:To be quite frank, given that this wiki is a community effort, it shouldn't solely be my (or any administrator's) job to check to see if a speedy delete image (or page) still links elsewhere, since it's being marked for "get this out of the way ASAP". That is not to say that I won't check again in the future, however.
:As for the image itself, replacing the image in the user's userbox with the currently active JPG doesn't change a thing, and the new file is, in fact, the same as the old one (just as a JPG instead of a PNG). <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 10:38, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
::And before a foul cry is made, I did bring back the image just to check, before fixing the broken image link myself. <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 10:42, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
:::I'm not defending the behaviour of whoever tagged the file, but as an admin it absolutely is your responsibility to check yourself before you delete the file. It even reminds you to do this on the speedy delete template. Also, you say that like checking the file usage is a burden when the file page itself lists any pages which use the file, including user pages, so it really isn't that big a deal to just make sure that things like this don't happen. <span style="color: blue;">Alex</span> the <span style="color: red;">Jigglypuff trainer</span> 10:48, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
It is the admin's responsibility to make sure that a file is not used when deleting it. If it is, it is also the admin's responsibility to decide whether or not the file should be kept (in the case of it being used on userspace, it should), or deleted and the images removed. Given that this was a replacement for userspace, you probably should have just flipped it over yourself, or at least asked the user to. <span style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva;border:outset #083 2px"><span style="color:#083;background:#ed0;padding:1px">Serpent</span><span style="color:#ed0;background:#083;padding:1px">King</span></span> 11:22, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
:Like I said, it shouldn't (in my opinion) be left up to solely us. But, given that we're the only ones who can actually delete images, I guess it's only fair. I'll keep a better watch next time. <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 12:16, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
Once again you appear to have caused a similar issue. Currently, all 8 pages in the broken image links category are redirects to files you deleted, but that you neglected to delete the redirects to. Once again this could have been avoided if you had checked the what links here section. Can you please try to do this in future. :For what file, if I may ask? I'll get on it. Usually stuff in the speedy delete is stuff that's unused, so something may have just flown under the radar. :::And... Fixed. Sorry about that. It must have recognized that those were images when I broke the redirects by tagging them for deletion. Hey! Another issue. https://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Terry_Bogard_SNK.png has been giving me a insanely tough time with trying to remove the background. == PO Fighting or Sport ==
The site that you listed, Retrogamage, is a fan site. At the very least not run by Nintendo. Every site I go on lists Punch-Out as either a fighting game or “also” a sports game. Such as its wiki which classifies it as both, at least by the wiki itself. As well as popularity sites and videos. Punch-Out does happen to match the definition of a fighting game. But all that doesn’t matter. If Punch-Out, and its characters, is not going to be listed as a fighting game on here, then it shouldn’t be referred to as such then. Calling it a “non-traditional” fighting game, is still considering it a fighting game. Please remove any mention of it not being a “non-traditional” fighting game if it’s not going to be considered as such. 172.58.173.180 16:23, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
:You missed the part where I said "zoom in on the box art", because, if you look at the box art, you'll see that the game is classified as one of the NES's "sports series". Calling it a "non-traditional fighting game" isn't even an accurate statement, because it's not a fighting game to begin with. Yes, there is fighting in it, but the center of the game is the sport, not the fighting. Boxing is officially classified as a sport, and games based on it are sports games. Is Wii Sports a fighting game because it has boxing in it? No. <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 17:09, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
I know you're not in charge of Smash Arena but...
I figured since you're the most active you're the best person to ask: will we be getting a new SA event soon? Magicant has been the winner for the last 4+ months and this one is going over a year and a half. I tried contacting the operator Toomai and bumped it twice (the only reason I did it a second time is because he was online and recently commented on his talk page, otherwise I wouldn't have) but he never responded on the matter. Why is the wiki still in red when the Sans/Banjo/Terry news are old now? 174.55.24.64 19:26, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
:It's not about the recentness of the news - it's about the information we have left to cover. Terry still isn't out yet, there's more characters on the way, multiple characters still lack information about their moves, and that's just the Ultimate stuff - we're still missing stuff from Smash 4, even. There's a lot we don't have, so that's why we're on red. == Moving reeling to hitstun. ==
They should be right.
*Reeling happens after you get hit.
*But reeling happens before tumbling.
*You can't move when reeling.
*Reeling is more like another knockback animation.
Can't you just move reeling to hitstun instead? 209.140.44.247 17:56, November 11, 2019 (EST)
:<s>Hitstun and reeling aren't the same thing at all. Hitstun refers to the period of immobility that happens right when you're hit; it happens before any form of knockback, including reeling. ~ <span style="color: #e68;">Serena Strawberry</span> (talk) 18:01, November 11, 2019 (EST)</s>
::This isn't quite accurate. Reeling is an animation that occurs during hitstun, which occurs during knockback from attacks (excluding windboxes). It may not be a perfect solution, but reeling would definitely fit better in either hitstun or knockback than tumbling. == Non-Sword Moves ==
Yes, I AM aware that the other Fire Emblem characters have grab oriented moves (i.e. pummels and throws) that don't involve the use of their swords, but that is NOT what I was talking about. I meant moves such as their ground moves and aerials. I must admit, though, that I DID forget to mention Robin's spells, and for that I thank you.
Anyway, I have no intend on re-adding my discovery back to the wiki page (as it would no doubt be a waste of my own time). Maybe next time, put a little more thought in BEFORE you undo a change in a subject like that. Afterall, someone else may decide to do the exact same thing, and they may not be as easygoing as I am.
I do, however, have one thing to add to the Trivia section that I am sure is noteworthy to point out.

Creating broken image links

This is the second time you have created a broken image link due to deleting a file without properly checking what pages use it. In particular, this file was used in the userspace and so I'm not sure if the replacement file looks the way that user would want it to on his page, so I'd also like to ask if the new file looks the same as the old one? In future can you please be more careful when you delete files. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 07:46, August 30, 2019 (EDT)

To be quite frank, given that this wiki is a community effort, it shouldn't solely be my (or any administrator's) job to check to see if a speedy delete image (or page) still links elsewhere, since it's being marked for "get this out of the way ASAP". That is not to say that I won't check again in the future, however.
As for the image itself, replacing the image in the user's userbox with the currently active JPG doesn't change a thing, and the new file is, in fact, the same as the old one (just as a JPG instead of a PNG). Aidan, the Rurouni 10:38, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
And before a foul cry is made, I did bring back the image just to check, before fixing the broken image link myself. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:42, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
I'm not defending the behaviour of whoever tagged the file, but as an admin it absolutely is your responsibility to check yourself before you delete the file. It even reminds you to do this on the speedy delete template. Also, you say that like checking the file usage is a burden when the file page itself lists any pages which use the file, including user pages, so it really isn't that big a deal to just make sure that things like this don't happen. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 10:48, August 30, 2019 (EDT)

SerpentKing 11:22, August 30, 2019 (EDT)

Like I said, it shouldn't (in my opinion) be left up to solely us. But, given that we're the only ones who can actually delete images, I guess it's only fair. I'll keep a better watch next time. Aidan, the Rurouni 12:16, August 30, 2019 (EDT)

Once again you appear to have caused a similar issue. Currently, all 8 pages in the broken image links category are redirects to files you deleted, but that you neglected to delete the redirects to. Once again this could have been avoided if you had checked the what links here section. Can you please try to do this in future. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 13:12, November 19, 2019 (EST)

For what file, if I may ask? I'll get on it. Usually stuff in the speedy delete is stuff that's unused, so something may have just flown under the radar. Aidan, the Rurouni 14:06, November 19, 2019 (EST)
All of these pages as of me writing this are redirects to files you deleted. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 14:08, November 19, 2019 (EST)
And... Fixed. Sorry about that. It must have recognized that those were images when I broke the redirects by tagging them for deletion. DekZek Dekzeksig.png 14:42, November 19, 2019 (EST)
Don't worry about it, those redirects should have been deleted along with the files they pointed to in the first place. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 14:57, November 19, 2019 (EST)

Normally, when you upload a new image, the cache isn't updated automatically; hard refreshing the page will fix the issue. Aidan, the Rurouni 03:53, September 8, 2019 (EDT)

PO Fighting or Sport

You missed the part where I said "zoom in on the box art", because, if you look at the box art, you'll see that the game is classified as one of the NES's "sports series". No. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:09, September 15, 2019 (EDT)

I know the status is currently red but I was wondring if you could help, but don't worry if you can't.SupαToαd64, the Best 001Toad.jpg 18:46, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Smash Arena isn't even remotely a priority when the wiki is in red. SerpentKing 19:02, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
SK is right, there's no plan on continuing SA until the wiki gets caught up on SSBU stuff (which probably won't happen until Nintendo stops with the updates). Toomai Glittershine ??? The Sharp 19:21, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Red

Why is the wiki still in red when the Sans/Banjo/Terry news are old now? 174.55.24.64 19:26, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

It's not about the recentness of the news - it's about the information we have left to cover. Terry still isn't out yet, there's more characters on the way, multiple characters still lack information about their moves, and that's just the Ultimate stuff - we're still missing stuff from Smash 4, even. Beast Ganon/Ganon the Demon King pages issue

The Beast Ganon page has all of the content, but barely any of the history. Ganon the Demon King’s page has all of the history, including the talk page, but none of the content. Also, everything that link’s to Ganondorf’s final smash links to Ganon the Demon King, despite all of the content being on the Beast Ganon page. 47.176.58.199 18:58, November 1, 2019 (EDT)

Yea, there was a bit of the issue with the moving process. I'll see what can be done about it. Aidan, the Spooky Gentleman 19:41, November 1, 2019 (EDT)
Just found out about this too. That’s a pretty big technical issue. There’s a move tag on Beast Ganon, but considering how it looks like it was moved before the text was copied back, I’m not sure what should be done. 184.181.98.125 19:55, November 27, 2019 (EST)

Moving reeling to hitstun.

They should be right.

 • Reeling happens after you get hit.
 • But reeling happens before tumbling.
 • You can't move when reeling.
 • Reeling is more like another knockback animation.

Can't you just move reeling to hitstun instead? 209.140.44.247 17:56, November 11, 2019 (EST)

Hitstun and reeling aren't the same thing at all. Hitstun refers to the period of immobility that happens right when you're hit; it happens before any form of knockback, including reeling. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 18:01, November 11, 2019 (EST)
This isn't quite accurate. Reeling is an animation that occurs during hitstun, which occurs during knockback from attacks (excluding windboxes). It may not be a perfect solution, but reeling would definitely fit better in either hitstun or knockback than tumbling. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 18:24, November 11, 2019 (EST)
Ah, I was mixing up hitstun and hitlag. Yeah, ignore that then. Either way, not the right place for discussion. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 18:48, November 11, 2019 (EST)

Maybe it's a better idea to move it to knockback instead. 209.140.44.247 18:09, November 11, 2019 (EST)

Well, to begin with, I don't see why you came to me when there's a discussion already on the talk page that could have easily been bumped to get other people to have a discussion about it. I can't make a decision that isn't consensus-based outside of very specific cases (for example, moving a smasher's page to their new tag). Aidan, the Rurouni 18:31, November 11, 2019 (EST)

I'm a bit confused.

I can't figure out how to edit pages that do not contain any information... sorry, I'm pretty new and just trying to help out. I can't mark incomplete pages as incomplete because they're unable to be edited. I also can't edit my user page. Thanks. --Monokuro (talk) 9:55, January 9, 2020 (EST)

What pages are you referring to? If they're in the incomplete category, then they should already be marked as incomplete, which means that they just need more info.
I kind of wanted to point them out myself to get a bit of experience, but here are a few. These aren't marked as incomplete yet. Link (SSBU)/Down special Link (SSBU)/Final Smash --Monokuro (talk) 10:34, January 9, 2020 (EST)
Additionally, if you are not autoconfirmed (which means you've been around on the wiki for at least a week and have 10 edits), you won't be able to make a page. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:04, January 9, 2020 (EST)
I'm not trying to create a page, just edit in a tag to one that already exists. --Monokuro (talk) 10:34, January 9, 2020
Never mind, you're right, you're right. The page doesn't exist. I'm really new, sorry. --Monokuro (talk) 10:38, January 9, 2020
You don't have to apologize! Being new isn't something to be sorry about either way. Feel free to let me or any other admin know if you have any other questions, and enjoy your time on SmashWiki! Aidan, the Rurouni 10:42, January 9, 2020 (EST)
Oh okay, thanks! I do have a question about one thing, actually. In what format do you set your signature in the settings? Do you just enter in what you want your signature to display as, or do you have to enter using wikitext format? Monokuro (talk) 10:52, January 9, 2020 (EST)

(Reset indent) In preferences (top right of the wiki), you'll notice a box for your signature. You can either set it up as wikicode (which I do), or you can have the text just default to a link to your userpage. There are certain rules you have to follow with your signature, however, so keep that in mind. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:55, January 9, 2020 (EST)

One more thing. If I wanted to incorporate an image into my signature (with wikicode), how would I go about doing that?Monokuro (talk) 11:19, January 9, 2020 (EST)
You would link to it in the wikitext, and it also has to be within a certain size restriction. Aidan, the Rurouni 16:18, January 9, 2020 (EST)
Sorry to bother you one last time, but I can't seem to put my signature in small caps... I'm fairly certain that I've got the right code, does the wiki support small caps? <Test> Monokuro signature icon.png [talk | contribs] 22:19, January 9, 2020 (EST)
If you want lowercase letters, you can just put them in, like so:

<span style="color: red;">monokuro</span> [<span style="color: blue">talk</span> | contribs]

I don't believe we actually have a smallcaps template. Aidan, the Rurouni 22:33, January 9, 2020 (EST)

Byleth

That trivia was good, plus Ismailis trivia is mentioned in the Sothis page and the Waluigi page. People should not kill Sakurai for adding a fictional character they don’t like in Smash. Just like the dumb Waluigi fan base. 174.55.24.64 14:40, January 17, 2020 (EST)

I agree, but, as I said in my edit summary, there's a line between "haha yea people make jokes out of this" and "people actually really hate this". Aidan, the Rurouni 14:45, January 17, 2020 (EST)

I initially missed the fact that an IP (in this case, you) also added the artwork back, so the IP I'm referring to is the one who put up the notice and removed the artwork. Sorry for the confusion! Aidan, the Rurouni 02:50, January 22, 2020 (EST)

Smash Ultimate Twitter pictures

Given that they're nothing more than the pictures themselves, which are just for fun and not like these that actually held some significance, I don't think that's all too necessary. Aidan, the Rurouni 01:20, January 23, 2020 (EST)

Is it possible to change the size of an imgur image

Shulk's trunks outfit (along with ZSS's shorts) was the only modelswap costume missing from the infoboxes, so I added in Shulk's. However, the only way I could add it in made the image way oversized. Even after add ing a |250px to chamge the size, it didn’t do anything. I know I could make an account to properly upload it, but I personally feel like hat would be too much of a commitment. 72.203.118.154 17:33, January 26, 2020 (EST)

Given that it is a link rather than an image file itself, I don't believe it is possible to change the size of it. I think actually uploading the image is the best way to go. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:40, January 26, 2020 (EST)

Non-Sword Moves

Thecontributor22 (talk) 01:32, January 28, 2020 (EST)

I mean, maybe from time to time I make a dumb move, but there is thought that goes into what I do and don't do. Whether or not someone is easygoing has no bearing on what I do on the wiki. Aidan, the Rurouni 01:42, January 28, 2020 (EST)

Help with translating from Japanese

Yeah sorry I know I came to you just two days ago, but you and Toomai are the only users here I that I know knows a bit of Japanese. Basically, since male Byleth and female Byleth have different names in Japanese, female Byleth's tagline can't be the same as the English one. "Byleth recruits Byleth" refers to the first one (the male one) despite the tagline being for the female one. I'd use google translate, but I don't even know how to type the characters in, nor do I know what the sounds are. 72.203.118.154 23:51, January 28, 2020 (EST)

The pun-based taglines are a localization thing; all characters use "参戦!" after their name in Japanese. Aidan, the Rurouni 23:54, January 28, 2020 (EST)
Shoot I didn't even realize they used the same tagline after their name. Sorry. Thanks for letting me know immediately. 72.203.118.154 00:04, January 29, 2020 (EST)

Full Protection request for Leak

A user named Thegameandwatch keeps removing be move tag on Leak despite an ongoing discussion, and has just done so for the fourth time earlier today. I don't think that blocking him would the best thing, since a lot of his other edits are good faith, but the page should probably fully protected until a consensus has been reached on if it should be moved in order to prevent the tag from being removed again. It's going to be a while until rumors start popping up again, and even longer for some of those to come true, and by that time the consensus should be reached. 72.203.118.154 19:14, February 9, 2020 (EST)

If they continue, despite the two messages left on their talk page, I will step in. Aidan, the Rurouni 19:19, February 9, 2020 (EST)

Consensus advice

On Talk:Powershield I suggested to move it back to Perfect shield (ignore the format this was back when this wiki stiff was new to me), and so far it's been months and 4 users supported perfect shield while no one supported powershield. So would this be considered a "consensus"? If so I'll move the page. 001Toad.jpg OmegαToαd64 02:28, February 14, 2020 (EST)

I would call that consensus. Aidan, the Lovely Rurouni 02:33, February 14, 2020 (EST)

Similar reason move tags

Xenoblade (universe) has a move tag to be renamed to Xenoblade Chronicles (universe). Would I be allowed to add move tags to corresponding music, spirit, and trophy pages, or keep it on just the one page to keep discussion in one place? 72.203.118.154 21:34, February 18, 2020 (EST)

I don't know if I would call the GCN logo representation of a company, since Nintendo owns the logo, regardless of who created it, no? Aidan, the Rurouni 11:16, March 19, 2020 (EDT)
I was specifically referring to the ATI logo itself, which can be seen as a sticker on both, real life and Melee GameCubes. --What could possibly go wrong? - BubzieBobkat (talk) 11:20, March 19, 2020 (EDT)

Fix on Shulk (SSB4) and Shulk (SSBU)

The symbols don’t show up anymore on the fighter pages, and I can’t find where to add in the symbol for those infoboxes. 72.203.118.154 23:17, March 22, 2020 (EDT)

Unless something happened between last night and this morning that I was unaware of, then I think everything's actually fine. I was able to fix it, at least temporarily. Hey, I'm just wondering, why does editing your user page eventually put you on probation? and how do I make a table or something that displays the characters I play? Gamer600000 (talk) 17:42, April 11, 2020 (EDT)Gamer60000

 1. Sign your comments with ~~~~, nothing else. That'll get rid of the extra "Gamer60000" at the end there.
 2. If you're editing your userpage too much and not editing the rest of the wiki, then it's made clear to us that you don't really want to be a part of the wiki editing and are just here for fun. We're not a forum, we're a wiki.
 3. You have to have the completed template. All that you're missing is the }} needed to close the template, since it's just sitting out there in the open as incomplete wikicode. Putting }} at the end of it all should fix the issue, but I don't know if it'll yell at you for missing other things. If it does, remember to mess around by using the show preview button and seeing if it'll display first, and then save your edit.

I'd say it looks fine, but you may want to search for consensus before integrating it (not that I think you wouldn't gain that, especially since what we have in place is not the best idea). Aidan, the Rurouni 00:38, April 23, 2020 (EDT)
