Abra (ケーシィ, Casey) is a Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It briefly appears in the introduction movie of Super Smash Bros. Melee and later as a Poké Ball summon in Ultimate.
Origin[edit]
Abra is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #063 as the "Psi Pokémon". It evolves into Kadabra starting at level 16, which evolves into Alakazam when traded. It is notorious for only learning Teleport by leveling-up, which means that in wild battles it will run away whenever given an opportunity to act, thus being difficult to catch.
Teleport is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation I, where it was also TM30. When used by a wild Pokémon or during a wild encounter, the user will flee from battle, ending it. In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! onward, it lets the user switch to an ally under a negative priority bracket; it would always fail during trainer battles in previous games. The move will fail when the opponent uses a trapping move, has a trapping ability, or is in a non-single battle. If a player uses it outside of battle, they'll be taken back to the last place they healed at.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]
An Abra makes a brief cameo appearance in the opening movie, during the sequence that shows dozens of Pokémon.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
As a Poké Ball summon[edit]

—Super Smash Blog, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Official Site |
Abra gets close to an opponent, then Teleports itself and its target to a random position, often dropping the targeted fighter off the stage.
Abra cannot be summoned on 3D Land, Balloon Fight, Boxing Ring, Bridge of Eldin, Coliseum, Delfino Plaza, Dream Land GB, Figure-8 Circuit, Flat Zone X, Garreg Mach Monastery Golden Plains, Great Bay, King of Fighters Stadium, Living Room, Mario Bros., Mario Galaxy, Minecraft World, Mishima Dojo, Mushroom Kingdom, Mushroom Kingdom II, Mushroomy Kingdom, Onett, Pac-Land, Rainbow Cruise, Shadow Moses Island, Spiral Mountain, The Great Cave Offensive, WarioWare Inc., nor Tortimer Island, most of which feature walk-off blast lines.

Trivia[edit]
- While Abra can't appear on Minecraft World, it appears during the Enderman Spirit battle on the same stage. This makes it one of two assist characters to appear on a stage in which they normally cannot be summoned in during a spirit battle, the other being the Moon, which appears in the Battlefield form of Shadow Moses Island during the Radiant Gleam spirit battle.
