A machinima is the usage of recording gameplay footage of video games in order to create a narrative of some sort. Machinima in the Super Smash Bros. series typically involves recording footage of gameplay and controlling or editing the resulting footage to a predetermined script or outline. Footage is often obtained by using Camera Mode, Replays, or other methods; particularly sophisticated productions may also use hacks to further modify potential footage, such as by removing damage percentages or using "actors" that ordinarily cannot be played as.
