Smash Fest (sometimes shortened to Smashfest) was a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament held in Fonsorbes, a city in France near Toulouse, on May 22nd, 2004. This was the first SSBUP tournament to use the double-elimination bracket format.

FormatEdit

The tournament began with a 3-stock, best of 3 Pools phase. Top 16 advanced to a 4-stock, best of 5 double-elimination bracket, with Top 3 sets being best of 7. Tiebreakers were played for 5th and 7th place.

  • Nintendo France supplied the tournament organizers with prizes to be given out for players in the Top 8. These included:
    • A copy of Pokémon Colosseum for the Nintendo GameCube and an E3 2004 Nintendo T-Shirt for first place;
    • Copies of Pokémon Colosseum for second, third, and fourth place;
    • Game Boy Advance screen cleaning kits for fifth and seventh place.
  • Marth_atak received the MasterLink Award for this tournament, earning him an additional screen cleaning kit.
