- In acknowledgement and out of respect for the murder of George Floyd and the riots and protests that followed, Nintendo has postponed the Super Smash Bros. Online Open May 2020 to a later date in the future.

- At The Online Olympus, SKITTLES!!, Wrath, and Maister take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Ultimate singles.

- It was announced on the official EVO Twitter account that EVO will be hosting an event known as EVO Online, following the cancellation of EVO 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was removed from both the special exhibition and the open tournament lineup and will not be featured at the event.
