The following is a list of all on-screen appearances in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. All Melee debutants who returned in Brawl (Bowser, Peach, Zelda, Sheik, the Ice Climbers, Marth, Mr. Game & Watch, Falco, and Ganondorf) received new on-screen appearances in this game, as the feature was absent in the former.

Bowser[edit]

  • Emerges from a wall of flames.

Captain Falcon[edit]

  • The Blue Falcon spins to a stop, Captain Falcon jumps out, and then Blue Falcon speeds off. The animation differs depending on which direction he is facing; when facing right, he simply climbs out, while when facing left, he somersaults while doing so.

Diddy Kong[edit]

  • Breaks out of a Donkey Kong Country-style DK Barrel and claps his hands.

Donkey Kong[edit]

  • Breaks out of a Donkey Kong Country-style DK Barrel, grunts and makes a strongman pose.

Falco[edit]

  • Ejects from an upside-down Arwing.

Fox[edit]

  • Ejects from an Arwing.

Ganondorf[edit]

  • Emerges from a portal of dark magic. Based on how Phantom Ganon emerges from similar dark portals in his boss fight in Ocarina of Time.

Ice Climbers[edit]

  • The condor flies in with them hanging from his feet, then they jump off, high-fiving each other afterward. The high-five animation differs depending on which direction they are facing.

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball, then does a short, bouncy dance.

King Dedede[edit]

  • Is carried in on a palanquin by four Waddle Dees, then jumps off, scattering them.

Kirby[edit]

  • Appears from within a whirlwind and equips the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. Seemingly based on the warping animation seen upon using the Recorder in The Legend of Zelda.

Lucario[edit]

  • Teleports on stage, floats for a second, gathers aura in its hands then lands.

Lucas[edit]

Luigi[edit]

  • Jumps out of a Warp Pipe in a scared pose, anxiously saying "Let's-a go." His pose is similar to Luigi's face on the cover of Luigi's Mansion. Similar to Mario's appearance but his pose is different.

Mario[edit]

  • Jumps out of a Warp Pipe punching his right fist into the air while shouting "Let's-a go!". His pose is similar to his artwork from New Super Mario Bros.. Luigi's appearance is similar but different.

Marth[edit]

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic with a twirl and unsheathes his sword. Even though the pad in the entrance uses the same symbol by the Black Knight, Marth was never associated with this kind of magic in his games.

Meta Knight[edit]

  • Teleports in, wrapped in his cape. This is similar in appearance to his up taunt, and references how he exits the battlefield after being defeated in Kirby Super Star.

Mr. Game & Watch[edit]

  • Moves along a row of faded Game & Watch LCD frames until he reaches the foreground.

Ness[edit]

  • Arrives having used Teleport, then shakes off the soot he gathered after crashing.

Olimar[edit]

Peach[edit]

  • Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts, then winks and poses with her parasol saying "Hi!".

Pikachu[edit]

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball and emits sparks from its cheeks.

Pit[edit]

  • Appears onstage from a beam of light from the heavens while looking upwards.

Pokémon Trainer[edit]

R.O.B.[edit]

  • Assembles piece by piece as his parts drop from the sky. This may be a reference to his appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 3.

Samus[edit]

  • Arrives from a Super Metroid-style save point, though the design is somewhat altered.

Sheik[edit]

  • Appears in magical sparks.

Snake[edit]

  • Appears kneeling with lighting and sparks around him. He also appears to be turning visible.   • Rides in from the foreground on his bike, then falls off. The bike then explodes and Wario dusts himself off.

  • Breaks out of a Yoshi Egg and strikes a pose while shaking his tail. Even if a Yoshi is selected with a color other than green, he will still break out of a white egg with green spots regardless of what costume is being used. Based on Yoshi hatching from a Yoshi Egg in Super Mario World.

Zelda[edit]

Zero Suit Samus[edit]

  • Stands up from a kneeling position as her Power Suit falls off. Power Suit Pieces are scattered around Samus, which the player can then throw at their opponents.
