Raichu (ライチュウ, Raichu) is a Pokémon.
Origin
Raichu is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red Version, Green Version, and Blue Version, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #026 as the "Mouse Pokémon". It is the evolved form of Pikachu, and, in Pokémon Gold Version and Silver Version, became the final evolution of the Pichu evolution line.
In Pokémon Sun and Moon, several Generation I Pokémon received variations to accommodate for Alola's climate — among those was Raichu, who received an Electric/Psychic-type variation. Alolan Raichu has a tendency to use its tail as a makeshift surfboard while using its psychokinetic powers to float. This may be a callback to how Pikachu could learn Surf in Pokémon Stadium, and how evolving it into Raichu would also make it use their tail as a makeshift surfboard.
Alolan Raichu's attack in Ultimate is similar to its signature Z-Move, Stoked Sparksurfer, where it rides on its tail and tackles into the opponent with an electric charge, heavily damaging the opponent.
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Raichu was briefly mentioned in the Palutena's Guidance for Pikachu, when Viridi talked about Pikachu's evolutionary family.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
“ | He rides his tail and rushes the enemy. Since he moves freely around the stage, Alolan Raichu may be a bit difficult to dodge. | ” |
—Super Smash Blog, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Official Site |
Raichu appears in its Alolan Form as a Poké Ball summon. Using its tail to surf around the stage, it attacks opponents in its path with electricity.
Alolan Raichu cannot be summoned on Onett or Spirit Train.

Trivia
- Raichu is the first Poké Ball summon to be in the same evolutionary line as a Pokémon playable in the same game, in this case both Pikachu and Pichu.
