Top level[edit]

I recommend you reading Template:Infobox Smasher, specifically it's parameter page, as to who should be considered "top" or "upper high" level. While we are still discussing WaDi and Salem, Toast currently does not warrant the top level due to his inconsistency and having only top 8'd 2 majors out of the countless he attended, while ZeRo ending outside of the top 30 on his only SSBMRank appearance certainly does not warrant top level either. Also do not revert people without explanation again, and we're currently in the process of trying to make top level designation on the wiki actually meaningful after it has been diluted to hell on here, you must discuss upgrading people's skill rating to top level before doing so, whether in the discord server or on the smasher's talk page. I didn't mention why I made changes because I didn't want to get personal or opinionated. However, I would like to ask about ZeRo and mention something about LeoN. I question why ZeRo is not considered a top level player in comparison of Esam who is. Now for LeoN, someone made a change to the ranking while also stating that the reason for this is because he never gotten top 8 in a supermajor during his peak which literally isn't true. Anyways thanks for giving me more of a idea on how to contribute to this website. Notsmashfanatall (talkcontribs) 23:08, April 7, 2023 (EDT)
We had discussed LeoN and decided against it because he wasn't regularly top 8'd majors. In Ultimate he's only gotten top 8 in two Temple and Poet Priority 6. We discussed a fair amount though as he was one of the borderline cases being debated alongside others like Storder, moxi and Akakikusu. Sorry if my edit came across as confusing, as it wasn't intended to imply he never got top 8 at a supermajor, only that he wasn't regularly achieving that feat. Regarding ESAM and melee, he probably just hasn't been reviewed yet. We only made the change in language this past week. Upper high level is a new category so it's a change we have to manually make and the wiki had well over 1000 players listed as top level so it will take time. Regarding Esam in Melee, it's what Wiifitkid said, there are a ton of "top level" players to get through still (this handy link shows how many there currently are), I simply haven't looked at Esam's page yet when I downgraded Zero in Melee (and that's the case for almost any other player if "why X but not Y?" is asked). I can assure Esam certainly won't be keeping the "top level" rating in Melee either. Also remember to sign your talk page posts by putting four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comment. Gonna bump you on this as well, since I noticed you made the change twice to Neo. While he has placed top 8 at 2 pretty stacked supermajors, they seem like outliers of the season, as the majority of his other major he didn't place top 16. To be more specific, out of the 12 majors he attended this year, 2 were top 8, 2 were top 16, 5 were top 32, and 3 were outside top 32. Top level is usually used for those who can consistently place top 8 at majors and are threats to taking a major; while Neo has a really solid resume and will be a top 50 player this year, his results don't really show him as a consistent threat to top 8 a major, much less win one.
