A Ticken (テキン Tekin) is an enemy in the Subspace Emissary and first appears in The Plain. Its name comes from the word "chicken". It looks like a giant, metallic chicken, though upon defeat, its "body" falls apart and reveals that a yellow bird was piloting the Ticken. The bird chirps, then flies away. The Ticken has two attacks, one where it flys into the air, and then attacks with an attack similar to the Bowser or Yoshi Bomb, which can bury, and another where it extends its spikes and rams the player. An easy way to turn a Ticken into a trophy is to use your Trophy Stand when it is at low health, from a distance, because it has no projectiles and a slow movement speed. If you go too far, the Ticken will break apart. Tickens are also very resistant to both projectiles and fire.
Trophy description
An enemy that looks like a chicken--quite a hefty chicken. But despite its weight, it can indeed fly. After taking a certain amount of damage, a Ticken will open up to reveal a little chick enemy. Notice the two bolts on its belly? And what's the deal with the four missing bolts? It probably hasn't even noticed they're missing.
Trivia
- The Ticken is probably a reference to enemies in some of the Sonic the Hedgehog games. When some of the enemies were defeated, an animal comes out. The same goes for this enemy.
- The fact that fire dosn't work well on Tickens could be a reference to the Pokemon ability Thick Fat, which halves the damage from Fire and Ice type moves.
