:Close, but Zero Mission's did not have the extended crotch-plate (from Super) or the segmented helmet tubes (Prime/Fusion).  Nitpicky, sure, but it ain't identical to ZM's as you claim. Additionally, the Morph Ball is multicolored like Super's, as opposed to Prime/ZM's monochrome versions.  In fact, it's basically SM's suit with the lights from ZM/Prime... but I digress. == Other M personality change ==
Is it worth noting in any way that Samus' character was changed in Other M and/or that this change didn't carry over to SSB4? While the fact that ZSS keeps her Brawl voice actress and lines/animations doesn't seem to be worth noting, it's also "evidence" of sorts that they didn't change Samus' Smash personality to fit Other M.--Darthrai (talk) 20:19, 14 November 2015 (EST)
No, not really. It's not like there's anything that would incite her showing her personality from Other M in the game anyways. You could also think of ZSS as a composite ZSS, kind of like Lucario and how his abilities are taken from multiple sources. Really bad example I just gave...it's still Samus. It's not really notable. Hard to put a finger on what I want to say here. Ah ok, makes sense. Samus/ZSS just stood out to me as an odd case where her voice actress and personality were left unchanged despite being completely different in the game that SSB4 primarily draws from for her design, possibly due to the controversy surrounding Other M. (Though Captain Falcon's situation was similar for Brawl, except that F-Zero GX wasn't controversial in the least). Could you be trying to say that that Samus' Other M personality is irrelevant to Smash, since it was mainly notable for the real-life controversy it generated and is absent from SSB4?--Darthrai (talk) 20:30, 14 November 2015 (EST)
:Samus doesn't do much to "display personality" in any Smash game, so I'm not sure that's really very relevant. If you want to talk about what does and doesn't match Other M, I'd recommend keeping it to what's more definitely represented (e.g. the Varia/Zero Suit designs and her mole matching, the jet boots and voice not matching, and so on). :Other M kinda spelled out her personality and shoved it in your face. I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this. You gotta remember this is a fighting game. People might say Lucina's lines are not reflective of her personality in Awakening. Well, duh, she's in a fighting game, it's competitive sometimes, her sass makes sense. Samus develops as a character throughout the Metroid series and Smash doesn't choose to capture that (Other M) particular part of her development. ::Basically, I was trying to imply that Samus/ZSS strictly does not have her Other M personality in Smash, since she uses her old voice clips and still comes across as stoic and collected. However, I get what you're saying; it isn't confirmed, and it's actually plausible that she has her Other M personality, so there's no reason to note anything along those lines. While they didn't even do as little as getting Jessica Martin to re-record Alesia Glidewell's lines from Brawl in the same tone, or reuse some of her voice clips from Other M, it's more like evidence that she kept her older personality (as I stated in the first message) rather than proof. It would suck if Sakurai kept Samus' whiny moeblob persona to appease the 3 Japanese fans who liked Other M unironically, but at least it seems to be in the realm of "fan theory that isn't heavily contradicted" rather than something clearly being intended or hinted at. And hey, at least he got Mewtwo right rather than giving us the Movie 16 one. --Darthrai (talk) 22:19, 14 November 2015 (EST)

Minor changes[edit]

There are a couple of things I've edited in this article, and I just wanted to give an explanation as to why:

 1. She was later sent to Planet Zebes to stop the Space Pirates on Zebes, who were attempting to use a newly discovered species called the "Metroids" and destroy Mother Brain, the reprogrammed Aurora Unit who controlled Zebes's ecosystem. - According to the Zero Mission manga, which is canon to the games (chapter 1 and 2 are available as part of the e-manga at Mechadrake's site, 3 and onwards are alowly being provided by this site), Mother Brain was a Chozo creation, long before Aurora Units came into existence. Metroid fans have assumed since Prime 3 that the AUs, in fact, were created based on the original Mother Brain's specs. If this is true, it would make MB the prototype, but not quite an AU herself. Mother Brain from Super Metroid, on the other hand, is very likely an AU, based on one of the Prime 3 preview videos.
 2. Samus pursued the reborn Meta-Ridley to Tallon IV where she learned that a meteorite had landed on the planet long ago containing an evil creature known as Metroid Prime. - This is still very hotly debated by the Metroid fandom. Most people, though, are now assuming the "Worm" mentioned in prophecies to be the Leviathan core itself, not its guardian. This theory makes the idea of the Metroid coming along for the ride from Phaaze less likely.
 3. Samus returns in the upcoming Brawl, but is visually updated to resemble her Metroid Prime appearance. - Other than the fact that Brawl is already out and this can be slightly reworded, there's also the fact that her Brawl armor is not based on the Prime series version. Rather, it's a near identical 3D recreation of her final suit from Zero Mission (minus the Gravity Suit coloring). You can actually see the differences between the two in-game, since the Prime Varia Suit has its own trophy. Ironically, it was a Power Rangers message board various other Metroid fans and I realized this at. -_-

For the first two, the changes I've made are mostly an attempt to acquiesce with folks who may disagree with those mentalities; I've tried to word those two to be open-ended to fit both ideas. Arrowned 19:03, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
