I kinda of neutral on this and the right stick could be a redirect page. When I said the tumbling animation, I was refering to the period where the character after being hit is falling or tumbling in the air, but can do any attack (but cannot air-dodge). Can it not? --Technomancer 03:05, August 6, 2006 (GMT)

A question I have wondered about[edit]

Even though I have read nothing that supports this, is there any smash community that believe its unfair to use the C-Stick? Back when I was in high school, I always heard people saying that "the C-Stick is cheap" or "only noobs use the C-Stick". Was this just people in my high school being complainant or are there actually competitive smashers out there who do not believe in utilizing the C-Stick? There's definitely people that think it's cheap. But I think once you get to the competitive level, you realize that there are some things you can't do without the C-Stick, like uairing without accidentally double jumping (with tap jump on) or short-hopping dairs. Agreed. It's unlikely that any professional players think the C-Stick is cheap. If there are any wii remote & Nunchuck players who say that, they should probably try using the pad at the top of the remote to do smash attacks (that's what I do). Mr. Anon (talk) 18:28, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

There are tons of scrubs that think the C-stick is cheap. You can find my writing on what I think of calling anything "cheap" here. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 20:02, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

So as I can see, it was the noobs themselves who believe the C-stick is cheap. Someone saying that Marth was cheap because "Fox is the best character and Marth could beat him" could be just the most ridiculous comment I have heard. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 04:33, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

C-stick failure?[edit]

When I was trying to master the knee lock with snake in training mode, I set the C-stick to perform tilts and tried to use that. However snake would consistantly only attack when he was in the air, using the c-stick on the ground only made him jump. Is this an actual training mode problem, or was this a mistake limited to the wii I was playing on. (Note: I did not just thrash the C- stick wildly.) 71.189.88.11 01:02, 1 September 2013 (EDT)

I have not heard of a problem like this happening. Have you tried changing variables such as controllers and controller port? Also, I think if you tilt the c-stick diagonally under certain settings, it will cause the character to jump. Don't quote me on that though. --Quilt (talk) 03:06, 1 September 2013 (EDT)

New Nintendo 3DS (XL)[edit]

Shouldn't we also talk about the New 3DS's C-stick ? --Wolfy76700 (talk) 16:57, 17 September 2014 (EDT)

We should. It is called a C-stick anyways. Rtzxy Signature SmashBall.jpeg Smashing! 16:59, 17 September 2014 (EDT)

Move proposal[edit]

I believe that this page should be moved to "Right stick". Currently, this article encompasses the function of all right joysticks, but is worded as though only the C-Stick exists, or as though all other right sticks are just a subtype of C-Stick, when in reality the C-Stick is just the name given to the right stick on the Gamecube controller specifically. This is, in my opinion, showing pretty blatant favouritism towards the Gamecube controller. Every official controller is valid, not just the ones commonly used in competitive play. Right stick functionality also exists on the Classic Controller, Gamepad, dual Joycon, and Pro-Controllers, and all said sticks in the controllers template link to C-Stick. In my opinion, this article should encompass all of these sticks, and not just the C-Stick, and thus shouldn't be named and worded as though only the C-Stick exists. Support[edit]

  1. Per above. Alex the Weeb 01:27, February 4, 2024 (EST)

Oppose[edit]

  1. Doesn’t every professional Smash player call it C-Stick for simplicity sake, even when you aren’t using a GC controller because it’s the name they are used to? Gligar2007sig1.pngGligar2007Gligar2007sig2.png 17:43, February 4, 2024 (EST)
Whether they call it that or not in my opinion doesn't change the fact that this article should discuss right sticks in general, and should not just be about the C-Stick. It's also worth noting that the majority of players are not competitive players, and many may not have even heard of the term "C-Stick". I don't see why competitive players should have a monopoly on what things are called. Also note that the other controller related articles already discuss buttons and control sticks in a neutral manner, and show the equivalents on all controllers, whereas this article only shows the C-Stick, and is explicitly about the stick on the Gamecube controller. This article does not follow the convention used by all the other controller articles on the wiki. Alex the Weeb 19:49, February 4, 2024 (EST)
  1. From a common terminology perspective, C-stick still feels correct. Even for Pro Controllers as you say, players usually call it the C-stick. It feels like right stick should be a redirect. - PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 11:19, February 10, 2024 (EST)
