40 different templatesEdit
Can be combined into one, you know. Let's just have a template called {{MvSubNav}} and have the parameters as such:
{{MvSubNav|char=x|zair=y/n|ncombo=1/2/3/1inf/2inf/3inf/4inf|g=game}}
The only parameter in that explanation that may need explaining is the ncombo one. It refers to the type of neutral attack. "1inf" is Meta Knight's combo. 2inf is hit>inf. 3inf is hit>hit>inf. And 4inf is the gentleman. Adding on we should make the background of the template something from the Hue Hub, except in the case of Mario, where both of his colors interfere with both blue and red links.
My reasoning for this is that 40 templates take up much more space than needed, and with the tiny amount of moveset subpages we have so far, I guess we could have a bot go over the pages and replace the templates or something. I don't know how you guys will like the idea but here goes anyway.Qwerty the lord 19:02, 11 July 2014 (EDT)
- This is not a bad idea, but there are two reasons why I don't think it should be implemented:
- It requires information (that is, the parameters of jab count etc) to be used in the same way on every page. Not too long ago the special moves template was like this, and there was always some sort of inconsistency between the pages it was used on. I mean, have a look at the code of Template:MvSubNavSamus; I wouldn't want to have to include all that on every relevant page.
- Having a template per character is not really a problem. Each of the templates is quite small compared to many other things on the wiki, and in many cases simplicity of use is more important than number of templates. Toomai Glittershine The Celeritous 22:53, 11 July 2014 (EDT)
- Can we at least go along with the hue hub thing?Qwerty the lord 12:19, 14 July 2014 (EDT)
- We don't currently have a...reputation (for lack of a better word) for having character-coded colours in mainspace. If in future we decide to do that kind of thing, this would certainly be one of the places for it. Toomai Glittershine The Free 12:50, 14 July 2014 (EDT)
