== Technical data on SW ==
I would like your opinion on the following thing: how should ending lag be displayed on the SmashWiki, by the frames it takes for the attack to end or by marking the interruptibility frame/FAF of the attack? As long as I've heard, the latter explains things easier and also saves bits on each page, but since some people prefer referring to an attack's FAF, I wanted your consensus. -- <font color="Black">BeepYou</font>: is he leaving the wiki? <font color="Black">(talk)</font> 05:02, 9 August 2016 (EDT)
:The current standard is to list the length of the animation, as well as the first frame of interruptibility if the attack has that property. Some examples of this are here, here, and here (note that for this last one, even though the move can't be interrupted until after the animation is over, it's still listed because the command exists in the code). ::Well I meant not on the technical data paces themselves (since it is obvious), but on the character's main pages for each game (both changes since last game and update histories). -- <font color="Black">BeepYou</font>: is he leaving the wiki? <font color="Black">(talk)</font> 22:45, 11 August 2016 (EDT)
:::Since they're bulleted lists I can see an argument for only listing a single before-change and after-change number (which would be either animation length or interruptibility frame, whichever is smaller). However, that would only apply to changing the speed of a move via animation speed controls. If the interruptible command itself is moved to a different frame, that would have to be mentioned specifically. == TBH 6 ==
So I am not sure why the PM event can't still exist on this page, even if it wasn't technically a part of TBH6. The PM event ran alongside TBH6 and clearly it is associated with it. The alternatives are to make the PM event its own article which makes no sense as we've never done that before, or just not document it at all which doesn't really make sense for a tournament that size. Why can't the PM event just go on the TBH6 page but be made clear that it wasn't technically a part of TBH6? <span style="font-family:Chiller;font-size:18px;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #222"><span style="color:#d50">Serpent</span> <span style="color:#d50">King</span></span> 17:36, 13 October 2016 (EDT)

== A task worthy of the snark module themselves ==
Hey I was wondering if you could get XL to add :Category:Sound clips to all OGG files, and additionally, remove all sounds from :Category:Sounds, as it's redundant to have both. Thanks! <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt"><span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span> <span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span></span> 19:57, 5 November 2016 (EDT)
:So you want to delete [Uploaded files]/[Fair use files]/[Sounds] and move what's currently there to [Gameplay]/[Sound clips]? I dunno something smells funky with that structure; sound doesn't really fit as "gameplay". I feel like maybe the opposite should happen, or things get reorg'd in some other way. ::Nono, I just want to get rid of Sound clips or Sounds, one or the other. If you want to go the other way, that's fine. Btw, what sound do we have that would not be considered gameplay? <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;font-size:12pt"><span style="color:#083;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #0b7">Serpent</span> <span style="color:#ed0;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px #fd0">King</span></span> 16:52, 6 November 2016 (EST)

== Knockback formula ==
Apparently, Melee's knockback formula is the same as Brawl/SSB4's, except for the gravity thing. If said attribute were to be removed from the equation (no pun intended), how drastic would the effect be on the character? For example, on Greninja who has the second highest gravity in SSB4, how high would his vertical survivability become? As high as the heaviest characters like King Dedede? -- <font color="Purple">Feliz Noviembre</font> <font color="Yellow"> de parte de</font> <font color="Gray">BeepYou :)</font> <font color="#F50087">(talk)</font> 21:07, 9 November 2016 (EST)
:Miniscule. A character with a gravity of 0.2 (only Melee Fox reaches this) takes an extra 0.525 units of vertical knockback. This is 19 times slower than one Brawl Stage Builder block per second. It's purely for trying to normalize multi-hit moves, nothing more. Toomai Glittershine The Altruistic 21:27, 9 November 2016 (EST)
::Then does that mean the attribute that makes characters have extreme resistance to vertical KOs in Melee and Project M is solely falling speed? No other factors? -- <font color="Purple">Feliz Noviembre</font> <font color="Yellow"> de parte de</font> <font color="Gray">BeepYou :)</font> <font color="#F50087">(talk)</font> 16:14, 10 November 2016 (EST)
:::Okay I guess I should have clarified. Gravity has minimal effect on the knockback applied to a character. But as soon as it's applied, gravity affects their trajectory. If you dealt an equal amount of knockback in the same direction to two different characters (which would require them to be at different percentages), they would travel different distances because of their aerial movement characteristics (such as gravity). #smashwiki
Had a net split, but the problem is that ChanServ never returned, and I also can't invite it. Could you get in contact with gamesurge to get it back? Serpent King 18:36, 21 April 2016 (EDT)
- If your Chanserv quit it's because there was a net split or it was taken down while the staff work on it. Don't worry it should be back once the split is over but if it is not back after the split is over then just join #support and tell them you lost your Chanserv during the split. This also applies to Authserv, if Chanserv is gone Authserv is aswell so that is why you can't auth. Just wait for both to return. This assumes that the staff have already fixed the issue or finished updating the service. It'll be fixed eventually; if other servers have their Chanserv back, you can go to #support and ask for help. MegaTron1 18:44, 21 April 2016 (EDT)
- Serpent doesn't have access to #support's HelpServ either, so this is a big issue. Disaster Flare (talk) 18:46, 21 April 2016 (EDT)

Final Smash change displayed as buff/nerf or change
I changed all of the buff/nerf templates for every final smashes in SSB4 character pages to change templates. I did it because final smashes do not affect competitive play which Disaster Flare said in this edit. But he changed it to that because Mewtwo received a final smash, which everyone received and thus makes it a change since they "cancel out", if you will.
I am also wondering about Smash 64 characters receiving side specials (or other things they may recive) in Melee, as everyone received them. If I didn't explain what I am trying to say well and it doesn't make sense, I can try to elaborate. -- Ethan(Discussion) 17:01, 26 April 2016 (EDT)
Considering Side specials, pummels, up throws, down throws, wall jumping, chargeable smash attacks, etc. DO affect competitive play, those should stay as buffs. Final Smashes however, DO NOT affect competitive play (except for one Special exception), and therefor should probably be laid as changes. -- 20MK_MetaKing #20MK 20:41, 26 April 2016 (EDT)
Here's my take, for what it's worth: everyone gaining a type of move in a Game 1 -> Game 2 situation isn't a buff. A Final Smash becoming more or less powerful from one game to the next is a buff or nerf. Those terms aren't exclusively competitive. Miles (talk) 20:49, 26 April 2016 (EDT)
I begin to feel that Changes for Final Smash may have to do with competitive play and not outside of competitive play. Unless final smash is allowed (which is very unlikely), I see Final Smash buff and nerfs are irrelevant and can be listed as a change. But we'll see for actual answers about classifying final smash. Buff isn't always a buff; nerf isn't always a nerf. There is exceptions what I found. Luigi540 (talk) 23:26, 26 April 2016 (EDT)
What Miles said is pretty much the ideaology I was following as well. If everyone gets a new move (side specials, zairs, Final Smashes), or a mechanic has been removed from the game (wavedashing, gliding, slow edge attacks), it's not a buff or a nerf (outside very specific situations, like maybe Luigi being nerfed indirectly because wavedashing was so core to him in Melee). Otherwise, it probably is a buff or a nerf. Whether it's important to competitive play is usually of minimal importance - this wiki is not based solely on competitive play. Toomai Glittershine The Loony 23:30, 26 April 2016 (EDT)
- So moves like side specials should be listed as a change, Final Smashes as buffs/nerfs and receiving a Final Smash as a change? Or are we having Final Smash buff/nerfs be changes since they don't affect competitive play? Also, the removal of gliding and stuff like that is a nerf since only a few characters can do this in Brawl. -- Ethan(Discussion) 00:55, 27 April 2016 (EDT)
- Buffs are buffs and nerfs are nerfs, competitive play or not; the only exception is when a new global mechanic means all characters get a new move or lose an old one. Though gliding specifically I could understand listing as a nerf because it was so exclusive. Toomai Glittershine The Free 09:22, 27 April 2016 (EDT)
- So want me to change all side specials and stuff like that to changes? -- Ethan(Discussion) 12:13, 27 April 2016 (EDT)
- If you want to I guess. It's less a deal to me than things like "no sub-bullets" or "order by moveset, not by buffs then nerfs". Toomai Glittershine The Altruistic 10:16, 28 April 2016 (EDT)

Priority on attacks
We already know there are attacks that cannot rebound and attacks with trascendent priority, but a quick question: is there any attack that is both trascendent and cannot rebound in SSB4? -- BeepYou, a user with no grammar at all :v (talk) 18:28, 30 April 2016 (EDT)
- Oh yeah, tons of stuff, in all games that have rebound. Most characters have several of them, mostly floor/edge attacks, collateral throws, and Final Smashes. Quick scan suggets that most items also can't clang and can't rebound. That being said, whether it's useful to note is questionable, since if something can't clang it can't rebound anyways (and I don't think there's any other mechanic that cares). Technical data on SW
-- BeepYou: is he leaving the wiki? (talk) 05:02, 9 August 2016 (EDT)
- The current standard is to list the length of the animation, as well as the first frame of interruptibility if the attack has that property. Some examples of this are here, here, and here (note that for this last one, even though the move can't be interrupted until after the animation is over, it's still listed because the command exists in the code). Toomai Glittershine The Trumpeteer 10:12, 9 August 2016 (EDT)
- Well I meant not on the technical data paces themselves (since it is obvious), but on the character's main pages for each game (both changes since last game and update histories). -- BeepYou: is he leaving the wiki? (talk) 22:45, 11 August 2016 (EDT)
- Since they're bulleted lists I can see an argument for only listing a single before-change and after-change number (which would be either animation length or interruptibility frame, whichever is smaller). However, that would only apply to changing the speed of a move via animation speed controls. If the interruptible command itself is moved to a different frame, that would have to be mentioned specifically. Toomai Glittershine The Ghostbuster 10:01, 12 August 2016 (EDT)

TBH 6
So I am not sure why the PM event can't still exist on this page, even if it wasn't technically a part of TBH6. The PM event ran alongside TBH6 and clearly it is associated with it. - Just search the internet for a hex-to-float converter. For example, 3e800000 = 0.25 = 25%. Toomai Glittershine The Metroid 06:59, 27 October 2016 (EDT)

- Yeah I've been meaning to make an on-wiki page how to do this but never found an opportunity. For SFX level, 0-1-2-3 = S-M-L-H. For SFX type, common ones are 1 = Punch, 2 = Kick, 3 = Slash, 7 = Shock, 8 = Burn, 11 = Explosion, and 16 = Magic zap. Toomai Glittershine The Quiet 07:15, 28 October 2016 (EDT)

- Additionally, is there a similar numerical key for the effects/types? CpnFlacon (talk) 10:50, 2 November 2016 (EDT)
- Wait, I'm confused now. I just looked through the data for Mario, and according to that key, all of Mario's moves except his dash attack would have an slvl of S, which I know isn't true. Am I reading it wrong? Is my source wrong? CpnFlacon (talk) 11:41, 2 November 2016 (EDT)
- What is your source? Then 20th value should be SLvl, with shield damage before it and SFXT after it. Toomai Glittershine The Glow 06:48, 3 November 2016 (EDT)
- Dantarion's mastercore3, dump 160. It's a little out of date (v.1.1.1), but it's the best source I could find with data that was that in-depth and reliable. CpnFlacon (talk) 11:23, 3 November 2016 (EDT)

Hey I was wondering if you could get XL to add Category:Sound clips to all OGG files, and additionally, remove all sounds from Category:Sounds, as it's redundant to have both. Thanks! Serpent King 19:57, 5 November 2016 (EDT)
- So you want to delete [Uploaded files]/[Fair use files]/[Sounds] and move what's currently there to [Gameplay]/[Sound clips]? I dunno something smells funky with that structure; sound doesn't really fit as "gameplay". I feel like maybe the opposite should happen, or things get reorg'd in some other way. Knockback formula
-- Feliz Noviembre de parte de BeepYou :) (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2016 (EST)
- Miniscule.
- Then does that mean the attribute that makes characters have extreme resistance to vertical KOs in Melee and Project M is solely falling speed? No other factors? -- Feliz Noviembre de parte de BeepYou :) (talk) 16:14, 10 November 2016 (EST)
- Okay I guess I should have clarified. Username Change
Hello
I would like to request a username change from Yoshifan 34567 to WaluigiTheGreat as my new tag in tournament play is now WaluigiTheGreat and I don't like Yoshifan 34567 being my username anymore.
Thanks.

In accordance with SW:NAMECHANGE, post here again in a few days. In addition, you should read our signature rules and change your signature accordingly, as templates are not allowed and some form of your username must be present. Toomai Glittershine The Orchestral 09:59, 26 November 2016 (EST)
