Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon (リザードン, Rizādon), has been confirmed to return as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4, revealed with Greninja in a trailer during the April 8th, 2014 Nintendo Direct. Unlike in Brawl, where it was used as one of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon, it now appears as a stand-alone character. Charizard's skin appears to be a brighter orange and its proportions are more in-line with its recent three-dimensional appearances in the Pokémon franchise. For example, Charizard's fangs are smaller than they were in Brawl, which now makes them more proportional to their size in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
