Birdo is part of the Mario universe and appears on the Mushroom Kingdom II stage. It also appears as a collectible trophy (which is needed to unlock the Mushroom Kingdom II stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee).

Role in the Super Smash Brothers games

Birdo will appears on either side of the screen of the Mushroom Kingdom 2 stage. It shoots three eggs from its mouth then exits on the side of the screen it came from. Any character that makes contact with the egg will take damage. The eggs can be shielded, jumped on, and air grabbed. Sometimes items come out of the eggs. It is possible to KO Birdo, but it will return to the stage later on. To KO Birdo, attack it with items and attacks. Birdo will flash the color blue when it takes damage. A few attacks will KO Birdo. No bonus points are rewarded for killing Birdo. Birdo's Egg can only be found in Kingdom II. When a Birdo appears on the stage and shoots eggs, they can be grabbed if timed right, and then thrown.

  • Does 24% when thrown normally
  • Does 49% and explodes when smash thrown
  • Breaks when used
  • Will rarely release an item
  • It is the only item which will always explode in one circumstance and never explode in another
