When Simon and his Echo Fighter, Richter, were revealed on August 8, 2018, there was considerable hype for them due to their showcased strengths, including extremely high reach, an array of powerful projectiles, and ledge trapping potential. When the game released in December, some players viewed the Belmonts as a high tier, or potentially a top tier character because of their spacing and zoning ability allowing them to play an effective defensive game. Simon and Richter also were notable counterpicks for certain characters that struggle with range due to their spacing and keep away game. However, their weaknesses were soon discovered to be prominent, with a notoriously poor recovery due to situational recovery moves alongside low air speed, inconsistency in KOing, average frame data, poor mobility and a high skill ceiling. Thus, their results and viability dropped, with some players such as Mew2King, ZeRo, ESAM, and Armada relegating them to a mid tier or a low high tier. Simon, in particular, was considerably overshadowed by Richter in terms of tournament representation, though this was due to players' aesthetic preferences rather than any difference between them. However, many players would later drop Richter, and Simon would eventually gather more results from players such as TRIGGER, Cherry, and PreCookedBread. Though Simon has a noticeably better position in the metagame as time progressed, both characters' official tier placement remains unknown.

•  Asotil  - Placed 3rd at Ascension IX,Ascension VII and Ascension 2020: Back to Basics, 5th at Ascension VIII, and 9th at Ascension II with wins over players such as Prodigy, BassMage, and Widget. Currently ranked 4th on the Arizona Power Rankings.
•  Frosty  - Placed 5th at Retro Arena 64, 9th at Frosty Faustings XII 2020, and 13th at Midwest Arena with wins over Maister, MuteAce, and Ravenking. Currently ranked 5th on the Chicago Ultimate Power Rankings.
•  Greil  - Co-mains Richter with Wolf. Placed 2nd at Massilia Winter Smash 2020, 4th at Syndicate 2019, 7th at BURST 4, and 49th at Albion 4 using Richter with wins over Meru, Flow, and Light. Currently ranked 24th on the European Smash Rankings.
•  Riddles  (#47) - The best Richter player in the world before switching to Joker. Placed 9th at Saints Gaming Live 2019 and 13th at both Get On My Level 2019 and Super Smash Con 2019 ith wins over players like sets off of Dabuz, Jw, and Scend.
•  T3 DOM  - Considered the best Richter player in the world. Placed 7th at both 2GG: SoCal Chronicles 2020 and 2GG: All In, 33rd at both 2GG: SwitchFest 2019 and 2GG: Kongo Saga, and 49th at Shine 2019 wins over players such as Elegant,MastaMario, and MuteAce. Currently ranked 13th on the SoCal Ultimate Power Rankings.
•  TRIGGER  - The best Simon player in Japan. Placed 5th at Karisuma SP 8, 9th at TSC 11 and 33rd at both Umebura SP 5 and EVO Japan 2020. Has a win over Brave, Hikari, and T.
•  YoseFu  - Placed 5th at Kumite in Tennessee 2020 and 49th at DreamHack Atlanta 2019 with wins over Dietsoda and Makibaz. Currently ranked 3rd on the Tennessee Power Rankings. Online placed 3rd at GOML North American Open: South USA, 13th at Super Smash Galaxy, and 17th at SWT: NA Southeast Ultimate Online Qualifier.
