Articuno (フリーザー, Furīzā, Freezer in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Articuno is a legendary Pokémon that can be summoned via a Poké Ball in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Articuno's appearance is rare due to its status as a legendary Pokémon, and general high power. Its chance of appearing out of a Poké Ball is highly increased in the event match Legendary Pokémon. Articuno uses Blizzard as its attack, where it will unleash a blast of frost from its body. Any character in Blizzard's attack radius will take 25% damage and be frozen for a few seconds, much like being affected by a Freezie. Characters that are affected by Articuno's Blizzard will also be sent towards the top of the screen with very high knockback; lighter characters could potentially be OHKO'd. Articuno's attack cannot harm the summoner.

The reason Articuno did not return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is unclear, but likely because Articuno's attack has a similar effect to that of Moltres, a Pokémon that appears in both Melee and Brawl.

Graceful and elegant, it boasts long tail feathers that flap in the wind and are lovely to behold.
