Teddie (クマ, Kuma) is a character that originates from Persona 4.

Origin[edit]

Teddie is one of the playable characters in Persona 4, acting as the comic relief character of the cast and making many bear-related puns. He serves as the guide for the Investigation Team in the Midnight Channel. Before joining the player's party, he acts as support for battles, but after the party completes the Marukyu Striptease dungeon and defeating his own shadow, he becomes a playable character, using the Persona Kintoki-Douji. As well as obtaining his own Persona, Teddie also creates a human form from his own empty shell, which allows him to leave the Midnight Channel. Near the end of the game, it is revealed that Teddie was a shadow that gained his own ego so that humans would adore him.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

As a background character[edit]

Teddie inside the TV in Ultimate.

When the Mementos stage is using its Persona 4 design due to music from that game playing, Teddie makes a small cameo on a screen, being shown dancing inside a TV; this is based on the loading screens of Persona 4.

As a costume[edit]

A Mii Brawler wearing the Teddie hat.

Teddie serves as the basis of the Teddie Hat DLC headgear for the Mii Fighters. He was revealed during the New Content Approaching (Joker) presentation on April 16th, 2019.

During the reveal trailer, the Mii Brawler wearing the Vampire Outfit representing Teddie is first seen jumping from behind a Barrel on the Delfino Plaza stage's gondola layout, referencing how Teddie reveals his human form, Ted after popping out of his Teddie costume at the Junes Food Court. The Mii Brawler is next seen battling Zero Suit Samus on the Garden of Hope stage, referencing the Hollow Forest dungeon from Persona 4 Golden. The ending image features the Mii Brawler attempting to kick the sign of the Gerudo Valley stage, where the circular target pattern resembles the logo for the Midnight Channel.
