How about something like the above template? I only changed the assist trophy and stages part as I'm not quite sure how the items would be handled. ::I think the navboxes are fine the way they are. And Toomai admitted that the more he thinks about it, the more unnecessary to split between games. The game sort was too gimmicky and took up too much space. The column split was to counter the previously template that had page breaks. I think the best template should either be alphabetized or in Toomai's order which does sort by universe (which we don't need because it's one universe on each template), games (without having to mark them), and availability. Under stages, Hyrule Castle comes first as it's the 64 stage, then Temple as it was introduced in Melee and returned in Brawl, then Great Bay as it's a Melee exclusive, then Bridge of Eldin as the starter from Brawl, Pirate Ship, the unlockable from Brawl, Skyloft the Wii U stage, Gerudo Valley the 3DS stage that starts with G, and finally Spirit Train, the 3DS stage that starts with S. :::Perhaps. Idk, it's just my opinion that the boxes look nicer when they are organized per game. Perhaps we could get more opinions of the method presented above. There's no columns, gimmicks, etc. Admittedly, I still don't know how the items and recurring Assist Trophies would be organized (or even if they'd be organized by game?). But if other people don't like that method, I can't think of any other way to organize them by game, and will lean towards Toomai's Order. Split SSB4 list[edit]

In order to better organize stages, I think we should split-up the SSB4 part of templates into Wii U and 3DS. Since as of now only the stages, that we know of, will be different between the Wii U and 3DS version so I will be using the Zelda universe template as an example:

As can be seen, the SSB4 part of the stage list splits into Wii U and 3DS. I think this is a better way to organize the stages as there will be different stages between the home console and handheld versions. What do you guys think about this? Unknown the Hedgehog 02:37, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

Neutral for now: I'll support this if it's rare to see a stage in both games. DoctorPain99 02:38, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

The general idea is not bad, but I say we keep this on the backburner until we have more to go on. Toomai Glittershine ??? El Pollo 11:28, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

It's true that this would be more useful when more stages are announced, but I was thinking it'd be implemented early so that a mass edit of all of the templates wouldn't have to take place later. Just my thoughts. Unknown the Hedgehog 12:28, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

I would like to bring this topic back into discussion as we have more to go on than we did before. Also, as a side comment, I personally believe the templates looked better organized when we separated the stages, items, etc. into their respective Smash Bros. games rather than what it is now with them all running together. That's just me. Unknown the Hedgehog 10:34, 25 April 2014 (EDT)

As has been attempted not long ago, we have to pick one between "ignore game disctinctions", "have bloated and lopsided rows", and "be unable to link to everything:". Given that this is a template primarily about the universe itself, I think ignoring game distinctions is the best idea. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Hammer 11:30, 25 April 2014 (EDT)

I tried to line them up, but I wasn't able to; that was the closest I could get them. Unknown the Hedgehog 12:16, 25 April 2014 (EDT)

How about something like the above template? I only changed the assist trophy and stages part as I'm not quite sure how the items would be handled. But this way, everything is still organized, and there's no lopsided columns or anything. Basically, this is exactly like how it is now, but with games inserted in with parentheses around the stages. After the failure of the split navboxes, let's just leave them as they are now. SeanWheeler (talk) 00:37, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
Well, I don't think that means we should stop finding a way that works with everything still organized. Also, Toomai, I changed the above template without parentheses to see how it looks. Unknown the Hedgehog 11:17, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
I think the navboxes are fine the way they are. And then alphabetize. For example, Tingle should come before Skull Kid and Midna because he was in Brawl while the latter two were from SSB4.
