Hiya there! Welcome to DracoRexKings page, also known as Yesz! in-game. I mostly make edits to pages that are incomplete, needs to be reorganised, or lack information that I find important. I have school during weekdays, though, so I tend to not be so active during those (except Friday :D).
Welcome to DracoRexKings territory! Get to know more about this peculiar, rather uncommon but valuable user.

If you want to ask me something or play with me, leave a message on my talk page.

About me
About me
*Spanish is my mother language. I'm from Chile. I started learning English when I was 5 by translating words from my videogames with the help of books or online translators, to the point I knew to write and speak English in full lines when I was 9. What further taught me subsequently was visiting internet websites in English like this wiki, and figuring out how things were worded. As of now, I still thank videogames for this.

**Something that also aided me a lot in this was a Pokémon Handbook I had in Spanish with all the locations, types and attacks existing in Gen I, which I used to compare the names with the English ones in Pokémon Stadium, thus enabling me to translate words very quickly (e.g. "tipo Fantasma" to "Ghost-type", and "Lanzallamas" to "Flamethrower"). If I'm certain, it was this handbook.
*I mostly make edits to pages that are incomplete, need to be reorganised or lack information that I find important. Other than that I rarely make huge edits as the pages I'm interested in tend to have enough information, albeit I've still made some (especially here).
*I learned to read at the age of 4 thanks to interactive PC games.
*I tend to be a quiet person, talking only when I find it necessary or when I find something I'm interested in. I dislike any type of bragging or showing off.
*I tend to be a quiet person, talking only when I find it necessary or when I find something I'm interested in. I dislike any type of bragging or showing off.
*When someone doesn't know about something that isn't commonsense (e.g. a specific movie, videogame, etc.), I always tell them about it (if I know) instead of insulting them or bringing up idiotic comments like "What have you done all your life?". They are different people that do different stuff, so I respect that. Likewise, I prefer talking to people who think this.
**However, I can easily get into any conversation about topics that interest me (these are mainly videogames, dinosaurs, math, interesting facts, and other entertaining things spread across the internet), and I have a great sense of humour. Oh, and I love teasing people I trust well (with friendly intentions, of course).
*My favorite subjects at school are English (I do excellently at this) and Math.
*In videogames, I appreciate variety over anything else. In the case of Smash, I find the games better the more characters they have and the more balance there is between them (so all characters are given a relatively equal representation; sad that no Smash game has achieved this...), even if some seem stupid, out of place or gimmicky.
**While I have no problem with semi-clones, I do find full clones should be worked on more (especially the ones in Smash 4).
*When it comes to competitive play in videogames, I despise luck-based mechanics that you cannot easily adapt to (e.g. if Peach gets a stitchface, you can avoid it, but if you trip, you're screwed) causing you to lose even when you're clearly more skilled and experienced at the game than your foe, which is why I agree with the competitive Smash rulesets. Like, when I spend weeks and even months getting good at a game to then get beaten by a newbie just because of some stupid RNG that cannot be manipulated... it burns my spirit.
*I like animals, especially domestic ones; I'm often friendly towards them and give them the same respect people generally give to humans. I absolutely hate any abuse done to animals.

**I also like dinosaurs, which you might somehow see reflected in my name...
Videogame history
I started playing videogames at an early age (I think 3 or 4) with the Nintendo 64. I enjoyed playing many classics like Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Ocarina of Time and Pokémon Stadium, and between those games, there was Super Smash Bros. I found it a really funny and interesting game, watching characters of the many games I owned fighting each other... though it wasn't really my favorite game because it was rather lacking on content in comparison to my other N64 games, and the N64 controller's stiff Control Stick made my thumb hurt after playing it for too long, considering the game's emphasis on the use of the Stick (yeah, this was a common problem for another game).
After the GameCube came out and I found out about the existence of Melee, I was extremely excited and wished to get the game, which I did along with the console in 2001 Christmas, being my first GCN game along with Pikmin (yeah, I got the Olimar trophy) and Super Mario Sunshine. I had lots of fun playing it with my family and friends, as well as myself alone, especially because of its new content making the game like 5 times bigger than the N64 one, namely the new characters, stages and game modes, my favorite being the Events. In fact, about 90% of my Gamecube playtime as on Melee. At that time, my N64 controllers' Control Sticks had worn out (fucking fragile things), so I eventually lost interest in it and played more on my Gamecube.

When the Wii came out, it was a great opportunity trying games like Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess (never owned the GCN one), and Brawl again made me go aboard the hype train. When the game finally came out, I had noticed its slower gameplay and other changes I didn't like (such as changes on Events and Mario's much shittier moveset), but its new modes still caught my attention, especially the Subspace Emissary which is want I spent almost my whole time in during my first days of playing the game. The game didn't really feel comfortable to me with the Wii Remote, so I remained using my GameCube controllers.
People I like
*Those with interests in common with me.
*Those who appreciate my work/help and trust me.
*Those who can respect other's opinions.
*Those who can carry on a conversation employing commonsense and humor without saying something out of place or offending you (such as by saying something you clearly dislike).
*Those who can initiate conversations (given my quiet character) without being unnecessarily apprehensive. I'll never be annoyed if you want to talk to me, and in case I'm not in a really suitable mood, I'll say so.
*Those who like animals... or dinosaurs (if you like both, that's <span class="explain" title="Note that I'm indifferent when it comes to swearing">damn</span> good :D).
*Programmers. They're pretty cool people.
*Related to videogames, those who can respect the way in which you play: your mains, playstyle, preferences, skill, everything. And those who can accept a loss.
**I know some people get upset when they lose (including me sometimes), but that doesn't give them a reason for blaming the other player unless they want to be made fun of. I also have mixed opinions about people who quit matches: in a sense, it's their way of saying "I give up, you rekt me" or "I screwed up", but some don't try at all and/or quit excessively.

Competitive Smash
People I hate
While I had spent most of my videogame time on the Smash games back then, it wasn't until 2012 that I knew the competitive scene. Before that, I knew all of the characters' basic attacks (jab, 3 tilts, dash attack, 5 aerials, 3 smashes, 4 specials, grab and 4 throws) and often went to Training to test them and learn the damage some of them did, but my abilities weren't really consistent: while my memories of playing Smash's versus modes before being competitive are kinda hazy, I do remember I didn't short hop to use aerials or shield and dodge attacks as often, making me literally a "glass cannon" (though I didn't just run to my foe and use dash attack like most other casual players do). Also considering I mostly played free-for-alls on random stages with items on. Back then, the character I used the most in Brawl was Mr. Game & Watch, with whom I often used his strong forward air and smash attacks.
*Those who underestimate your abilities, or otherwise don't recognise your talents claiming that "anyone else could do that".
*Those who think your opinion doesn't matter.
*Those who show off about everything, or try hard pretending to be someone or something they aren't.
*Those who treat you as an ignorant for not knowing about an specific game, show, book, band, etc., deliberately offending you. Different people grow up with different media and different hobbies, so respect that. And in that case, wouldn't it be more productive if you instead let the other guy know about that certain thing?
*Those who overuse jokes and memes to the point of being zero funny at all and annoying (e.g. a certain phrase spoken by this guy, even though I like him...)
*Those who are mean to <span class="explain" title="Innocent ones, I mean: of course you should defend against a rabid dog trying to kill you">animals</span>. All those people are dead for me.

Years later, I once visited this wiki merely to know more information about the games, when I found out all about competitive terms and advanced techniques, as well as the games' fundamentals (e.g. punishing, spacing), tier lists, competitive rules (e.g. no items, legal stages). I wanted to know more about these, so I went through the articles and tested these techniques in my Melee, along with watching tournament matches and tech skill videos on YouTube. My perspective of the games had definitely changed then. This affected my friends (or more generally, people that I knew that played Smash) as well, albeit they sadly didn't appreciate the games as much as me, claiming that I "was being too serious on a game meant for fun" and not really caring about improving their skills. As such, practically nobody I know personally as of now plays at my level, preventing me from consistently showing my skills and actually knowing how good I am in comparison to other competitive players, and I still consider myself a big fish in a small pond up to this day. It's hard taking into account that where are live, there are barely any Smash tournaments with actually good players.
(If you exhibit or have exhibited any of these behaviors, just avoid them when talking to me and it'll be fine. I love you all (no homo). And in case you are wondering, no, I never exhibit any of these behaviors myself.)

Since I was already part of the competitive scene when Super Smash Bros. 4 was revealed and came out afterwards, I mostly judged the game from that perspective, and overall I find it much better than Brawl, with it now being the Smash game I play the most thanks to its better online mode, AI, and the more laid-back play the 3DS version offers (allowing me to play it anywhere).
Stand on each Smash game
Basically what I think of each game, formatted as a list using "buff" & "nerf" templates, which indicate what I like and dislike of the games, respectively. A "change" template indicates something I've mixed opinions about or towards I'm neutral.

Playing with me
SSB SSB
Simply add my 3DS friend code or NNID on my Smasher infobox, and I can play with you fine when I'm active. If I'm not on the IRC, leave a message on my talk page. My home Internet for some reason gives me issues when Smashing online against other people in my 3DS and Wii U, and we haven't had time to contact customer service, so I instead use my phone's Internet for playing Smash, which is 3G and has nothing connected to it besides my 3DS/Wii U, so it goes fine except against people with overworked Internet. As such, be sure to have a stable connection when playing with me.
Obtainment: One of the many games I played on my brother's N64 since I was very young. Don’t exactly know when he got it.
*Really fun to play as the first Smash game.
*Overpowered L-canceling makes aerials hype.
*Kirby is amazing in this game.
*Has the best Falcon Punch.
*The Green Shell glitch is fun.
*
**
**
**
**
*Fastfalls cannot be performed while using aerial attacks.
*The infinite throw trap.
*
*
*
General opinion: Pretty fun game, although not one I'd play at tournaments.

For the games I use the tag "Yesz!", which is also the name I use for other games like Zelda and Pokémon. It originally started as a simple joke name in a reference to the Captain that I decided to use when I began playing Smash competitively, and since then I have used it for everything else I have played, since it's something with which I can be easily identified (due to not being any similar names out there, I mean).
SSBM Melee
Obtainment: 2002 Christmas if I remember correctly, bundled with the Gamecube console itself.
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*Jigglypuff is amazing in this game.
*
*Master Hand glitch is super fun.
*
**
**
**
*Wobbling.
*
*
*There could be more variety and balance among characters...
*
*Appreciations on the AI are the same as in SSB.
General opinion: A huge and really enjoyable classic, and definitively the top Gamecube game for its age, but when it comes to competition I prefer playing Project M (due to basically being an improved Melee) and Smash 4 (more character variety and easier for other people to get into it) despite Melee having a larger competitive scene. Also, I hate Fox in this game (I do like Falco though).

My stand on each game
SSBB Brawl
*64: Three words: Smash in diapers. Pretty basic as expected from the first Smash game. I tend to play this more for fun than the other Smash games, because I find it unbalanced: offense is a hundred times over defense, with the exaggerated hitstun, no DI and owerpowered L-canceling allowing a single hit to guarantee death with your next followups, while shieldstun is annoyingly high considering there's no powershielding, and only rolls exist, which also have more endlag than in posterior games. As such, I wouldn't really like playing the game competitively in a serious way, though I still enjoy occasionally kicking ass in it abusing the best techniques it has that aren't in the other Smash games, especially against the dumb AI which is amusing to battle. In regard to how I play the game, I had previously downloaded it for my Wii's Virtual Console, where I played it with a Gamecube controller like the rest of the games, but one day the data was lost, so I now play it on Project 64 instead, using a software to make the Gamecube Adapter for Wii U work on my PC. Not only I no longer possess the game on my N64 (R.I.P), but I wouldn't be able to play it with the current condition of my N64 controllers' Sticks anyway, and I wouldn't afford another Stick or controller. Also one thing I don't like about the controls is the obligatory tap jump, in addition to no C-stick, even when the D-Pad could've easily worked like one. It's cringeworthy to see my character accidentally jump in midair when I try an up air.
Obtainment: Right at launch.
*Melee: My favorite Gamecube game, and also my favorite Smash before Project M 3.0 and Smash 4. It was the game with which I started being a competitive player. It has much more content than the 64 game which makes it more enjoyable, and its gameplay is way more balanced, along with being faster-paced and having more advanced techniques for more in-depth battles. I do find, however, that the way in which some players abuse them is unnecessary: playing to win doesn't mean you should wavedash every single second. I dislike chaingrabbing and edgehogging; the former shouldn't be infinite, and the latter just looks like a disrespectful way to edgeguard your foe when you can just hit them with a powerful low-angle attack as they aim for the edge (considering there's no auto-grabbing). On the other hand I do enjoy others like dash-dancing, crouch canceling, edge canceling and the B-reversing, which I use often. Overall the game is fine for me, but I don't know anyone that plays it seriously (most of the people I know just say "nah it's similar to Smash 4" and make fools of themselves), so I can't properly get prepared for high-level play, since the AI in that game is worthless. As for the single-player modes, what makes them more difficult in my opinion is the useless C-stick instead of the "<span class="explain" title="dumb as fuck">more advanced</span>" AI or worse handicaps.
*Angling forward smashes is easier.
*Brawl: Meh, I don't play this at all. Slow and campy, more unbalanced than ever, no compensation for removed techniques (unlike Sm4sh which did stuff like reducing the landing lag of some aerials) and nonsense like planking and hitstun canceling. In other words, a game where the negative aspects and unfair techniques can be easily abused. Not to mention it's completely outclassed by Sm4sh as of now. The only things I would say it has better than other Smashes are the Subspace Emissary and Boss Battles. But even then, I can improve my gaming experience on those with Project M, which also has more fun VS. modes.
*
*Project M: Sparkled a lot of interest in me when 3.0 came out, adding back most of the things I liked in Melee as well as better stages. It also gave Brawl newcomers I disliked playing due to their poor moveset the buffs they deserved (e.g. Lucas, Charizard, Sonic), revived Mewtwo and Roy making them more useful and enjoyable to play, and is so far the only Smash game (although not official, sadly) where Zelda is worth it. Even my cousins agreed that it was the best Smash at its time, with one of them becoming obsessed with Ike's Quick Draw "fatality" (lol). Although for this game I'm still limited to not being able to play with any competent players (since the AI doesn't seem to know what it's doing most of the time), it is generally more enjoyable for me to play alone than the other Smashes, and the better controls and tweaks (e.g. optional tap jump, visible L-canceling) make it a better competitive game for me. 3.5 improved it further by making Stamina mode how it should be (in a mode were you have to deplete your foe's HP, is ridiculous that blast lines can still KO you), fixing Subspace Emissary and adding Debug mode and All-Star Versus mode. In short, a pretty fun mode to play.
*Footstooling and the new taunts are fun.
*Sm4sh: Currently my most played Smash game. I have both versions as you might already know, so I go for 3DS when I'm not at home, and otherwise play Wii U for the more "tournament style" play and distinct modes. First of all I'd say I generally like the changed made to it from Brawl, especially the return of true combos, ledge stealing, rage (better for heavyweights, who often place low in Smash games...), removal of random tripping (of course), nerfed camping and faster falling speeds & gravity. I do however dislike the other half of changes, like the unnecessarily longer survivals due to better recoveries and easier-to-abuse dodges (rolls are ridiculous, and air dodges now make edgeguarding almost nonexistent), the different DI also delaying KOs for longer, less useful throws (for most characters only down throw is useful), overuse of shields due to still being very safe and - as a result - grabs, and rarer Star/Screen KOs. Nonetheless, I still enjoy it due to having the most character variety along with <span class="explain" title="custom chars are fun :3">customization</span>, the best AI (horribly spams with some characters, but it's now finally useful to practice against due to, for example, its dodging of moves while recovering), a better online mode, and being the most common Smash game so I have more opportunities to enjoy it with friends.
*
*
*Boss Battles mode.
*Improved AI.
*
*
*
*
*
*
*Random tripping.
*Even less character balance...
*
*
General opinion: Not a game I enjoy playing competitively. I had my good times with it, but now it's obsolete.

Other Smash opinions
PM Project M
*Zelda sucks in every Smash game to date. Give her better range in attacks, more useful aerials (e.g. less laggy Lightning Kicks with easier-to-land sweetspots) and a proper projectile, and she'll be fine. See her in Project M.
Obtainment: I knew about its existence at the time of 2.6b, and so downloaded it. 3.0 then surprised me and encouraged me to play it even more.
*The more character balance a game has, the better and more enjoyable it is, because then more characters have a notable tournament representation as opposed to just 1/5 of the whole roster. Don't you think it's boring to see Fox all the time in Melee tournies?
*
*Custom characters are fine, with the exception of Rosalina.
*
*For my opinion on wavedashing, chaingrabbing and edgehogging, see above.
*
*Whenever I see a match, I'll always appeal the player with the lower-tier or more underrated character. If both are playing equally overrated characters, or if it's a ditto, it depends.
*
*Why is Time still the default battle mode in Versus?! 95% of Smash players in the world prefer Stock, and that's the setting almost all the single-player modes use anyway.
*Wobbling is gone.
*Smash games should give an option so that items can be equipped by characters and used by them in a pinch, with only one item per player and one use per match. That'd surely allow items to be tournament legal and bring more hype to matches: they are only banned because of random appearances anyway. It's somewhat sad to see them have no use despite forming such a large part of Smash's gameplay.
*
**With this said, tweak items such as Poké Balls so that players can know what Pokémon spawns from them, nerf OP items like the Beetle and Star, prevent battering items from being thrown indefinitely, etc.
*
*To have more legal stages, there should be a "Hazard Switch" that simply disables hazards, and nothing else. For example, Wily's Castle could perfectly be a legal/counterpick stage with just the Yellow Devil removed. Omega stages are pointless: why should we have like 50 boring carbon copies of the same stage, just with a different background nobody will care about during serious matches?
*Super armor was removed when it wasn't even broken.
*I completely agree with this.

*No, taking on many hits and reaching high damage percents doesn't mean you're done for. The game is about launching your foe offstage, not dealing the most damage: your percentage doesn't matter if you can avoid getting hit afterwards. In Sm4shs case, rage can even help you.
*

How For Glory should've been
SSB4 Sm4sh
*Global Smash Power should've been a thing in this mode as well, with the number determining what type of players you'll encounter, although their GSP is not displayed. Battling against scrubs all the time sucks.
Obtainment (by retail for both): SSB4-3At launch, albeit not by pre-order. / SSB4-UHad to wait for it until Christmas since Pokémon Omega Ruby came out at the same date and I decided to buy that one. I did, however, get the bundle including the Gamecube Adapter and a cool Smash Edition controller (which is the one I currently play with). A pretty Smashing Christmas, as I also got some amiibos in addition to the bundle.
*Free-for-alls and Team Battles should've also been 2-stock matches of 6 minutes (1 more minute than in 1-on-1), with For Fun being designed for Time matches.
*
**For Team Battles, players have an option whether to allow their ally to use Share Stock or not. If they decide to have it disabled, they'll likewise only encounter allies with the option disabled as well.
*
*Team attack should be on. I know this would've caused a lot of griefing, but to avoid that, make it so that the game detects how many times a player has attacked their ally compared to actual enemies, and if the ally was attacked more times, the griefer is disconnected at the end of the match and banned for a long time from Team Battles (like 1 week, though only from that mode), while the ally's winrate is unaffected. In short: team attack on in For Glory, and off in For Fun.
*The much needed removal of hitstun canceling.
*In Team Battles' Two Players option, players should be able to team up with a CPU, with levels from 7 to 9 depending on the matchup (e.g. GSP difference, other players' characters).
*
*In 1-on-1, self-destructs shouldn't count as a KO for the other player.
*
*In all For Glory modes, instead of going to Sudden Death, the player with the lowest damage percentage at the end wins; Sudden Death only comes if both have equal %.
*Planking is gone.
*Stages: Instead of Omegas, players fight on a unique stage with variable background and blue cybernetic-style floors, making them feel like in an environment where they're fighting a distant, unknown player. The stage comes in 4 randomly-selected forms: Omega (Final Destination), Alpha (Battlefield), Beta (Smashville) and Delta (Brawl Yoshi's Island: Can be wall jumped on and has a moving platform in the place of "Randall"). Players can select any game music to play during these stages, thus being able to listen to their favorite music online (what the Omegas in the final game failed to achieve), and the background in these changes depending on the music, resembling the stage in which the selected theme would play.
*
*
*
*
**
*
*
*Improved online mode.
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*Why don't Star/Screen KOs occur all the time anymore?
*
*
*
General opinion: An amazing game with tons of content that fixed Brawl's messed up gameplay and did better than that game appealing to both casual and competitive players, and while it has its flaws, its vast character variety and large playerbase is enough for me to enjoy it competitively. The 3DS version also allows me to play Smash anywhere, something I really like.

Self-judgment (my advantages and disadvantages)
I'm also a huge enthusiast of the Pokémon games. My favorite Pokémon of all time is Nidoking, present on my profile and signature, and often having a big place in my team. Other favorites of mine are Charizard, Tyranitar, Aerodactyl and Bisharp, and my favorite non-evolved Pokémon is Tyrunt. As for the games, the one I play the most frequently is Omega Ruby, and I also play on the online simulator Pokémon Showdown. In case you play as well, I can trade you any Pokémon you want, no problem with that.

*No capture cards, so I can't get good-quality pics of Smash games without ripping them off random (most of the time) YouTube videos.
*As I go to school, I might be online here but not actively improve the wiki due to work.

Trivia
*Spanish is my mother language.
*I learned to read at the age of 4 thanks to interactive PC games.
*I play all Smash games so far with Gamecube controllers (Smash 3DS being the obvious exception). In the case of SSB, I play it on Project 64 with a software enabling me to use the Wii U Gamecube Adapter on my PC.
*My original game tag when I started playing the Smash games competitively was "Yesz!", as an anonymous joke name alluding to the amazing Captain I second in Melee. This was also the name I used for other games that require such, like the Zelda and Pokémon games.
**My current game tag is "DREX" in Melee and Brawl/PM, and "DRexKing" in Sm4sh, so people can actually know who I am, since I never used the name "Yesz!" for any online games except Smash and the Gen 6 Pokémon games. For game series where you can't change your name after selecting it (like the Zelda and Pokémon series), though, <span class="explain" title="Don't ever think I'll start the whole games all over again just for a name">I still use the name "Yesz!" for consistency</span>.
*My favorite color is red.

About me

File:NidokingMS.png
Sheer Force.
  • I mostly make edits to pages that are incomplete, need to be reorganised or lack information that I find important. Other than that I rarely make huge edits as the pages I'm interested in tend to have enough information, albeit I've still made some (especially here).
  • I tend to be a quiet person, talking only when I find it necessary or when I find something I'm interested in. I dislike any type of bragging or showing off.
    • However, I can easily get into any conversation about topics that interest me (these are mainly videogames, dinosaurs, math, interesting facts, and other entertaining things spread across the internet), and I have a great sense of humour. Oh, and I love teasing people I trust well (with friendly intentions, of course).
  • In videogames, I appreciate variety over anything else. In the case of Smash, I find the games better the more characters they have and the more balance there is between them (so all characters are given a relatively equal representation; sad that no Smash game has achieved this...), even if some seem stupid, out of place or gimmicky.
    • While I have no problem with semi-clones, I do find full clones should be worked on more (especially the ones in Smash 4).
  • When it comes to competitive play in videogames, I despise luck-based mechanics that you cannot easily adapt to (e.g. if Peach gets a stitchface, you can avoid it, but if you trip, you're screwed) causing you to lose even when you're clearly more skilled and experienced at the game than your foe, which is why I agree with the competitive Smash rulesets. Like, when I spend weeks and even months getting good at a game to then get beaten by a newbie just because of some stupid RNG that cannot be manipulated... it burns my spirit.
  • I like animals, especially domestic ones; I'm often friendly towards them and give them the same respect people generally give to humans. I absolutely hate any abuse done to animals.

People I like

  • Those with interests in common with me.
  • Those who appreciate my work/help and trust me.
  • Those who can respect other's opinions.
  • Those who can carry on a conversation employing commonsense and humor without saying something out of place or offending you (such as by saying something you clearly dislike).
  • Those who can initiate conversations (given my quiet character) without being unnecessarily apprehensive. I'll never be annoyed if you want to talk to me, and in case I'm not in a really suitable mood, I'll say so.
  • Those who like animals... or dinosaurs (if you like both, that's damn good :D).
  • Programmers. They're pretty cool people.
  • Related to videogames, those who can respect the way in which you play: your mains, playstyle, preferences, skill, everything. And those who can accept a loss.
    • I know some people get upset when they lose (including me sometimes), but that doesn't give them a reason for blaming the other player unless they want to be made fun of. I also have mixed opinions about people who quit matches: in a sense, it's their way of saying "I give up, you rekt me" or "I screwed up", but some don't try at all and/or quit excessively.

People I hate

  • Those who underestimate your abilities, or otherwise don't recognise your talents claiming that "anyone else could do that".
  • Those who think your opinion doesn't matter.
  • Those who show off about everything, or try hard pretending to be someone or something they aren't.
  • Those who treat you as an ignorant for not knowing about an specific game, show, book, band, etc., deliberately offending you. Different people grow up with different media and different hobbies, so respect that. And in that case, wouldn't it be more productive if you instead let the other guy know about that certain thing?
  • Those who overuse jokes and memes to the point of being zero funny at all and annoying (e.g. a certain phrase spoken by this guy, even though I like him...)
  • Those who are mean to animals. All those people are dead for me.

(If you exhibit or have exhibited any of these behaviors, just avoid them when talking to me and it'll be fine. I love you all (no homo). And in case you are wondering, no, I never exhibit any of these behaviors myself.)

Stand on each Smash game

Basically what I think of each game, formatted as a list using "buff" & "nerf" templates, which indicate what I like and dislike of the games, respectively. A "change" template indicates something I've mixed opinions about or towards I'm neutral.

Super Smash Bros. SSB

Obtainment: One of the many games I played on my brother's N64 since I was very young. Don’t exactly know when he got it.

  • Buff Really fun to play as the first Smash game.
  • Buff Overpowered L-canceling makes aerials hype.
  • Buff Kirby is amazing in this game.
  • Buff Has the best Falcon Punch.
  • Buff The Green Shell glitch is fun.
  • Nerf Offense is absurdly disproportionate to defense in many ways:
    • Nerf No DI, which along with the exaggerated hitstun and much more powerful L-canceling, basically means you're dead against any competent player once they land a hit. Heck, even CPUs can combo you easily.
    • Nerf Shieldstun is annoyingly high and there's no powershielding; practically every single L-canceled aerial is safe on shield.
    • Nerf No sidestepping to dodge attacks quickly without risking your shield or using a laggier and more easily punishable roll.
    • Nerf No air dodging, which gives trouble in a floaty game without options to improve aerial movement (Melee has dash jumping, for example).
  • Nerf Fastfalls cannot be performed while using aerial attacks.
  • Nerf The infinite throw trap.
  • Nerf Severe lack of content: the game could've definitely had at least 2 more characters than it ended up having, and maybe more game modes.
  • Nerf No C-stick makes aerial movement less versatile, and, say... causes me to accidentally midair jump when I input an up air, due to the enforced tap jump. Bleh.
  • Change The AI is dumb and amusing to exploit, but these numerous flaws also make it rather worthless to actually train against.

General opinion: Pretty fun game, although not one I'd play at tournaments.

Super Smash Bros. Melee Melee

Obtainment: 2002 Christmas if I remember correctly, bundled with the Gamecube console itself.

  • Buff My favorite Gamecube game, and my favorite Smash prior to Project M 3.0 and Smash 4.
  • Buff Lots of useful movement options (dash-dancing, wavedashing, dash jumping, etc.)
  • Buff Increased falling speeds and gravity, and fastfalls can now be done during aerials: the faster the pace, the better for me.
  • Buff As the Project M Dev Team has said: "Offstage edgeguarding is risky but rewarding, while on-stage edgeguarding is safer but less rewarding."
  • Buff Decreased hitstun and introduction of DI cause combos to take more skill, while still being extremely rewarding if the opponent reacts badly.
  • Buff Punishes out of shield are reasonably possible thanks to the lower shieldstun, powershielding is introduced, and with the nerf in L-canceling, shields are harder to pressure.
  • Buff Introduction of sidestepping and air dodging makes defensive games more versatile than in SSB.
  • Buff Increased grab options (pummel, up throw & down throw), making grab games more interesting and varied in general (some throws are for combos while others can KO, instead of almost all throws being generic KO moves).
  • Buff More interesting stuff like smash charging, wall jumping, wall/ceiling/ledge techs, B-reversing, crouch canceling (this was in SSB, I know, but it didn't keep you on the ground because no ASDI), dash-canceling by crouching, wall-grappling and edge-canceling (really fun to do with Jigglypuff).
  • Buff Jigglypuff is amazing in this game.
  • Buff A vastly larger amount of more entertaining single-player modes to complete, such as Adventure and Multi-Man Melee. My favorite out of all them are the Events, of which my favorite is Event 37: Legendary Pokémon.
  • Buff Master Hand glitch is super fun.
  • Nerf Some advanced techniques like chaingrabbing and waveshining can be really abusive, and people tend to exaggerate about them like if you were a bad player for not using them every single second.
    • Nerf Chaingrabbing is basically spam, just abusing the foe's physics instead. Not really entertaining to watch.
    • Nerf Okay, wavedashing is useful in many ways and one of the most representative Melee techniques, but people shouldn't use it as much as casual players use rolls just to show off "skill".
    • Nerf No, you don't need to play Fox to fully enjoy the game.
  • Nerf Wobbling.
  • Nerf Meteor smashes are rather weak for edgeguarding because meteor canceling can be done pretty early, while most moves that meteor smash are hard to land.
  • Nerf Jump-canceled grabs are unnecessary as with them, dash grabs look useless, and out of shield up smashes are harder to perform.
  • Nerf There could be more variety and balance among characters...
  • Nerf C-stick can’t be used properly for 1P modes, giving me the same tap jump problems as in SSB.
  • Change Appreciations on the AI are the same as in SSB.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Brawl

Obtainment: Right at launch.

  • Buff Angling forward smashes is easier.
  • Buff Air dodges are more useful for the purpose they were intended.
  • Buff Footstooling and the new taunts are fun.
  • Buff Configurable controls, so I can get rid of the pesky tap jump. C-stick now also works properly in all game modes.
  • Buff Snapshots can be taken at any time and, most importantly, replays are now a thing.
  • Buff Boss Battles mode.
  • Buff Improved AI.
  • Nerf As someone who likes playing nimble fighters and enjoyed Melee's fast speed... the nerfed movement options and whole slowed down gameplay were really depressing. Floatiness, removal of dash jumping and wavedashing without compensation, nerfed dash-dancing, removal of dash crouching... yuck.
  • Nerf L-canceling was removed without landing lag in aerials being compensated.
  • Nerf Every character can survive for longer than in Melee, and recoveries were made really easy with the ledge auto-sweetspotting, increased floatiness and ability to grab ledges from behind, causing stocks to take much longer. Additionally, many great moves from Melee such as Rest, Knee Smash and Peach's down smash (it'd have been broken for the SSE & Boss Battles, I know, but then they could've just programmed it to work differently in those modes) were unnecessarily nerfed.
  • Nerf Hitstun canceling was the worst change ever in Smash history. Is a fighting game with no combos really worth it?!
  • Nerf Shieldstun is really low to the point almost no attack is safe on shield, which combined with the decreased shield drop time makes the game really defensively-focused, and thus campy... and boring.
  • Nerf All the highly-rewarding infinite shit like chaingrabs, jab locks, grab releases, Diddy's bananas, planking...
  • Nerf Random tripping.
  • Nerf Even less character balance...
  • Change Events have selectable difficulty: while this allows to increase the difficulty of the otherwise very easy first Events, it breaks the original easy-to-hard ladder style Events had in Melee by also allowing to decrease the difficulty of any other Events.
  • Change SSE was a pretty cool inclusion, and my favorite 1P mode along with Boss Battles, but I feel it also consumed too much development time that could've been used for debugging and balancing characters.

General opinion: Not a game I enjoy playing competitively. I had my good times with it, but now it's obsolete.

Project M Project M

Obtainment: I knew about its existence at the time of 2.6b, and so downloaded it. 3.0 then surprised me and encouraged me to play it even more.

  • Buff Amazing job buffing middle and low tier characters from Melee, as well as bringing Mewtwo and Roy back.
  • Buff Buffed many Brawl newcomers I disliked playing such as Ike, Lucas and Sonic, becoming more enjoyable for me.
  • Buff Separation of the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon and removal of that awful stamina mechanic was much needed. Charizard is now a true beast!
  • Buff Retains minor improvements from Brawl like the customizable controls and easier-to-angle forward smashes, allowing me to play more consistently.
  • Buff Wobbling is gone.
  • Buff Interesting additions like Debug mode, Turbo mode, All-Star Versus mode, more Smash Taunts, and improvements to Stamina mode (making it how it should be). While casual players usually complain about competitive play with "No items Fox only" and similar arguments, PM still greatly improves laid-back play with these modes as well as options like automatic L-canceling and alternate stage loading. Fun to play with friends.
  • Nerf I know the mod's purpose is to implement Melee's glory into Brawl... but still, seeing how much mid and low tier chars were changed, it was pretty uncreative to just copypaste top tier ones from Melee without any major changes... especially Falco, who was recloned!
  • Nerf Super armor was removed when it wasn't even broken.
  • Nerf Most changes to Brawl newcomers were good, but others were flatout unnecessary, such as making Lucario a turbo character or Wolf another shine-heavy spacie...
  • Nerf It isn't a really good idea to turn almost all meteor smashes into spikes when you can just remove meteor canceling. Again, regular meteors are pretty weak.
  • Nerf About air dodging and jump-canceled grabs, the same as in Melee.

General opinion: The definitive Melee.

Super Smash Bros. 4 Sm4sh

Obtainment (by retail for both): Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DSAt launch, albeit not by pre-order. / Super Smash Bros. for Wii UHad to wait for it until Christmas since Pokémon Omega Ruby came out at the same date and I decided to buy that one. I did, however, get the bundle including the Gamecube Adapter and a cool Smash Edition controller (which is the one I currently play with). • Buff Faster falling speeds and gravity along with the removal of random tripping, improving general movement.
  • Buff The much needed removal of hitstun canceling.
  • Buff Ledge trumping promotes more aggresive edgeguarding and can be used to set up punishes against people who always go for the ledge.

  • Buff Multi-hit attacks are more useful in general thanks to the reduced SDI in most of them.
  • Buff Meteor canceling is removed, ensuring that powerful meteors you land on an offstage foe will KO.
  • Buff Air dodges now have landing lag, preventing their overuse close to the ground, while they otherwise have less endlag allowing to retaliate quickly with an aerial after dodging.
  • Buff Removal of damage decrease on shields results in them being less safe against attacks if not powershielded, and with the increased shieldstun as of recent updates, shield breaks and stabs are thus more common, so they can no longer be as overused as in Brawl (less campy game: better).
    • Buff The decreased powershield window also makes this more common... although it has no effect on CPUs since they can still powershield everything fine x_x
  • Buff Zairs have better offensive use and longer reach for recovering, in addition to no longer being edgehog bait.
  • Buff Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Stage Builder is significantly better than in Brawl with the free terrain drawing and option to disable ledges from being grabbed, rather than having to resort almost exclusively to blocks with enforced grabbable ledges on all of them; the grid feature additionally allows for much simpler drawing and more perfection for designing stages to test game elements and mechanics.
  • Buff Improved online mode.
  • Buff Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 8-Player Smash is fun.
  • Nerf Why do characters survive even longer than in Brawl? Really lame that competitive matches are now played with just 2 stocks...
  • Nerf Recoveries are still very easy, and the quicker air dodges that can be easily spammed also make offstage edgeguarding hardly possible without ledge trumping.

  • Nerf Why don't Star/Screen KOs occur all the time anymore?
  • Nerf Wii U's Classic mode sucks, and I'm not really a fan of Target Blast.
  • Change While patches have generally done a great job buffing characters such as Ike, Meta Knight and Charizard that were awful at the release of the game, they still haven't helped other notably lackluster characters like Samus, Mewtwo and Dedede, and tend to bring up flatout unnecessary changes (such as the nerf to Luigi's aerial Cyclone) that do nothing but slow down the game's competitive scene growth. Please Sakurai, don't ever patch Lucario's Aura Sphere shieldbreaks!
  • Change Smash Run and Smash Tour are fine, but they should really let you change the level for CPU players, and the former would've been better with online play. The Smash Tour final battle should've also been a unique VS. mode option like All-Star Versus in PM.

General opinion: An amazing game with tons of content that fixed Brawl's messed up gameplay and did better than that game appealing to both casual and competitive players, and while it has its flaws, its vast character variety and large playerbase is enough for me to enjoy it competitively. Oh, the forever dumb Smash AI...
  • Can easily help others with work if they want, and might sometimes do it voluntarily, with my biggest help being on Serpent King's custom move project.
  • Fast typing speed with minimal amount of typos (the aforementioned help on Serpent's project was an exception though, lol).
  • Can provide vast knowledge on subject I know clearly about (like this).

Disadvantages

  • (Apparent) lack of familiarity among users in the wiki, so I might not get involved in discussions often.
  • No capture cards, so I can't get good-quality pics of Smash games without ripping them off random (most of the time) YouTube videos.
  • As I go to school, I might be online here but not actively improve the wiki due to work.

Subpages

Pokémon series

I'm also a huge enthusiast on the Pokémon games. The game I play the most frequently is Pokémon Omega Ruby, and I also play on the online simulator Pokémon Showdown.

  • My favorite Pokémon of all time is Nidoking, present on my profile and signature, and often having a big place in my team.
  • Other favorites of mine are Charizard, Tyranitar, Aerodactyl and Bisharp.
  • My favorite first-stage Pokémon is Tyrunt.
  • My favorite legendary Pokémon is Groudon.
  • Generation II is my favorite.
  • Some of my favorite moves are Earthquake and Ice Beam.

As for competitive play...

MEGA RAYQUAZA IS NOT THE ONLY POKÉMON WORTH ANYTHING IN ORAS.

Trivia

  • Spanish is my mother language.
    • Something that also aided me a lot in this was a Pokémon Handbook I had in Spanish with all the locations, types and attacks existing in Gen I, which I used to compare the names with the English ones in Pokémon Stadium, thus enabling me to translate words very quickly (e.g. "tipo Fantasma" to "Ghost-type", and "Lanzallamas" to "Flamethrower"). If I'm certain, it was this handbook.
  • I learned to read at the age of 4 thanks to interactive PC games.
  • I play all Smash games so far with Gamecube controllers (Smash 3DS being the obvious exception). In the case of SSB, I play it on Project 64 with a software enabling me to use the Wii U Gamecube Adapter on my PC.
  • My original game tag when I started playing the Smash games competitively was "Yesz!", as an anonymous joke name alluding to the amazing Captain I second in Melee. This was also the name I used for other games that require such, like the Zelda and Pokémon games.
    • My current game tag is "DREX" in Melee and Brawl/PM, and "DRexKing" in Sm4sh, so people can actually know who I am, since I never used the name "Yesz!" for any online games except Smash and the Gen 6 Pokémon games. For game series where you can't change your name after selecting it (like the Zelda and Pokémon series), though, I still use the name "Yesz!" for consistency.
  • My favorite color is red.
