Template:Character Solid Snake (ソリッド・スネーク, Soriddo Sunēku) is a character appearing in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Instead of using guns like in the real games, he'll be using explosives and the cardboard box used in the trailer. He is the first third-party character to appear in any Super Smash Bros. game. His appearance is based on Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (which was never released on a Nintendo system) Based on the most recently released trailer, Snake will have an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) that he will use during gameplay. Other footage hints at a thrown grenade attack, later confirmed to be his Neutral B move. It is possible that his Down B move is going to be his Cardboard Box, but this is merely speculation. It does seem highly likely though. Some speculated that it was his shield, similar to how Yoshi's shield is an egg; however, a recent screenshot has shown Snake throwing off his cardboard box and Mario being thrown back, so this is simply further proof that it is his Down B move, rather than his shield. One screenshot appears to have him planting a mine in the dirt, although whether this is an item or a special move remains to be seen.

Snake has been seen using physical moves that look similar to those of Captain Falcon. His Smash attacks apparently utilize various equipment, like his B moves, according to the site. It also looks as if Snake could be a floaty character.

Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid, wished Sakurai (or "begged" according to Sakurai, himself) to include Snake in SSBM, but it was too late to do it at that time.

Sakurai has stated that he feels it would be appropriate that a "guest" character such as Snake should need to be unlocked, so it is likely that Snake will be a secret character, rather than a starter.

Interestingly, Snake is the only character whose official art on Smash Bros. DOJO!! portrays him in a different pose than his original art from his old profile.
