Melee Fighting Road 2002 was a series of Super Smash Bros. Melee tournaments held by Nintendo throughout Japan in early 2002. The circuit was announced in November 2001 on the monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine, and consisted of seven qualifiers followed by the final championship. The first four qualifiers were held in various cities at the Next Generation World Hobby Fair, a video game and toy exhibit run by the magazine's publisher Shogakukan, while the last three as well as the championship were held in other venues.
Similar to Premium Fight, the ruleset was 2-minute free-for-alls with items on. The winners of each event would then compete in the final at Hiroshima for the title of best Melee player in Japan. Most information about the event has been lost.
