Celebi (セレビィ, Celebi) is a creature in the Pokémon franchise.
Origin[edit]
Celebi is a Psychic/Grass-type Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #251 as the "Time Travel Pokémon". It is depicted as the guardian of the forests and possesses the ability to travel through time, though this ability is shown in the main series Pokémon games only in a secret event in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Despite its DOJO!! description, Celebi cannot learn Fly in any game. In the National Pokédex, it is registered as #251 and it is also the last Pokémon in the Johto Dex.

First, it must be unlocked: it won't appear out of a Poké Ball until all playable characters and stages have been unlocked, the sound test has been unlocked, all event matches have been completed, the Score Display feature has been unlocked (by getting 5000 total KOs), and Mew has been seen. Once done, the chance of Celebi appearing is 1/251 ("251" being the total number of Pokémon in existence at the time of Melee's release), just like the other "unlockable" Pokémon, Mew. Both have their chance of appearing doubled in Event 37: Legendary Pokémon, making it a (still small) 2/251 chance.

- This Pokémon has the unique ability to travel through time to the past or future. However, the only times Celebi wants to visit are those of peace, so catching sight of Celebi in one of the beautiful forests it frequents is a good sign indeed. Perhaps it's mankind's responsibility to create the kind of time Celebi would want to visit.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Spirit[edit]
Celebi also appears as a Legend-class support spirit.
In Adventure Mode: World of Light, Celebi is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by Galeem during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, Dharkon takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Celebi. Celebi's spirit is located in the Sacred Land sub-dungeon of The Dark Realm.
Celebi's Spirit Battle uses a Mewtwo puppet fighter and is fought on the Garden of Hope stage's Battlefield form. During the battle, the stage is covered with fog. Also, the player's fighter takes minor damage while Mewtwo heals overtime, referencing Celebi's Leech Seed move, which drains the opponent's health every turn and restores the user's health.
