Wobbuffet resembles a punching bad. It has for small legs that helps it stand. Wobbuffet's whole body is blue. Wobbuffet's arms are usually at it's side but when summoned they make a salute gesture when it says its name. The eys of Wobbuffet are cross-eyed and it's mouth resembles a grimace. The most notable feature of Wobbuffet is it's black tail on the back of it's body. The black tail has two eyes on it but has nothing to do with Wobbuffet in the game.

Wobbuffet appears as a Poké Ball Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Wobbuffet uses Counter as its attack. Wobbuffet rocks back and forth when the player attacks it or hits it with an item. Any character that makes contact with Wobbuffet's Counter will take damage. If Wobbuffet hasn't been hit, contact with it will still cause very minor knockback, but will cause no damage. The power of Wobbuffet's Counter attack varies. If Wobbuffet is hit with a weak attack, it won't wobble a lot and will deal a small amount of damage. If Wobbuffet is hit with a strong attack, it will wobble more intensely and Counter will then cause more damage. Also, characters can get trapped in a Wobbuffet's Counter if it is not too powerful. Wobbuffet's attack harms both opponents and the summoner.

Role
Only certain types of items, namely battering and explosive items, will affect Wobbuffet. Other Pokémon will also not affect it, with the exception of Electrode (from the explosion) and another Wobbuffet (but only when it initially spawns and when it raises its arm to perform its cry). Containers will take damage, but will not cause Wobbuffet to wobble. Green and Red Shells won't affect it unless they are moving across the ground.

Wobbuffet (ソーナンス, Sonans) is a creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Origin[edit]

Wobbuffet's official artwork from Pokémon Gold and Silver.

Wobbuffet is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #202 as the "Patient Pokémon". It is notable for being, along with its pre-evolution Wynaut, the only Pokémon unable to learn any damaging move whatsoever (with the exception of the emergency move Struggle): its only way to directly damage its opponent is by counterattacking with Counter or Mirror Coat, or forcing a mutual KO with Destiny Bond.

Counter is a Fighting-type move. When its user is hit by an opponent's physical move, it deals double the damage received, without taking into account weaknesses or resistance. Wobbuffet knows the move by default.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

As a Poké Ball Pokémon[edit]

Wobbuffet in Melee.

In the Event Match Legendary Pokémon, Wobbuffet is the only non-Legendary Pokémon that will come out of Poké Balls, and while every legendary has their appearance rate doubled, Wobbuffet will appear for the remaining percentage of appearance rate. Wobbuffet's appearance as a common Pokémon in this event match is to discourage other characters from expecting a powerful legendary Pokémon. However, Wobbuffet can be useful in this Event Match. Characters that have a high damage percentage can be KO'd, with the Fighting Wire Frames that appear in the Event Match also struggling to avoid Counter.

As a stage element[edit]

Wobbuffet's appearance in Poke Floats.

A giant balloon of Wobbuffet (in actuality, the 3D model of Wobbuffet used in Pokémon Stadium 2 for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and moving "platforms" that make the Poké Floats stage. It appears from the side horizontally and jerkily.

Trophy[edit]

Wobbuffet is featured as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various single-player Regular Matches.
