Show preview[edit]
Hi! First of all, welcome. It's great to see you taking an interest in contributing to the wiki. Whether you edit the wiki for years, or just one day, it is appreciated.
You recently made a series of edits to the Brawl article. While it's great to see your enthusiasm, making a series of edits in this way can cause disruption. This is because each edit occupies space in recent changes and watchlists, and it makes it harder to get a clear view of the sum of your edits. You can avoid this by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, and editing all the sections you intend to change in one go, using the show preview button in the editing window to preview your edits as you go along. See the page I linked for more information. Alex the Weeb 15:37, May 22, 2022 (EDT)
Inappropriate username[edit]
Accordiong to the Wikitaniary definition of your username, your username is inapprtate. 174.55.24.64 21:37, June 11, 2022 (EDT)
Ok. I sincerely apologise, and I appreciate you letting me know. How can I contact a bureaucrat to get it changed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pingas (talk • contribs) 10:53, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
- You can find a list of bureaucrats here. Pick one on the active list, go to their talk page, create new section (can name it Rename request for simplicity), and request a username change. Per the policy you'll be asked to come back a few days later to confirm the name you chose. --CanvasK (talk) 11:05, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
Thanks! But um, I might just be missing something but this is just saying what bureaucrats are. Sorry I’m probably making this very difficult…
Wait! Nvm I see the list —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pingas (talk • contribs) 13:02, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
[Edit conflict] Please remember to sign your comments by typing out 4 tildes (~~~~). Bureaucrats are a special type of admin who among other things have the power to rename users. As for the username, I don't think it's really a problem, personally. I've seen worse usernames being allowed by the admins. Alex the Weeb 13:06, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
Oh wow. I don’t see how those names are approved but a Sonic meme that only slightly means something else is bad. And I didn’t to the whole sign thing was bc I didn’t think it was a good idea until I got my username changed. Sorry about that! User:Pingas 13:22 June 12, 2022 (EDT)
This username is fine, we're not so prudish that we ban any names with the slightest hint of vulgarity, people gotta stop reporting such innocuous names and only do so for names that are a clear problem or are outright vile. Here is the actual username policy since it hasn't been linked. Omega Tyrant 17:38, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
Alright, thanks. And I agree. People can get so offended by the slightest things. My username could've been much worse. Pingas really isn't that bad of a word Pingas (talk) 21:07, June 12, 2022 (CT)
Not that bad[edit]
Look, guys. My username is not inappropriate. Pingas may sort of sound like something else, but the word has been used for so many different things, it barely even means that anymore! I'm not talking about the drug, and I'm not saying...that... either (I don't think I can say it on this wiki), so it's fine. Pingas (talk) 21:12, June 12, 2022 (CT)
- You need to let this go now. You've been told you can keep your username. Stop repeatedly posting about it after the matter is already resolved. There is no need to respond to this message. Alex the Weeb 21:13, June 12, 2022 (EDT)
Removing talk page messages[edit]
This is the third time you've removed old talk page messages. Per SW:TALK: "When it comes to removing your talk page comments, you are to never delete them[...]if you made a statement or said anything you wish to retract, you may add strike tags <s></s> to the offending portion of the comment to signify this". For future reference, don't remove talk page messages, they need to stay there for archiving purposes. Alex the Weeb 15:29, June 13, 2022 (EDT)
