#SmashTheRecord was created in attempt to run an event that is much different than other Smash tournaments with a focus on raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Though still a tournament, the event runs for over 60 hours straight, with many side events such as: team with your significant other, low-tier tournament, reverse main tournament, oven mitts challenge, etc. The event is most notable for the ''Mango vs. The Baddies'' event in 2014 where Mango faced 40 people with four stocks each (while only having 16), where he defeated all 40 players while only losing eight stocks. In 2015, the event added Speedrunning which attracted runners such as: [[Narcissa]] (formerly Cosmo), Trihex, [[Fuzzyness]], Iateyourpie, Carcinogen, and many others.

Biography

Origin of the Name

Cherry is pulled from his last name "Chiricosta" (which many people pronounced 'Cherrycosta'). One day while playing FIFA on Xbox Live, he was getting really frustrated over lag, which his roommate walked in to say "Yo...stop raging, Cherry!" Though his tag is officially RagingCherry, he prefers to be called Cherry.

Other Games

Divekick

One of Cherry's favorite games, a two-button fighter that relies on reading your opponent. Though the scene is small, they have a handful of dedicated players who enjoy running Divekick as a side event at majors. He plays the characters Dive and Kick as they are the most basic of characters.

Tournament Date Placement
CEO 2014 June 27th-29th, 2014 9th
EVO 2015 July 17th-19th, 2015 4th
SoCal Regionals 2015 October 9th-11th, 2015 3rd

Halo/Call of Duty

Cherry played nothing but the Halo and Call of Duty for over 10 years. He was particularly skilled in 2v2 tournaments, and loved using sniper rifles in both games. The main attraction to the games for him was due to the fact that many of his friends either were pro players, or traveled across the country to compete in events. He also made a few montage videos for himself and friends for fun. Though he does not play anymore, he still remains an avid fan of the current Halo and Call of Duty games.

Paragon Tournaments

Paragon Orlando 2015 was formed when Cherry was approached to run an Apex World Circuit event. Cherry then approached Eric Santner of VS Gaming Center to partner with on the event. After being a huge success, the two decided to push the event to the West Coast for Paragon Los Angeles 2015. There has not been any official statements regarding the continuation of the Paragon Circuit as of today.

#SmashTheRecord

Personal Life

Cherry obtained a degree from the University of Central Florida with a major in Production, minors in both Digital Media and Coaching. He now works for ESL in California as an Associate Producer, and continues to host events such as #SmashTheRecord and the Paragon tournament series.

Cherry was also a collegiate wrestler for UCF, where he holds the record of pins (77 career), and was a 3x All-American wrestler, placing 4th/5th/4th in the nation from 2012-2014, with a record of 107-26 in the 125lb. and 133lb. weight classes. Cherry is also a 3x SEC Champion at 125lbs. He quit wrestling in his 5th year of college in order to pursue gaming as a career.
