National tournament[edit]

It’s a national tournament not regional or anything else IBexal (talk) 02:37, September 10, 2019 (EDT)

To tackle the points brought up in the revision history (since the initial post here is simply a case of proof by assertion):
1. It had over 100 entrants (the number of entrants wasn't mentioned, but it seemed to be implied): A tournament having 100+ entrants does not automatically make it a national, or else there would be so many more tournaments that would be classified as such.
2. It was the largest tournament ever held in New Zealand: I've seen the phrase "national for New Zealand" (or some variation of it) come up in the revision history a few times. While I understand the logic behind calling it a national by this definition, this wiki doesn't really refer to tournaments as nationals relative only to the country that it's hosted in (New Zealand) more so than the broader region as a whole (Oceania). It had plenty of attendance from NZ, but not much outside of it, with over 85% of the players in the Top 32 being from NZ.
3. "I don't think the PGR has any say in defining the borders of a country.": This is closely connected to the second point. However, to comment on the PGR point in particular, as a general rule the wiki has only categorized B-Tier tournaments or higher as nationals ever since the TTS was established for the PGR during the Smash 4 era (and even then, a B-Tier might not be listed as such on rare occasions). An exception was only made for a few C-Tiers last season since the TTS for it relied solely on entrant numbers due to there being no rankings yet (tournaments like Collision were more stacked than most of the B-Tiers, for example). As it stands, Biggie II doesn't reach C-Tier (which are almost never included as it is), let alone B-Tier. I don't think the PGR is perfect by any means, but it's a good starting point for nationals, at least. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 07:59, September 10, 2019 (EDT)
