This article is about the type of damage used in Brawl onwards. For the type of move, see Throw.
Split.png It has been suggested that this article or section be split into multiple pages or sections.
The reason given for the split is: There should be a separate page for Throw (type), as not all throw type moves are throws and vice-versa, but this page is still important because not all throws are from throwing moves. (Discuss)

Throwing is an attack type in the Super Smash Bros. series that encompasses all throws and certain other attacks which involve throwing an opponent.

Throwing attacks are boosted by Throwing Attack stickers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's The Subspace Emissary; the Strong Throw power in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS's Smash Run; and the Primary Spirit trait Throw Attack ↑, the Support Spirit skill Strong Throw, and certain Spirit Battle conditions in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate only attacks that are throws are boosted; attacks that are Throwing type but aren't throws (such as Diddy Kong's Monkey Flip) are unaffected.
