The Melee Panda Global Rankings, or MPGR, was a power ranking done by PGStats and headed by PracticalTAS that ranked the top 100 players for Super Smash Bros. Melee. The MPGR was a successor to the SSBMRank that had handled the Melee power rankings since 2013. Despite this change, the ranking process was identical to how it worked previously, with the rankings being panel-based and featuring two rankings each year: a 50-player ranking to mark the half-way point of the year, and a whole-year ranking released in early January of the following year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MPGR was not made for 2020 and 2021, and MPGR Summer 2022 was for North America only. For 2021, a pseudo-ranking in the form of a tier list called MPGRContenders was made.
Following the dissolution of PGStats due to controversies surrounding Panda, as well as PracticalTAS passing the rankings down to wheat,[1] the rankings reverted back to the SSBMRank moniker.[2]
