over that one, so I thought I'd bypass it for a while by requesting Brawl instead. :v

[[User:Miles of SmashWiki|<font color="dodgerblue"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">'''Miles''']] <font color="silver">([[User talk:Miles of SmashWiki|<font color="silver">talk]])</font></font></span></font> 11:51, 15 November 2016 (EST)
:I was actually thinking about that myself, and I don't have a problem with that name. I was kinda wondering if we shouldn't just do like "History of competitive ''Smash'' (SSB4)" and convert the others accordingly or what. That would also solve the sticky problem that is the original 64 versions name. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 13:53, 15 November 2016 (EST)
:Also I see what you are saying about doing Brawl first, but to me it seems better to do the more "important" games first (being that Melee and Smash 4 are currently dominating (and will most likely continue to dominate) the scene). <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 13:55, 15 November 2016 (EST)
::Your points are totally valid as well. The "History of competitive ''Smash'' (SSB4)" kind of name would work as well, although at that point it's wordy enough that we almost would be better off finding a different way of naming it altogether... something like "''Super Smash Bros. Whichever'' in competitive play", maybe? :::We could just do "Competitive ''Smash'' (whatever)" I guess. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 14:57, 15 November 2016 (EST)

== Would you consider these [[SW:NOTE|notable]] at this point? ==

Hello Serpent King. :D

I would like to know if you personally consider ''Renegades'' and ''Luminosity Gaming'' [[SW:NOTE|notable enough]] for SmashWiki. I would like to break down the teams. Both of them have smashers representing two different games (both have an [[SSB4]] and a [[Melee]] player).

* RNG has {{Sm|Dabuz}}{{flag|USA}} and {{Sm|Swedish Delight}}{{flag|USA}} (the former notably being the most consistent ''Smash 4'' player)
* LG has {{Sm|Abadango}}{{flag|Japan}} and {{Sm|Ice}}{{flag|Germany}} (two of the best players in their respective games, bonus points for neither of them being American on a US-based team).

What's your opinion regarding Luminosity and Renegades? Also, sorry about the [[SW:NPA|NPA violation]] a while back. Thanks a million. --[[File:FXSig2.png]] [[User:Falcon-X|<span style="color:Red;text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px Red">'''Falcon-X'''</span>]] [[User talk:Falcon-X#top|<span style="color:Blue;text-shadow:0px 0px 5px Blue">'''('''''Freedom House''''')''' </span>]] 15:30, 17 November 2016 (EST)
:Not a problem, and a few things
:#You are using the Sm template wrong (there is no need for the flag template at all). Just do <code><nowiki>{{Sm|Dabuz|USA}}</nowiki></code> to get {{Sm|Dabuz|USA}} in the future. Thanks!
:#As for your question, I would seriously prefer that crews be limited to famous ones (like H2YL, Melee Hell, <s>MLG</s>, etc) <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 15:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)

== Hope I didn't make a headache for ya ==

In regards to the Knockback page, specifically the Melee Formula, I've tried to make it look more in line with the rest of the wiki and wanted to actually know if you think the RAW formula (how the game actually calculates it) should be on that page or if the simplified version I made should. You can see the differences here: [http://germonster.io/MeleeKnockbackSimplified.gif] and [http://germonster.io/MeleeKnockbackRAW.gif]. I kinda think the latter, more difficult to read, might be better to have just because it's more precise, and if anyone looks it up on here hoping to use it for a knockback calculator or to emulate Melee it would be better. But then again, if someone's just trying to look up the formula to get a rough idea of how the mechanic works and be able to easily tell what weights the formula the simplified version would be much better. You're the wiki pro so hopefully you can decide easier than I can. I'll check back here in a few hours! <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:Dippndots|Dippndots]] ([[User talk:Dippndots|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/Dippndots|contribs]]) 17:34, 17 November 2016 (EST)</small>
:I think the simplified version is enough. We definitely do not need two though. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 17:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)

::As it turns out, once you do enough math, the Melee formula ends up being exactly equal to the Brawl/SSB4 formula. So for simplicity I think it's best to keep things the way we had them before, with one formula for SSB64 and one for the other games. :huh. Ok wow I wasn't checking against that. Hey guys, can you take another look? The formula you have on there currently doesn't account for staled moves which the one I put up does. The smashboards post is here: https://smashboards.com/threads/melee-hacks-and-you-new-hackers-start-here-in-the-op.247119/page-128#post-20927705 - Staled moves can actually affect knockback n Melee [[User:Dippndots|Dippndots]] ([[User talk:Dippndots|talk]]) 20:02, 17 November 2016 (EST)
:Staled moves ''cannot'' directly affect KB in Melee, it's been proven. However since the damage dealt is a factor for knockback, staled moves will affect it that way. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 20:12, 17 November 2016 (EST)
::A very prominent modder who has looked at the assembly calculation disagrees. I don't mean to be difficult. Look at the formula I put there, it calculates both "Staled Damage" and "Unstaled Damage", not strictly the "damage actually done" value [[User:Dippndots|Dippndots]] ([[User talk:Dippndots|talk]]) 20:16, 17 November 2016 (EST)
:::One more difference, and this is something I have actually contested before: Your formula takes the current damage value before the attacks' damage is added, ours takes it after. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 20:24, 17 November 2016 (EST)
::::That's a mistake, I've been touching it up throughout the day and may have forgotten to do that here, you're right it definitely calculates victim's percent after the damage is applied. [[User:Dippndots|Dippndots]] ([[User talk:Dippndots|talk]]) 20:28, 17 November 2016 (EST)
:::::So the credibility of the formula in that link is no good then. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 20:34, 17 November 2016 (EST)
::::::I don't see how you're coming to that conclusion, I thought you were referring to the formula I uploaded not what Achilles posted on Smashboards, "current %" could very well be after the damage/percent are already calculated, or perhaps he just did't specifically state it because it's 2016 and everyone knows it already. If you want to keep the formula as is, by all means, but I would recommend reaching out to Achilles if you doubt his observations. == About Dragonfirebreath25 ==

Backup for DFB25: I don't think Dragonfirebreath25 did anything wrong, it may've just been a coincidence that a bunch of ban-evading IPs linked to his and that was only on Mariowiki. I've been down this road in the past I was framed for vandalism once before but it wasn't me it was just a younger sibling who obviously shared with my IP and I was back on. His edit appear to be good as well. == Master Hand's metal form in Melee ==

Master Hand does have a metal form in Melee. Do the Master Hand glitch in VS Mode with at least 1 opponent (human or CPU), set the Metal Box as the only item and pick Final Destination, as he works best there. Then all you have to do is to physically attack a Metal Box, which is easily done with D-Pad Down + A. == Smashers in other games ==

I get the notion that the wiki should be dedicated to Smash, but I really don't seem the harm in mentioning if a smasher has met notable success in another competitive game. Trivia sections are meant to be, well, trivial (sure, it's not directly important to Smash, but it's certainly notable for that particular smasher), and I have seen many trivia sections on other wikis with references to things not ''directly'' related to what the wiki is (the Smash wiki is the Smash wiki, of course, but I feel it's worth mentioning still), so I can't quite wrap my mind around not allowing one or two sentences regarding their accomplishments in another game. [[User:PokemonMasterJamal3|PokemonMasterJamal3]] ([[User talk:PokemonMasterJamal3|talk]]) 21:22, 2 December 2016 (EST)
:My main issue is that these points fall in the irrelevance category of [[SW:TRIVIA]] <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 22:22, 2 December 2016 (EST)
::I have to disagree with you there. It's still directly related to their competitive career (which is what more or less makes up the bulk of most smashers' pages), albeit in another game. I can't see how it's comparable to the "Despite moving like a human, Fox has a tail" example in any way. [[User:PokemonMasterJamal3|PokemonMasterJamal3]] ([[User talk:PokemonMasterJamal3|talk]]) 22:48, 2 December 2016 (EST)
:::It's a bad example. I just don't see any reason to cover other fighting games in any capacity, strike a few origin sections on Street Fighter for Ryu. We are SmashWiki, we report on Smash. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 00:19, 3 December 2016 (EST)
::::I agree that the current example on that page is bad, but I feel like the policy of "only Smash" is way too strict, at least in regards to the trivia section for smashers specifically. It's unrelated to "Smash", sure, but a top player making waves in another game (let's say they get Top 8 at EVO or something) warrants mention for ''their'' trivia section (one or two sentences won't detract from the content of the overall page). It's not an insignificant feat and still directly correlates to their competitive career. I contend that it doesn't violate the "irrelevance" part and I also don't feel like the current definition for it is well-defined regardless. ==Recent Widespread Editing of Player Secondaries==
Normally I would not go to an administrator for a problem but this I feel needs to be addressed; Poultry has been adding characters to Smashers' pages (such as by listing Yoshi as one of Duck's, MattDotZeb's, and WarriorKnight's secondaries) and it has gotten so out of hand and has been happening for the past several months. He's done this for many players and I've had to undo his edits at least a dozen times. If you could notify him or something then that would be appreciated as I am very much trying to keep the wiki as accurate as possible. [[User:RICEMANTOM|RICEMANTOM]] ([[User talk:RICEMANTOM|talk]]) 14:56, 14 December 2016 (EST)
:If they use a secondary AND win against a player in their region in tournament (no matter what it is), it is valid to add them. If they are known by many people for using them (such as on stream), exceptions can be made, but only few ones. That being said, if Poultry is adding them without taking into mind these things, yea an admin could notify him so that he stops. --[[File:BeepYouSignature.png|40px]] [[User:BeepYou|<font color="Black">'''BeepYou'''</font>]] [[File:BeepYouSignature.png|40px]] [[User talk:BeepYou|<font color="Black">'''(talk)'''</font>]] 17:31, 14 December 2016 (EST)
::First I am going to point out that it's not vandalism. Second, I disagree Beep. We should list the mains and secondaries depending on a) how good they are with the character, b) how often they use the character, and c) is the character just used for sandbagging. There is no steadfast rule for what determines the limits on each of these, and there shouldn't be. We have to use good judgement.

::Now as it happens, I have already [[User talk:Poultry#Mains|talked]] to Poultry about this because I had a few problems with the mains he was adding before. :::While I agree on those grounds (such as SFAT's Ganondorf and Duck's Marth), he's been adding secondaries that there is neither footage of nor any source to indicate they've even played the character at all. For instance, Renth, who I know personally, had Roy listed as a secondary yet he hasn't played Roy in any sort of setting, be it casual or competitive. It's not like this is a terribly pressing issue been it has been occurring a lot and isn't doing any justice to the wiki. == Corporate Patrick ==

Hey man, I'm new to this wiki, so I feel like I should briefly introduce myself. My name is Patrick Mitchell (aka Corporate Patrick) and I am a TO from Springfield Missouri. Someone posted on our Facebook page that soon after they updated the Melee PR that you deleted our page completely for noteriety concerns, siting that a top player in our region didn't have this on there personal page. This page was relatively new to my knowledge, so that's probably why. I also do not see why it constitutes deleting a whole page. We have some of the best smash 4 players in the state, and our top player Dr. B is one of (if not the best) players in Missouri, and has played several notable players in his career. I can provide the info needed and make sure it meets all your standards, just don't delete our page again. And next time, give us constructive feedback instead of just deleting a page all together. I don't mean that in a desrespectful way, I just know a lot of people in the community our upset with this.

Hope we can resolve this issue quickly.

:Hello and welcome! Typically for the United States, we only have state PRs, not city ones. There are some exceptions such as the [[Las Vegas Power Rankings]], but only because the state of Nevada has no PR. ...You say you have the best Smash 4 players in the state? If that's true, they should be [[Missouri Power Rankings|here]] on the Missouri PR...Although now that I look at it, the page does not feature Smash 4. Is there a Smash 4 PR for Missouri in effect, do you happen to know? <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt">'''[[User:Serpent King|<span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span>]] [[File:SKSig.png|16px|link=]] [[User talk:Serpent King|<span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span>]]'''</span> 23:31, 20 December 2016 (EST)

i was just wondering, why did you remove the character costume list on the melee 20XX mod post? not trying to make a big deal but i worked a while to make those.(NOTE:i did not put the original costumes for c. falcon or falco, i only did the pal versions for them. i did all the other ones though.anyways hope you can respond.bye

:This would make 20XX the only mod apart from PM to have a costume list. == Super Smash Con ==

Well basically all the smasher pages have "Super Smash Con" listed in their results, which leads to the disambiguation instead of the actual tournament page. So to fix that we either have to go to every smasher page and replace "Super Smash Con" with "Super Smash Con 2015" or create a "Super Smash Con" => "Super Smash Con 2015" redirect, which I felt was the better thing to do. [[User:Dimo|Dimo]] ([[User talk:Dimo|talk]]) 17:19, 25 December 2016 (EST)

Why did you delete this? I'm new here, so I didn't know what I was doing, but all you said was Nope, which doesn't explain why you deleted his page. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:27, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

Then perhaps you should check the previous delete reason :) Serpent SKSig.png King 20:28, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
I did, but what I did wasn't vandalism, so give me a real reason for the deletion. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:31, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
Yeah uh...vandalism isn't the only possible reason for deletion. It got deleted because cobi does not meet our notability standards. Serpent SKSig.png King 20:34, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
Not to make a fuss, but how is he not notable? He has over 1M subs, so he should be recognizable. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:38, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
But he doesn't play Smash competitively. And if he did he is bad. That's all he needs to not meet notability standards. --BeepYouSignature.png BeepYou: is he leaving the wiki? (talk) 20:41, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

NONE.

I know you've looked into stages like DUMMY and ICETOP to see why they crash the game. Can you analyse what causes NONE to crash the game?

--- Monsieur Crow, Author Extraordinaire, 14:46, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

I can try, gimme a sec. Serpent SKSig.png King 14:47, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Ok this is what I got. Here's what I know:
  1. GALE01 is NTSC v1.2's internal codename. A usd file stands for "Universal Scene Description" and is used for 3D modeling, so we can assume that the file is an archive for model files.
  2. The game tried the following comparison: "entry_num != -1" (variable "entry_num" is not equal to -1) and failed, and from that I assume that NONE's character id is -1 which would make sense.
These are unfortunately inconclusive bits of information, other than it tried and failed to load the character, which is something we already know. Serpent SKSig.png King 15:00, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Actually, now that I think about it, the only things that could make "entry_num != -1" fail would be if entry_num were out of range (unlikely), not a number (more unlikely), or null (very likely). If the "entry_num" is the variable that holds the character's id and it came up null, that would mean that NONE does not have an ID hence the crash. Serpent SKSig.png King 15:14, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

Akaneia

I undid your edit to debug menu (SSBM) because the game in which Archanea appears was released in 1990, which is before Melee's release (see here). 71.8.148.148 16:45, 9 August 2016 (EDT)

This is how you treat people!!!

Excuse me Serpent, but I am asking you to restore the pages I made regarding various eSports teams. I put a LOT of effort in making those pages, even sourcing them to improve their notability. Then you go and become the shady snake you are and poison all of my work, which I spent lots of time building those pages. To tell you the truth, those pages were actually relevant to the wiki. To think you're one of the smartest admins on the wiki, you're actually TriForce in disguise, spreading your shady behavior all over the wiki as well as deleting other people's pages that they put plenty of time making. I made pages for IMT, NRG, Circa, idk what else, but I'm requesting a full on revival in a #FREELEFFEN matter, even if you dislike SmashWiki's eSports coverage. Would you delete for example K.I.D. Goggles, because he isn't named ZeRo. NO!! I'd do the same for those teams, even if their names are not TSM, CLG, or EG, for your information, IMT, and NRG are basically mainstream teams, and if you do plan on reviving them, please insist on putting their respective Wikipedia articles in their pages. Sorry for being harsh, but I hate it when I lose a lot of credit for work that I've contributed to this site. Thank you for your time. --FXSig2.png The Combo King (Thanks for Playing, GGs) 18:57, 20 October 2016 (EDT)

I might not be involved in this trouble in any way whatsoever, and should not involve myself either. But "you go and become the shady snake you are and poison all of my work" and "you're actually TriForce in disguise" are examples of breaking SW:NPA, because they do sound a lot like a personal attack. Being mad for losing a lot of credit for your contributions is no excuse to insult anybody. Sorry for that. --BeepYouSignature.png Merry Christ... I mean, Happy Halloween from BeepYou... (talk) 19:09, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
  1. Talking to me like that is not going to get you very far. If you really want to appeal a decision made by an admin, you should do it in a more civil manner.
  2. Team/Crew pages need to have a higher notability standard than exists right now. There are way too many nobody crew articles at the moment. I do not find esports teams notable enough to have a page for each one, but if we were to combine them into one, then maybe. You should possibly put up a poll on that.
That's all. Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 19:10, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
@BeepYou please remember that a lot of times, it is not necessary to jump in and call people out on NPA, especially when it is this minor. Thanks for trying to help though Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 19:13, 20 October 2016 (EDT)

Hitboxes

Hey Serpent King, I know it's been a few months and you probably don't remember me, but I have been working tirelessly, and have finally finished recording all of the hitbox data for all of the Smash 4 characters' moves. However, before I start editing willy-nilly and probably messing up a lot of formatting and creating a lot of unnecessary cleanup for the admins, I want to ask a few things to clarify and make sure I have them right.

For standardization purposes, do you want me to format the hitbox tables in hexadecimal or decimal? Also, for the moves that don't have pages yet, do you want me to write an overview/description of the move and include a picture? Or is there somebody else that we usually have do that?

Thanks! CpnFlacon (talk) 16:13, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

I am pretty sure we have all of our info in decimal form so yeah, go ahead and do that (just make sure you are converting correctly). As for the overview and picture, that's up to you. We would of course prefer the page be completed, but that task does not necessarily fall to you. Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 16:19, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
Thank you! I'll get working on those conversions. Also, one thing I did have trouble with was figuring out the sfx and slvls, since those seem somewhat arbitrary. Is there a source I can go to for official data on that so I'm not just guessing what constitutes small, medium or large sounds? CpnFlacon (talk) 16:31, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
Oh yeah also how do I format a trip value of 3e4ccccc or 3e800000 as a percent value? CpnFlacon (talk) 16:53, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
I am actually not entirely sure how non-whole number conversions work, sorry Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 16:59, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
This is probably more up Toomai's ally than mine. Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 17:01, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

Sure thing. Serpent SKSig.png King 14:58, 8 November 2016 (EST)

Regarding competitive history pages

Two main things I want to point out:

  1. Brawl is more of a "closed" scene insofar as it's not particularly active anymore, making it a more workable subject to write about "historically" than an ongoing, current scene.
  2. This one's more of a personal foible, but I utterly hate the shorthand "Smash 4" and would prefer to see it be "SSB4" instead. I didn't really want to raise a whole ruckus over that one, so I thought I'd bypass it for a while by requesting Brawl instead. :v

Miles (talk) 11:51, 15 November 2016 (EST)

I was actually thinking about that myself, and I don't have a problem with that name. I was kinda wondering if we shouldn't just do like "History of competitive Smash (SSB4)" and convert the others accordingly or what. That would also solve the sticky problem that is the original 64 versions name. Serpent SKSig.png King 13:53, 15 November 2016 (EST)
Also I see what you are saying about doing Brawl first, but to me it seems better to do the more "important" games first (being that Melee and Smash 4 are currently dominating (and will most likely continue to dominate) the scene). Serpent SKSig.png King 13:55, 15 November 2016 (EST)
Your points are totally valid as well. The "History of competitive Smash (SSB4)" kind of name would work as well, although at that point it's wordy enough that we almost would be better off finding a different way of naming it altogether... something like "Super Smash Bros. Whichever in competitive play", maybe? Miles (talk) 14:55, 15 November 2016 (EST)
We could just do "Competitive Smash (whatever)" I guess. Serpent SKSig.png King 14:57, 15 November 2016 (EST)

Would you consider these notable at this point?

Hello Serpent King. :D

I would like to know if you personally consider Renegades and Luminosity Gaming notable enough for SmashWiki. I would like to break down the teams. Both of them have smashers representing two different games (both have an SSB4 and a Melee player).

  • RNG has DabuzUSA and Swedish DelightUSA (the former notably being the most consistent Smash 4 player)
  • LG has AbadangoJapan and IceGermany (two of the best players in their respective games, bonus points for neither of them being American on a US-based team).

What's your opinion regarding Luminosity and Renegades? Also, sorry about the NPA violation a while back. Thanks a million. --FXSig2.png Falcon-X (Freedom House) 15:30, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Not a problem, and a few things
  1. You are using the Sm template wrong (there is no need for the flag template at all). Just do {{Sm|Dabuz|USA}} to get USA Dabuz in the future. Thanks!
  2. As for your question, I would seriously prefer that crews be limited to famous ones (like H2YL, Melee Hell, MLG, etc) Serpent SKSig.png King 15:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Hope I didn't make a headache for ya

In regards to the Knockback page, specifically the Melee Formula, I've tried to make it look more in line with the rest of the wiki and wanted to actually know if you think the RAW formula (how the game actually calculates it) should be on that page or if the simplified version I made should. You can see the differences here: [1] and [2]. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dippndots (talkcontribs) 17:34, 17 November 2016 (EST)

I think the simplified version is enough. We definitely do not need two though. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)
If you don't mind, I'm going to do a bit of altering so that the formula looks closer to what we have for the other games. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Rainbow 18:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)
As it turns out, once you do enough math, the Melee formula ends up being exactly equal to the Brawl/SSB4 formula. So for simplicity I think it's best to keep things the way we had them before, with one formula for SSB64 and one for the other games. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Boss 19:22, 17 November 2016 (EST)
huh. Ok wow I wasn't checking against that. All I did was make sure the simplified version was equal to the original (which it is, gj). Serpent SKSig.png King 19:37, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Hey guys, can you take another look? The formula you have on there currently doesn't account for staled moves which the one I put up does. The smashboards post is here: https://smashboards.com/threads/melee-hacks-and-you-new-hackers-start-here-in-the-op.247119/page-128#post-20927705 - Staled moves can actually affect knockback n Melee Dippndots (talk) 20:02, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Staled moves cannot directly affect KB in Melee, it's been proven. However since the damage dealt is a factor for knockback, staled moves will affect it that way. Serpent SKSig.png King 20:12, 17 November 2016 (EST)
A very prominent modder who has looked at the assembly calculation disagrees. I don't mean to be difficult. Look at the formula I put there, it calculates both "Staled Damage" and "Unstaled Damage", not strictly the "damage actually done" value Dippndots (talk) 20:16, 17 November 2016 (EST)
One more difference, and this is something I have actually contested before: Your formula takes the current damage value before the attacks' damage is added, ours takes it after. Serpent SKSig.png King 20:24, 17 November 2016 (EST)
That's a mistake, I've been touching it up throughout the day and may have forgotten to do that here, you're right it definitely calculates victim's percent after the damage is applied. Dippndots (talk) 20:28, 17 November 2016 (EST)
So the credibility of the formula in that link is no good then. Serpent SKSig.png King 20:34, 17 November 2016 (EST)
I don't see how you're coming to that conclusion, I thought you were referring to the formula I uploaded not what Achilles posted on Smashboards, "current %" could very well be after the damage/percent are already calculated, or perhaps he just did't specifically state it because it's 2016 and everyone knows it already. If you want to keep the formula as is, by all means, but I would recommend reaching out to Achilles if you doubt his observations. Dippndots (talk) 20:48, 17 November 2016 (EST)

About Dragonfirebreath25

Backup for DFB25: I don't think Dragonfirebreath25 did anything wrong, it may've just been a coincidence that a bunch of ban-evading IPs linked to his and that was only on Mariowiki. I've been down this road in the past I was framed for vandalism once before but it wasn't me it was just a younger sibling who obviously shared with my IP and I was back on. His edit appear to be good as well. Please reconsider. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The RPG Gamer (talkcontribs) 21:49, 26 November 2016 (EST)

There is no reason to reconsider. I gave him the chance to argue his point, and instead of saying something to that effect, he simply asked not to be blocked.
I want to stay here because I'm a huge fan of Mario and Smash! Please, let me stay and get myself a second chance!
This implies and admission of guilt, also. I believe in second chances, but not against sockpuppetry vandalism. Also, do learn how to sign here: SW:SIG. Serpent SKSig.png King 21:49, 26 November 2016 (EST)

Master Hand's metal form in Melee

Master Hand does have a metal form in Melee. Do the Master Hand glitch in VS Mode with at least 1 opponent (human or CPU), set the Metal Box as the only item and pick Final Destination, as he works best there. Then all you have to do is to physically attack a Metal Box, which is easily done with D-Pad Down + A. Boo Buddy MeganiumMS.png 14:03, 27 November 2016 (EST)

Smashers in other games

I get the notion that the wiki should be dedicated to Smash, but I really don't seem the harm in mentioning if a smasher has met notable success in another competitive game. Trivia sections are meant to be, well, trivial (sure, it's not directly important to Smash, but it's certainly notable for that particular smasher), and I have seen many trivia sections on other wikis with references to things not directly related to what the wiki is (the Smash wiki is the Smash wiki, of course, but I feel it's worth mentioning still), so I can't quite wrap my mind around not allowing one or two sentences regarding their accomplishments in another game. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 21:22, 2 December 2016 (EST)

My main issue is that these points fall in the irrelevance category of SW:TRIVIA Serpent SKSig.png King 22:22, 2 December 2016 (EST)
I have to disagree with you there. It's still directly related to their competitive career (which is what more or less makes up the bulk of most smashers' pages), albeit in another game. I can't see how it's comparable to the "Despite moving like a human, Fox has a tail" example in any way. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 22:48, 2 December 2016 (EST)
It's a bad example. I just don't see any reason to cover other fighting games in any capacity, strike a few origin sections on Street Fighter for Ryu. We are SmashWiki, we report on Smash. Serpent SKSig.png King 00:19, 3 December 2016 (EST)
I agree that the current example on that page is bad, but I feel like the policy of "only Smash" is way too strict, at least in regards to the trivia section for smashers specifically. It's unrelated to "Smash", sure, but a top player making waves in another game (let's say they get Top 8 at EVO or something) warrants mention for their trivia section (one or two sentences won't detract from the content of the overall page). It's not an insignificant feat and still directly correlates to their competitive career. I contend that it doesn't violate the "irrelevance" part and I also don't feel like the current definition for it is well-defined regardless. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 02:33, 3 December 2016 (EST)
I would like to bring up SmashWiki:Smasher article guidelines under the trivia section, it say Is the subject noteworthy for competing in other games? PoultrysigSSB4.pngPoultryPoultrysigSSBM.png(talk) the God-Slayer 07:08, 3 December 2016 (EST)
Exactly what they're talking about. --BeepYouSignature.png BeepYou BeepYouSignature.png (talk) 15:30, 3 December 2016 (EST)

So how good do you have to be to be mentioned PoultrysigSSB4.pngPoultryPoultrysigSSBM.png(talk) the God-Slayer 15:44, 3 December 2016 (EST)

Something...

I made like around at least 8 edits to the SmashWiki articles am I okay to edit my userspace again P.S I will not overdo it. Fawful's Minion (talk) 17:51, 8 December 2016 (EST)

No.
  1. 8 edits is nothing.
  2. Your edits have almost all been pointless one word additions (the reason they weren't reverted is because it would be just as pointless) or minor grammar/spelling fixes (which are great and we need them, but it's not enough to me). Make constructive edits. Take some things out of the maintenance categories (we especially need old tournament results). All of these articles need attention in one form or another as well.

Make some of these edits and then I will consider it. Serpent SKSig.png King 18:03, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Smasher:iBDW

Hello, since you're the only other one to have edited the page thus far, I was wondering if you could tell me how to make the page title lowercase (the "i" is supposed to be lowercase and it was even requested by the smasher the page is about), if not make the change yourself. Thank you in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MaxHoney (talkcontribs) 19:39, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Got it. Also read SW:SIGN please. Thanks! Serpent SKSig.png King 19:39, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Recent Widespread Editing of Player Secondaries

Normally I would not go to an administrator for a problem but this I feel needs to be addressed; Poultry has been adding characters to Smashers' pages (such as by listing Yoshi as one of Duck's, MattDotZeb's, and WarriorKnight's secondaries) and it has gotten so out of hand and has been happening for the past several months. He's done this for many players and I've had to undo his edits at least a dozen times. If you could notify him or something then that would be appreciated as I am very much trying to keep the wiki as accurate as possible. RICEMANTOM (talk) 14:56, 14 December 2016 (EST)

If they use a secondary AND win against a player in their region in tournament (no matter what it is), it is valid to add them. If they are known by many people for using them (such as on stream), exceptions can be made, but only few ones. That being said, if Poultry is adding them without taking into mind these things, yea an admin could notify him so that he stops. --BeepYouSignature.png BeepYou BeepYouSignature.png (talk) 17:31, 14 December 2016 (EST)
First I am going to point out that it's not vandalism. Second, I disagree Beep. We should list the mains and secondaries depending on a) how good they are with the character, b) how often they use the character, and c) is the character just used for sandbagging. There is no steadfast rule for what determines the limits on each of these, and there shouldn't be. We have to use good judgement.
Now as it happens, I have already talked to Poultry about this because I had a few problems with the mains he was adding before. If you have a similar problem, you should do the same. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:59, 14 December 2016 (EST)
While I agree on those grounds (such as SFAT's Ganondorf and Duck's Marth), he's been adding secondaries that there is neither footage of nor any source to indicate they've even played the character at all. For instance, Renth, who I know personally, had Roy listed as a secondary yet he hasn't played Roy in any sort of setting, be it casual or competitive. It's not like this is a terribly pressing issue been it has been occurring a lot and isn't doing any justice to the wiki. RICEMANTOM (talk) 21:19, 14 December 2016 (EST)

Corporate Patrick

Corporate Patrick (talk) 23:24, 20 December 2016 (EST)

Hello and welcome! Typically for the United States, we only have state PRs, not city ones. There are some exceptions such as the Las Vegas Power Rankings, but only because the state of Nevada has no PR. ...You say you have the best Smash 4 players in the state? If that's true, they should be here on the Missouri PR...Although now that I look at it, the page does not feature Smash 4. Is there a Smash 4 PR for Missouri in effect, do you happen to know? Changes to the Melee 20XX post/thread/whatever from MysticPower

i was just wondering, why did you remove the character costume list on the melee 20XX mod post? not trying to make a big deal but i worked a while to make those.(NOTE:i did not put the original costumes for c. falcon or falco, i only did the pal versions for them. i did all the other ones though.anyways hope you can respond.bye MysticPower (talk) 14:20, 21 December 2016 (EST)

This would make 20XX the only mod apart from PM to have a costume list. On top of that, the list was extremely unprofessionally written and there were no images to compliment the descriptions. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:59, 21 December 2016 (EST)

ok and im not trying to be rude but i did kinda enjoy the list MysticPower (talk) 19:10, 21 December 2016 (EST)

Super Smash Con

Well basically all the smasher pages have "Super Smash Con" listed in their results, which leads to the disambiguation instead of the actual tournament page. So to fix that we either have to go to every smasher page and replace "Super Smash Con" with "Super Smash Con 2015" or create a "Super Smash Con" => "Super Smash Con 2015" redirect, which I felt was the better thing to do. Dimo (talk) 17:19, 25 December 2016 (EST)

The replacement should be made in that case. It's tough I guess but if the tournament was renamed, that's the path that should be taken. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:42, 25 December 2016 (EST)

Onpu the Zelda

I'm questioning why you removed Onpu the Zelda when he has got some notable wins against some well known Japanese players and has notable results like 7th at karisuma11 and 13th at karisuma10, two majors.

if you don't believe me then here are some brackets because he has better overall results than Dante, Enny, and MaXy.

Bobalicious (talk) 17:32, 25 December 2016 (EST)

Standards for the notable players sections are higher than for having a smasher page. Additionally, you should really consider reading the rules because it lacked the required description, which is an automatic reversion, no questions asked. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:44, 25 December 2016 (EST)
