:I thought I would get a QDV mention. I figured that since they brought the conflict up on Miles' talk page a while back, that there was a ''slight'' chance that they could be convinced they were wrong and would stop in the future (assuming they never checked back on Miles' talk page and missed the edit summary).
:Off-topic but I've wanted to mention it for a while, the image in your sig uses the old "Image" prefix instead of the more modern "File" prefix and there is white-space around the filename that doesn't do anything. Minor but something that I felt like mentioning at some point. --[[User:CanvasK|CanvasK]] ([[User talk:CanvasK|talk]]) 15:40, April 28, 2022 (EDT)

== Regarding PNGs ==
Since the topic has come up, I think this is something to mention. While this Wiki has no stated preference for image formats, some NIWA Wikis state that PNGs are preferred over JPEGs for gameplay screenshots, due to lossless formats being a better representation of actual gameplay, particularly native res lossless images. I think this is a sensible rule, and where possible it makes sense to apply it here. Obviously I do not have the means to do this myself, as the Switch's built in capture feature doesn't let you save captures as PNGs, or at native res, even when using a microSD card. If you ''do'' have the means to do this, I would like to ask you to do so. If you're not willing to do this, would it at least be possible for you to upload a native res version? :I understand the reasoning, if I recall the Mario Wiki outlines their format preference. Of course I'm not going to go around and redo everything as PNGs (unless they are objectively poor quality), but if the clarity is important to the content then I can do so. <s>If I have the means but am unwilling to upload, then why would I be willing to upload?</s> --[[User:CanvasK|CanvasK]] ([[User talk:CanvasK|talk]]) 21:23, May 11, 2022 (EDT)
== Regex examples ==
I suck at using regex so I'm asking you, how would you handle replacing all links such as <nowiki>[[Tournament:Test|Test]]</nowiki> to <nowiki>{{Trn|Test}}</nowiki>?--[[User:Rdrfc|Rdrfc]] ([[User talk:Rdrfc|talk]]) 07:12, May 19, 2022 (EDT)
:<nowiki>[, ], and | are used in regex syntax, so escape those with a backslash (\). Nothing special up to :, so that can go in as is. To make sure the text on both sides of the pipe are the same, you'll want a capture group and backreference it. A capture group is in parenthesis () with the rules inside. You want everything up to the pipe, in other words every character that is not a pipe. Desired characters go in square brackets [], we can use ^ to get everything except what is after the ^, so ^| is everything except the pipe (you don't need to escape the pipe here, but sometimes you do). Since there's multiple characters, use + to indicate 1 or more characters to capture. Put the escaped pipe after. To reference what was just captured, use \N where N is the index of the capture group in the order they appear, so you want \1 for the first (and only) one. The replacement text is much simpler because there is barely any syntax to escape, but instead of \1 you use $1. And, ta-dah, you have a pile of lines and curves.</nowiki>

Pikachu (SSB4)

The piece of trivia stating that Pikachu in SSB4 being the second Smash fighter overall to have a swirled-eyed stunning animation? I, too, made a similar trivia edit about it back in 2016, but a fellow user previously unedited it, so are you sure you should be doing it? Not that I'm complaining. I just didn't want you to make the same mistake I did. Juju1995 (talk) 17:37, February 11, 2021 (EST)

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding your comment or if there is a misunderstanding with the edit. In regards to the edit, an IP added trivia about Pikachu's sleep animation. They put this after trivia about Pikachu's stun animation but before the sub-trivia about Kirby doing something similar in SSB, causing the two points to be disconnected and it appearing that Kirby moved his mouth when sleeping in SSB (which isn't true). --CanvasK (talk) 18:04, February 11, 2021 (EST)

"what is required for a character to get a page?"

Broadly speaking, that they be playable, summonable as part of a playable character's moveset, an Assist Trophy, a Mii costume, an item (in any mode), or a stage element that isn't just in the background, but actually affects gameplay. Background characters who are non-interactive should remain limited to this article. Miles (talk) 22:32, February 17, 2021 (EST)

Noted. I feel like there should be a policy page about stuff like this, or at least added to an existing policy. Hard to know this stuff without asking or being reverted. --CanvasK (talk) 22:46, February 17, 2021 (EST)

Corresponding Mii Costumes

First of all, huge thanks for introducing me to this editing technique.

Second, I believe what IP was going for were the Mii Costumes that released on the same day as their respective fighter (i.e. Persona costumes with Joker, Dragon Quest costumes with Hero, SNK costumes with Terry, etc.). Rex's Mii Costume was released long before the Xenoblade 2 girls ever joined Smash. SmashTurtlesSig1.pngSuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle TribeSmashTurtlesSig2.png 19:36, March 4, 2021 (EST)

I did consider that but I couldn't tell based on the rest of the trivia point. If that is the case then fair enough. --CanvasK (talk) 19:41, March 4, 2021 (EST)

My apologies

I joined the smash wiki specifically to fix that thing about marth but stupidly I did not know the 1.2x multiplier was a thing, mistake on my part, I appreciate you noticing it before I did! The wiki is a lot more quicker at noticing things than I expected it to be! I probably will sign wrong so apologies in advance. ImMrShroom (ImMrShroom) 11:46, March 8th, 2021 (EST)

I just happened to check my phone when you made your edit. Sometimes it'll go unnoticed for hours, especially with the massive cleanup project happening. --CanvasK (talk) 11:55, March 8, 2021 (EST)

Special move gifs

Since you're the one who normally uploads the gifs of special moves in Ultimate, were you planning on doing so for Pyra and Mythra's special moves, or should we find other images to use on those pages? Not a pressuring question or anything, just a matter-of-fact one. Miles (talk) 12:23, March 10, 2021 (EST)

Actually I think DigitalHazard is the one who did the majority of the special move gifs. I did Sephiroth's because the ones that were uploaded by others were not up to standard and I wasn't sure when/if DH was going to redo them. Regardless I can get working on Pythra soon if DH doesn't. Not sure when but probably sometime this week. --CanvasK (talk) 12:34, March 10, 2021 (EST)
Ah, my bad. Just figured I would check who had done Sephiroth's and forgot to check if you had done the rest, oops. Mostly I just wanted to take care of the redlinks in the infoboxes, but it doesn't have to be you or anything. Miles (talk) 12:37, March 10, 2021 (EST)
Fair enough. Honestly the only thing I don't like about doing them is trying to recreate DigitalHazard's format so that everything is consistent. I'd spend about 20 minutes recording, 30 minutes converting, and 2 hours making sure it matches DH's format. --CanvasK (talk) 12:51, March 10, 2021 (EST)
Donezo. For documentation purposes the format is: relevant omega stage, ditto match, Stamina match, "<CHARACTER> <DIRECTION> B <2..N?> SSBU.gif", 480x270 preferred (if file is >10MB then 450x253, 420x236, 390x219,... until <10MB), start 12f (.2s) before first frame of attack, end about 0.2s after player or opponent lands/ending animation or whatever is visually nice. Summary is <CHARACTER>'s [[<ATTACK>]] in ''Ultimate''.\n== Licensing ==\n{{License-screenshot}}\n[[Category:<CHARACTER> (SSBU)]]\n[[Category:Animated images (SSBU)]]. I don't have plans to work on the victory poses, idle poses, or taunts, but if no one does after a while (or I get bored) then I might. --CanvasK (talk) 23:40, March 10, 2021 (EST)
Much appreciated, regardless. Thanks. Miles (talk) 23:54, March 10, 2021 (EST)
My bad about that, I used to do gifs for specials, taunts, idles, and victory poses by uploading them to my Switch's SD Card, but the problem is that my Switch SD Card reader got busted not long after Steve's release so I've been unable to do as I used to and I have yet to get a replacement. I appreciate trying to keep the format though, albeit I don't really used to do it in stamina matches, rather I did it in 1-stock matches where I equipped a second controller with the Soma Cruz and Celebi spirits so it would have Great Auto Heal and some defense, so the knockback wouldn't be so severe and to keep the opponent from accidentally being killed, as I recorded all specials and FS in a single match. Not saying you have to change though, saw the gifs and they still look good, if anything I wish I remembered stamina matches have less knockback back then. DigitalHazard (talk) 01:03, March 11, 2021 (CST)
That sucks, sorry to hear about that. If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about framing for the taunts and idles and was there a specific cue (eg frame 1 minus a bit) you used to start? File stuff seems straight-forward. I don't mind taking up the task when I get the motivation. Trying to keep everything consistent and seamless for readers is the main thing that burns me out with these kinds of things; everything is smooth sailing after that. Hopefully you get a fix for your SD Card reader, things more important than gifs is affected by that. --CanvasK (talk) 06:56, March 11, 2021 (EST)
I always liked to show the taunt/idle animation after about 5-6 frames of showing the characters into their normal idle stance, and same for when when it ends. I believed that made the transition of movement less awkward, while still keeping it under a consistent 2.0 seconds. And yeah, trust me, sucks that whenever I want to play a game like Three Houses or BotW, I have to delete another for space issues. DigitalHazard (talk) 00:49, March 13, 2021 (CST)

User images in infoboxes

Hey, Canvas. Since you're the most tech-savvy SmashWiki user I know, I thought I might ask for some help.

So recently, I have updated my SmashWiki profile pic with a drawing of my 'sona. Considering this drawing was made in MS Paint and has a resolution of 82 x 169 pixels (and given how long it took to make that picture, I would rather not go through the trouble to rework on it to make it larger), I would rather have it appear pixel perfect instead of appearing unappealingly large on my infobox, but I can't seem to find a way to adjust the image size with the infobox (Infobox Smasher) I am using. Do you know if SmashWiki has such a method?

On a somewhat related note, I'm also wondering if there is a way to make it so your profile pic automatically changes depending on a certain time without having to manually edit it yourself each and every time (for example, during the entirety of March, my icon would change to my green jacket variant. When the month of March ends, my icon would change back to my blue jacket variant). SmashTurtlesSig1.pngSuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle TribeSmashTurtlesSig2.png 10:00, March 17, 2021 (EDT)

The image param automatically puts the input into the image format (or whatever it is called), so no luck there. The caption param, on the other hand, doesn't assume anything. So what you can do is you can put the image into the caption param and resize it like you would elsewhere (ie |capation = [[File:Example.png|200px]]). This is how character infoboxes add the series symbol under the image. There's also free art programs like GIMP or Paint.net that allow for pixel-perfect scaling if you want to go that route.
As for the time-based change you can combine a {{#switch}} function and the {{LOCALMONTHNAME}} variable. The #switch takes an input (in this case {{LOCALMONTHNAME}}) and chooses an option based on it. For this case it would look like{{#switch:{{LOCALMONTHNAME}}|March=Blah blah|December=Snow time|#default=Everything else}}. You can read more about functions here and about varibles here. I've messed with something similar when trying to make a timezone-aware template, but because the wiki caches pages it wouldn't actually update. This may work better since it uses a different function than what I used, and on the scale of months the page should cache in that time. If not then you can just go to your userpage and hit save, I think that'll update the cache. {{Birthday}} uses a similar thing, but I've not kept an eye on it to see how quickly it updates.

Regarding the Moonwalk article

Hey I'm new to the wiki and I saw you reverted my changes because of poor wording (probably fair, not a native english speaker myself). What are the steps to get it approved? Could you help me with the wording? The current article contains a lot of misinformation, and I think this is worse than poor wording. But fixing the wording too would be the best way to go, of course. Thanks :) Kalua (talk) 09:46, March 19, 2021 (EDT)

After re-reading your edit to try and add stuff to the article I did notice it was not too poor, it was just one sentence I got stuck on. The main thing is the use of "you". According to the Manual of Style you should not say "you", "your", or anything directly addressing the reader. It is preferred to use "the player" or other third-person words.
The second thing is the format in the editor. You put every sentence on its own line which makes it harder review the edit and make future edits. If you can, try not to make a new line after every sentence (unless you are making a list of things).
Honestly I think just those two are the only things to look for. As I mentioned since every sentence was on a new line it made it confusing to judge the edit, and I'll admit that may be why I was quick to revert. --CanvasK (talk) 10:10, March 19, 2021 (EDT)
It's alright, I just had a discussion with Serpent King on the discord, and he helped me a bit with the wording. I saw your edits, and the article still contains some misinformation. I will try to get an new version with better wording. Should I just edit the article then, or is there some way put my changes into some review queue? Kalua (talk) 10:19, March 19, 2021 (EDT)
Unfortunately there isn't a review queue. I think it'd be fine to edit the article. I'll be less quick to judge since I understand more of what is happening (and that I've had more time to wake up). --CanvasK (talk) 10:30, March 19, 2021 (EDT)

"How are combos glitches?"

I think what AoFS was referring to was the concept of combos in fighting games originating as a glitch during the development of Street Fighter II. You can find more info here.

Though admittedly, I don't think the trivia is worth keeping, anyway. SmashTurtlesSig1.pngSuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle TribeSmashTurtlesSig2.png 16:50, March 19, 2021 (EDT)

A bit of help needed

Hello, I am the person updating P+ costumes for the different characters. I have ran into some issue that I can't seem to fix, Samus has 16 costumes (unlike the regular 15), so at first I chose to display them on a 4x4 grid. However I later realized that images with an horizontal bias favor the page much more, and thus I tried to update the file with a new 8x2 grid. The problem is that the file doesn't seem to correctly update, it looks like it takes the new resolution but keeps the original image stretching it. Weirdly enough it, looks good when accessed from "File History" and in "Size of this preview". I am probably missing something since I'm new in the wiki, maybe you can help me with this.—Preceding unsigned comment added by DonHuea (talkcontribs) 16:01, April 2, 2021 (EDT)

It's a very common issue. You just need to clear your cache, which you can do by pressing CTRL/⌘ + F5 (or whichever your browser refresh key is), CTRL+SHIFT+R also works. That should clear it up. --CanvasK (talk) 16:09, April 2, 2021 (EDT)

Tabbers

Hey, so I'm planning to do something about two of my own Chronicle pages sometime in the future (provided that my personal requirements on those respective pages are fulfilled) that should look something like this (Unfortunately, trying to show off the code by itself results in a major bug that completely breaks the page, so I am forced to use the code-nowiki trick. If you really wanna see how it looks, I suggest just removing everything irrelevant to the code on here and then view it via Show Preview to fully understand my points below):

I'm trying to make it so that the "Enix Titles" tabber is right next to the "Square Titles" tabber, but no matter what I try, it always ends up below the regional tabbers of the Square tabber instead, and none of the tips I could find online were helping in my favor. Anything you know of that might help? SmashTurtlesSig1.pngSuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle TribeSmashTurtlesSig2.png 20:10, April 13, 2021 (EDT)

You can use multiple classes on the same element, similar to how tables are often a "wikitable" class and a "sortable" class. In this case you want Square Titles to be both a tabber and a tabbertab. So you'll want to have a tabber that holds everything and controls the highest level tabs (Square and Enix). The tabbertabs would then be Square Titles and Enix Titles. Those also need to be tabbers themselves, so now you have class="tabbertab tabber". Within those you do the normal tabbertab routine.

Theoretically you could have tabbers in tabbers in tabbers in tabbers in tabbers... but at a certain point it becomes a mess both in code and in output. --CanvasK (talk) 20:32, April 13, 2021 (EDT)

Project Clean-Up

Hi! Per Trig Jegman's request, is there any way you can move Project Clean-Up to your userspace? He isn't on NIWA anymore. ~ StrawberryChan (talk) 14:21, April 18, 2021 (EDT)

Uh, sure. Didn't expect that honestly. I was wondering why he deleted his userpages on the other wikis. Do you happen to know and can say why that is? It's fine if not. --CanvasK (talk) 14:27, April 18, 2021 (EDT)
I don't, I'm afraid. The request was relayed to me from the co-lead of WiKirby's Project Clean-Up. ~ StrawberryChan (talk) 16:02, April 18, 2021 (EDT)

Colors or Colours

Are we suppose to use "Color" or "Colour" on the Wiki? I ask this as I see a 62 other pages using "Colour" when searching the spelling on the Wiki. Wolff (talk) 08:29, June 15, 2021 (EDT)

It depends on what the article uses. If the article uses American spellings for everything, then use the American spelling for everything else; if the article uses non-American spellings for everything, then use the non-American spelling for everything else. Another thing I've noticed is if articles use one spelling, then related article should also. For example Armor uses the US spelling, when List of armored attacks (SSBU) was first made it used "armoured" (the non-US spelling) in the title. It was changed to the US spelling later because the other articles about armor (and itself) use the US spelling. See also the Manual of Style. Unrelated: your signature has " " in it, which translates to a space; not sure if you intend it to be there. --CanvasK (talk) 09:00, June 15, 2021 (EDT)
That's the thing, from what I could tell, the spelling does not seem like it is consistent across page types. Also, not entirely sure what you mean about the signature. Wolff (talk) 01:21, June 16, 2021 (EDT)
That's all I know about the policy. I'd defer to someone else, maybe an admin, if you need more help. For the signature here's a screenshot of what I mean. The underlined section gets translated to a space. It doesn't hurt anything, just something to note in case you wanted to reduce bytes. --CanvasK (talk) 06:23, June 16, 2021 (EDT)

Joker's taunts and female Byleth's taunt.

Hello, I flagged the .gif files of Joker's taunts as low quality a good while back because Arsene is not present (he poses alongside Joker and Morgana during the taunts), and I also flagged female Byleth's up taunt as missing because she does a different pose than the male. Since Kazuya is releasing soon, I am giving you an heads up so that if you want you can take aside a moment to take care of those while you are uploading Kazuya's animations. --Rdrfc (talk) 14:18, June 27, 2021 (EDT)

I can try to do those two later today. --CanvasK (talk) 14:53, June 27, 2021 (EDT)
Thank you for that and sorry to bother you again, but I noticed that the infobox for Straight Lunge doesn't have a KO Punch gif and it would be good to have one. --Rdrfc (talk) 11:45, July 3, 2021 (EDT)
Done. It's not a bother, the only annoying thing is having to wait for the replay to process and turning off the switch to transfer the SD card. --CanvasK (talk) 13:51, July 3, 2021 (EDT)

Pokemon Trainer image link

Hi! Its me Green and I need some help with this image: Pokémon Trainer (SSBU) I do not know how to get rid of the link.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Pokemon trainer Green (talkcontribs) 00:22, July 10, 2021 (EDT)

Make sure you read the wiki's signature policy. The file is here. If you're wanting to use the image for your signature, you'll need to reupload it under a new name. --CanvasK (talk) 05:52, July 10, 2021 (EDT)

Bandai Namco and ARMS

From what this article states, Bandai Namco helped produce half of the visual assets for the stages, fighters and arms from the game.

That being said, I feel their contribution to ARMS is far too small to warrant mentioning the characters on their page. JacketTerraSig1.pngThe Jacketed TerrapinJacketTerraSig2.png 20:43, August 8, 2021 (EDT)

I didn't see them listed on Wikipedia or the ARMS product page, so I figured there was no involvement. Good to know. As you've said, don't think it is a large enough role to mention on the page. --CanvasK (talk) 21:01, August 8, 2021 (EDT)

Spirit Battle Template

Hi, it's been a while.

I need an honest opinion on the Spirit Battle template we were proposing to change recently. You said you couldn't figure a way to separate a Spirit Battle's original content with the specific DLC changes, so I went ahead and tried a few things. I used the four hyphens (----) I normally use to separate the Spirit Battle inspiration from any additional trivia. It doesn't mark the exact change in grey, but it's separated the DLC nonetheless.

You can find the changes here: https://www.ssbwiki.com/User:Autismo555 Autismo555 (talk) 09:14, September 12, 2021 (EDT)

I'm not sure where I mentioned I was having that problem. Regardless, I have my own idea on how to put DLC changes in the same cell as the non-DLC that is more upfront as to what it is (even the current design can be a little ambiguous for newcomers). I plan on making a separate proposal on it at a later date to avoid having five different proposals doing different things stepping on each other (like it is now).
Also, you say on your page that I suggested that layout but it was actually Gambler Mario/MariusM. The talk page is a mess, so I'm not surprised and is why I made a page to consolidate everything. --CanvasK (talk) 09:38, September 12, 2021 (EDT)
Alright, I thought I'd ask. It looks like the collapsible tables might work.Autismo555 (talk) 10:11, September 12, 2021 (EDT)
Although, I'm not sure about the 80% size of the text. I'm sure it's to make some room on the mobile view, but the regular-sized text makes it easier to read.Autismo555 (talk) 10:27, September 12, 2021 (EDT)

Why did I duplicate the image?

I did want a tag to note that we should add dlc characters but I couldn’t find a suitable one

Gligar2007 (talk) 21:40, September 15, 2021 (EDT)

You just need the {{Image}} template. You can list what image(s) you think needs added. --CanvasK (talk) 21:42, September 15, 2021 (EDT)

Rollback

I've seen you revert a lot of edits lately, so I was wondering if you ever considered applying for rollback. Rollback would make reverting multiple bad faith edits easier. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 16:52, September 20, 2021 (EDT)

Haven't given it much thought. It might help when my internet randomly decides to take forever loading, but it isn't really something I care to go for at the moment. --CanvasK (talk) 17:52, September 21, 2021 (EDT)

How do I fix a broken link?

I made my own CSS and after Sora was announced, I put in his stock icon but it showed up as an error. I thought it would take time for people to get the stock icon but I see some pages have it now.

Is the coding incorrect or do people just need to grab the stock icon from the game or something?

Gligar2007 (talk) 14:30, October 5, 2021 (EDT)

Everything is correct. Whenever you link to an image that doesn't yet exist, it may still show as missing even after upload. All you need to do is wait a bit after the upload, open the edit page, then save (don't have to change anything). This forces the wiki server to recheck the page and in the process it will (usually) add the image in. I went ahead and did it and it seems to be fixed. Same process for pages that show up in "Pages with broken file links". --CanvasK (talk) 14:39, October 5, 2021 (EDT)

Spirit Battle inspiration proposal follow-up

Hi!

Sorry if I seem like a broken record, but have we reached, or if not, can we reach a consensus about using MariusM's proposal and your collapsible table addition for the Spirit Battle inspiration? It just seems now or soon will be the perfect time for it, since the KH Spirit Battles aren't far away. Autismo555 (talk) 11:26, October 6, 2021 (EDT)

Consensus means there's been votes for one of them. There hasn't been any new votes and there's at most 3 votes for any given one. I'm still of the belief that it would be best to restart the proposal since the scope has changed from the original proposal. The existing inspiration should also be looked at, otherwise we just push an existing problem elsewhere. --CanvasK (talk) 12:03, October 6, 2021 (EDT)
Alright. You still have my vote for MariusM's proposal and your addition to it. It just makes it easier to read.Autismo555 (talk) 13:41, October 7, 2021 (EDT)

Yes, I’m her

My pronouns are she/her/they/them, so that’s fine if you call me a They/them. And ofc I’m like the most researched vandal in history ;) - I’m a autistic (wiki page:autistic) teenager, who’s gender is female! (another wiki page: female) That’s me ;) 17:00, March 26, 2022 (EDT)

RfA

Sorry if this comes off as too forward, but I was wondering if there was any particular reason you haven't applied for adminship on the wiki? I don't think I'm alone in saying that it seems like you'd be well suited for the role, and you're certainly more active on the wiki than most of the current admins. So I wanted to ask if there's a reason why you haven't applied, or if you're simply not interested, because if not, is it something you'd consider? Alex the Weeb 18:38, March 29, 2022 (EDT)

I've only humored the idea in regards to being a janitorial admin. That is, removing redirects/images that typically end up in speedy delete. That and possibly obvious cases of bad faith/vandalism. Those would be the only obligations I can see myself being comfortable with. Outside of that I haven't given it much thought. I keep wanting to say "I don't have the confidence to do X as an admin" when I've probably done that at some point. I think I'd need to work on my self-confidence before... I have the self-confidence to apply... assuming I consider doing it at all. --CanvasK (talk) 19:33, March 29, 2022 (EDT)
You aren't obligated to use all of the powers that adminship gives you, if that's what you're concerned about. What you just described is like 90% of what admins do, and with how active you are, it would make things run a lot more smoothly. I also believe you would receive support if you applied, so I definitely think you should consider it. Alex the Weeb 20:55, March 29, 2022 (EDT)

This revert…

…was a rollback misfire. Sorry about that. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 19:11, March 29, 2022 (EDT)

Heckin' the more vandals I deal with the more I think about getting rollback, but the more misfires I see the more I fear having it /j At least it gave an opportunity to list a source in the summary. I didn't believe it at first without it. --CanvasK (talk) 19:33, March 29, 2022 (EDT)
You should definitely request Rollback regardless. You've got to be among the most active vandal warriors on the Wiki right now, but as far as I know you're one of only two who still doesn't have it (Jacket Terrapin is the other). Don't even worry about misfires, the staff is super understanding about it given that you fix it quickly; the application process will be a breeze given your track record, and the tool will be more than worth the effort. Sincerely, Samuel the Banjo-Kazooie Boss. SamtheBKBossSIGN.png 19:42, March 29, 2022 (EDT)
…and even if you don’t fix it and someone else does, you’re fine as long as you explain yourself. Sometimes even that isn’t needed. Black Vulpine the 🦊Furry🐺. Furries make the internets go! :3 20:04, March 29, 2022 (EDT)

SW:QDV

If a clear bad faith user makes a post on their talk page like this, do not bother responding to them. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:29, April 28, 2022 (EDT)

I thought I would get a QDV mention. I figured that since they brought the conflict up on Miles' talk page a while back, that there was a slight chance that they could be convinced they were wrong and would stop in the future (assuming they never checked back on Miles' talk page and missed the edit summary).
Off-topic but I've wanted to mention it for a while, the image in your sig uses the old "Image" prefix instead of the more modern "File" prefix and there is white-space around the filename that doesn't do anything. Minor but something that I felt like mentioning at some point. --CanvasK (talk) 15:40, April 28, 2022 (EDT)
The sig image has been fixed. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 15:52, April 28, 2022 (EDT)

Regarding PNGs

Since the topic has come up, I think this is something to mention. While this Wiki has no stated preference for image formats, some NIWA Wikis state that PNGs are preferred over JPEGs for gameplay screenshots, due to lossless formats being a better representation of actual gameplay, particularly native res lossless images. I think this is a sensible rule, and where possible it makes sense to apply it here. Obviously I do not have the means to do this myself, as the Switch's built in capture feature doesn't let you save captures as PNGs, or at native res, even when using a microSD card. If you do have the means to do this, I would like to ask you to do so. If you're not willing to do this, would it at least be possible for you to upload a native res version? Alex the Weeb 20:54, May 11, 2022 (EDT)

I understand the reasoning, if I recall the Mario Wiki outlines their format preference. Of course I'm not going to go around and redo everything as PNGs (unless they are objectively poor quality), but if the clarity is important to the content then I can do so. If I have the means but am unwilling to upload, then why would I be willing to upload? --CanvasK (talk) 21:23, May 11, 2022 (EDT)

Regex examples

I suck at using regex so I'm asking you, how would you handle replacing all links such as [[Tournament:Test|Test]] to {{Trn|Test}}?--Rdrfc (talk) 07:12, May 19, 2022 (EDT)

[, ], and | are used in regex syntax, so escape those with a backslash (\). And, ta-dah, you have a pile of lines and curves.
\[\[Tournament:([^|]+)\|\1\]\] -> {{Trn|$1}} --CanvasK (talk) 07:47, May 19, 2022 (EDT)

"Pointless" changes

The reason why I made those pointless changes is so my edit count would go up a bit. I even knew some of them were pointless, but yet I made the changes anyway. This actually reminds me of the very same thing on English Wikipedia to a larger extent. --DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:45, May 20, 2022 (EDT)

Yeah don't do that please. If you are caught doing that again there will be consequences. Serpent SKSig.png King 16:57, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
