Like the Kagaribi events, the event is also notorously stacked with Japan players, as all of the top 10 best players in Japan in 2023 (excluding Hurt) attended Umebura SP 10.<br>

Outside of #3 Glutonny, all of the top international players underperformed. For example, #5 Zomba, the other international player to be a top 8 seed, placed 9th after losing to #37 Toriguri 1-3 (Upset Factor 6) and #22 Doramigi 0-3 (UF 4), #15 ApolloKage placed 65th losing in the Snake ditto against #114 Ike 0-3 (UF 6) and losing to #162 Ocha 0-3 (UF 7) (his worst placement since GENESIS 9 one year ago), #21 Ouch!? placed 33rd losing to #12 KEN 1-3 and #65 VoiD 2-3 (UF 4) and #23 Raflow placed 33rd, losing to #10 Kameme 3-2 and #62 Gachipi 1-3 (UF 3). <br>

Conversely, two lower seeded international players greatly outplaced their seed. Firstly, #65 VoiD, at his first ranked event since Super Smash Con 2023 in August 2023, placed 17th with several good wins over #64 Chicken, Ouch and #36 Shirayuki, only losing to #1 Acola in winners and #8 Asimo in losers, his best result since his 5th place at Kawaii Kon 2023. #48 Cosmos also made a great performance to 17th place, scoring two upsets over #17 Tsubaki (UF 2) and #16 DIO (UF 3), his best run at a major since his 17th place  at Kagaribi 10.<br>

The first seed Acola, #2 Miya and #3 Glutonny are the only top 8 seed to enter top 8 as #4 Yoshidora (losing to #20 Umeki (UF 5) and Kameme (UF 3) in game 5 sets), and #6 Tea (losing to Doramigi 1-3 (UF 4) and #9 Shuton 0-3 (UF 2)) placed 9th, #8 Asimo placed 13th (losing to Shuton 2-3 and Zomba 1-3) and #7 Zackray placed 17th (losing to Kameme 0-3 and #11 Yaura 0-3).<br>

Outside of top 8 seeds, several top japanese players underperformed, such as #13 Kaninabe, eliminated at 33rd after losing very early to Aegis main and #269 DoubleA 1-3 for a Upset Factor 9, the biggest of the tournament, and #32 Snow 1-3 (UF 2), #14 Hero placed 65th losing to #51 M0tsunabE 2-3 (UF 4) and #35 Atelier 0-3 (UF 3) and #17 Tsubaki also placed 65th, losing to Cosmos and #64 Chicken (UF 3). Lastly, #19 Gackt lost to #275 Sin 0-3 (UF 8) and #30 Senra for 129th, his worst placement at a Smash event.<br>

Outside of Cosmos and VoiD, several other players made great runs, outplacing their seed and scoring wins over top players. For example, #75 Suinoko made one of the best Young Link post-pandemic performances alongside Toast's 3rd place at CEO 2022, as he placed 13th with wins over Nietono, Eik, Lax and M0tsunabE. #39 Alice's run was also notable, as he made one of the most impressive loser's run of the tournament. After being send to loser's early by Trigger, he defeated 7 players before losing to Yaura for 13th, with wins over TamaPDaifuku, Gorioka, Ryuoh and Taikei.<br>

In top 8, despite his lose to Glutonny 1-3 in winner's semifinals (the first time Glutonny has defeated Miya since Scuffed World Tour in December 2022) and his close set with Shuton in loser's quarters, Miya reached Grand Finals loser's side against Acola, who has easily defeated Glutonny and KEN both in 1-3. Glutonny lost the runback against Miya in loser's finals, ending his run at 3rd as the highest placing international player. Acola ultimately won the tournament, claiming a victory over his rival after 3 consecutives loses, and becoming one of the two first major winners in 2024 alongside Tweek with his first place at Luminosity Makes BIG Moves 2024.

Umebura SP 10 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate supermajor held in Ota, Tokyo, Kantō, from January 6th-8th, 2024.

Tournament summary[edit]

The tournament was the first premier-tier event of the 2024 season, and is currently the fifth-largest Ultimate tournament in Japan, as well as the largest tournament in the Umebura series. The event featured many players from outside of Japan, as well as the Japanese major debut for many notable players, including Glutonny, ApolloKage, Ouch!?, Raflow, and BassMage and a large amount of other French players too. Unlike most majors, which typically conclude on the weekend, Umebura SP 10's final day was on a Monday due to January 8th being a national holiday in Japan. Like the Kagaribi events, the event is also notorously stacked with Japan players, as all of the top 10 best players in Japan in 2023 (excluding Hurt) attended Umebura SP 10.

#48 Cosmos also made a great performance to 17th place, scoring two upsets over #17 Tsubaki (UF 2) and #16 DIO (UF 3), his best run at a major since his 17th place at Kagaribi 10.

The first seed Acola, #2 Miya and #3 Glutonny are the only top 8 seed to enter top 8 as #4 Yoshidora (losing to #20 Umeki (UF 5) and Kameme (UF 3) in game 5 sets), and #6 Tea (losing to Doramigi 1-3 (UF 4) and #9 Shuton 0-3 (UF 2)) placed 9th, #8 Asimo placed 13th (losing to Shuton 2-3 and Zomba 1-3) and #7 Zackray placed 17th (losing to Kameme 0-3 and #11 Yaura 0-3).

Lastly, #19 Gackt lost to #275 Sin 0-3 (UF 8) and #30 Senra for 129th, his worst placement at a Smash event.

After being send to loser's early by Trigger, he defeated 7 players before losing to Yaura for 13th, with wins over TamaPDaifuku, Gorioka, Ryuoh and Taikei.
