Victra is a Canadian Melee smasher and tournament director from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and is one of the members of Teh Fair and The EHsians. Victra and his fellow crew mate K Lover were dedicated Super Smash Bros. 64 players in their earlier days, but it wasn't until Super Smash Bros. Melee's release on the Gamecube that the two literally became infatuated with the game.
Victra became aware of the competitive Melee scene in late 2005 after reading a article about the game in issue 195 of Nintendo Power titled "Smash Planet". The article included such topics as SmashBoards, Ken Hoang, MLG, and rumours about a new installment of Super Smash Bros. tentatively titled Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This article also included a brief description of wavedashing and other competitive techniques that had been discovered. Victra began to get involved with the SmashBoards website shortly after and started playing Melee more competitively. After this discovery, he began to teach what he learned to his friends and began building a community in his city in 2006 onwards.

Victra, though playing SSBM for 2 years after the purchase, was unaware about the game's competitive scene until late 2005 after reading a large article about the game in issue 195 of Nintendo Power, "Smash Planet". The article included such topics as SWF, Ken Hoang, MLG, rumors about a new installment of SSB, as well as a brief description of wavedashing. Even then, Victra only began to playing SSBM more competitively, signing up on the SWF, and discovering the competitive nature of the game. After the his discovery, he began to teach what he learned to his crew mates and friends.

A year after discovering the competitive scene, Victra and K Lover (Capt.1337 at the time) decided to host a Smash tournament in their city Red Deer in order to find more competition in Red Deer - because at the time, the only people in Red Deer playing Smash competitively were themselves. After advertising the tournament in the SWF and Nexopia (an Alberta equivalent of Myspace) they recieved tons of replies. They failed to meet very many competitive players in their city, but to their surprise, people from outside the city came to participate. (FalseFalco, FastFox, RJM etc.) The unprecedented attendance paved the way for future CAST tournaments and the second occurrence attracted not only much of the same crowd, but even pulled members of the venerable Punch Crew out of retirement. The third CAST event occurred on August 11th, 2007 in the Snell Auditorium of the library. Victra, the tournament director, was unable to attend this event because of personal reasons and the responsibility for the tournament was heavily placed upon assistant directors Levi and Backitch.

2 years after the CAST1, the tournament series had grown to become a nation-wide tournament, where players from Washington, such as Eggz and Silent Wolf, and even Australian smasher CAOTIC, came to participate.
Between 2009 and 2013, Victra shifted his focus towards his University studies. At the end of his senior year in 2013, Victra established a formal Super Smash Brothers student club that laid the foundation for a centralized community for the Alberta Smash scene. Victra continued his role as a community leader, tournament organizer, and top competitor in his region until 2016 when his activity began to decline as he shifted his focus towards his full time work as a civil engineer and his girlfriend. However, Victra remains an active presence online for his community acting as a community adviser for community and event decisions, and continues to attend locals from time to time.

Not only does Victra host his own tournaments, Victra has attended several tournaments stretching across the west coast of Canada and the United States. During the Summer of 2007, Victra traveled to Seattle, Washington for family reasons. Taking advantage of his stay, Victra attended various tournaments such as Seattle Smash events and the infamous Game Clucks, playing against several well known players such as NoobKing and Silent Wolf. During his time there, Victra teamed along with Washington's ThePrime for various doubles tournaments. However, for family reasons, this trip caused Victra to miss out on his own tournament, CAST3, giving the director seat to BackItch.

Later that year, in the midst of December, Victra attended At Melee's End where he landed 3rd in his pool, took 17th place in singles and 17th in doubles along with K Lover. Not only did Victra attend the event as a participant, Victra also filmed the event, interviewing players such as MikeMonkey and ManLi and posting documentary-like episodes on the Smash World Forums.

Victra is a Canadian Melee smasher and tournament director from Alberta, Canada. Victra is largely responsible for organizing the competitive Super Smash Bros. community in Edmonton, Alberta. As of the end of 2016, Victra has been largely inactive as a competitive player, but remains active as a community adviser and attends locals from time to time.

Background[edit]
