Template talk:Mii costumes
I think this is useful. also will you mainspace User:Nutta Butta/Inkling plz thank you ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 22:04, 26 June 2015 (EDT)
- I was gonna if nobody objects in the next day or so. Also, I'm planning a corresponding category along the lines of "Mii costume characters". Miles (talk) 22:33, 26 June 2015 (EDT)
Should we change it to not be downloadable only and add the non-DLC hats? Like Peach, Sheik, Daisy, Samus, etc.? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 17:03, 27 June 2015 (EDT)
- I had that initially, but that would entail adding a lot of extra notes to a lot of extra pages, with questionable value to doing so. It also gets into weird gray areas (is Red Shell a costume "character"?) that I just didn't want to bother with. I figured this was an easier way to delineate what's notable and what's not. Monster Hunter[edit]
I'm already second-guessing myself, but bear with me here; before re-adding it, and before the relevant page is created, I want to get others' thoughts. I don't really know the series at all, but I am not sure what to do in the case of a conflict between what Smash calls the player character versus what the source series calls them. Miles (talk) 03:20, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- In the monster Hunter franchise a players avatar is specifically called the Monster Hunter in the games booklets, game websites, by the NPC's, and by the people who play the series. You said so your self, you know nothing about the monster hunter franchise, so you honestly wouldn't know that. Take from someone who actually has played the games casually, and am friends with those who play it religiously, calling it just "Hunter" is misleading and falsely labeling the character. Having it be "Monster Hunter" over just "Hunter" is more accurate and true to the franchise. Not to mention when people search for this thing online, this will get more search results this way over just 'Hunter'. a Hunter can be referenced to anything, while 'Monster hunter' is more specific and likely to show up in search results.
Ixbran (talk) 03:36, 30 September 2015 (EDT)- I apologize for the confusion, I didn't realize "Hunter's Mail" was referring to the name of a particular equipment set from the series and not simply using "Hunter" as a character title. Shows what I get for not researching a little bit more first. Miles (talk) 03:44, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- You're fine hon, there's no need to apologize. You honestly didn't know, which is why I came to explain it. I apologize if I came off as a little rude with my explanation. Was a tad irritated when typing it. But what matters now is that we were able to get the situation cleared up, so it's all good ~♥
Ixbran (talk) 03:51, 30 September 2015 (EDT)- Yeah so uh. Just want to make sure you're aware: your phrasings in that reply there are kind of creepy. Take that as friendly advice. Miles (talk) 04:01, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- I'm sorry, what? I'm confused. Care to explain why?
Ixbran (talk) 04:03, 30 September 2015 (EDT)- "hon" and "~♥" are weirdly flirty and that's not really an advisable way to talk to someone you don't really know. I'll leave it at that. Miles (talk) 04:06, 30 September 2015 (EDT)
- "Hon" is the term i use to refer to people i consider friends, or respect, and the heart was used because of the fact we were able to deal with the issue without it resolving into a fight. Coming off as flirty was not my intent, but I'll take what you say into consideration.

"Bionic Armor"[edit]
I was watching the direct on my phone while cooking dinner and I looked away for a second when they were talking about costumes, but I saw one for Galactic Federation Marine armor, called "Bionic Armor", from Metroid. Was I seeing things? RoyboyX Talk 19:05, 15 December 2015 (EST)
- No, I saw it too. Pika, Chilly! 19:07, 15 December 2015 (EST)
Remove the "downloadable" moniker[edit]
Ultimate will introduce new character-based costumes in the base game (Splatoon 2 Inklings, Lip...). Should they be included here? Also, should this be separated by game? --Menshay (talk) 13:49, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
Let me propose a few possibilities:
- Remove the "downloadable" part and keep the rest intact, and add all SSBU costume characters to this template, leaving it sorted by Mii Fighter type.
- Remove the "downloadable" part, and add all SSBU costume characters to this template, but sorting it by game instead of by Mii Fighter type.
- Clarify that this is only for SSB4 and make a separate, analogous template for SSBU costume characters.
Thoughts? Miles (talk) 16:16, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
- Bumping on the same day is usually frowned upon, but since people are making pages for the SSBU costume characters I think this should be resolved sooner as opposed to later. Miles (talk) 21:42, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
- Option 1 is my personal preference. Nyargleblargle (Contribs) 21:49, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
- For what it's worth, 3 is my preference. But I'd like more feedback before deciding on anything. Miles (talk) 00:22, 2 November 2018 (EDT)
- 3 would go by game just like the items and stages. 2 would only work if you placed the stock icons of each Mii fighter right next to the specific Mii Fighter character but Ultimate lacks separate ones so far. But we aren't sure if all DLC Mii outfits return in Ultimate yet, if its the case then you can use the stock icon by the game they were introduced in. (I've seen this with the Final Smash section specifically.) 1 could be used like the similar Mii Fighter Stock icon case or maybe using a table separated by game like a table separator of the outfits in Sm4sh and Ultimate However its worth noting that I could see this being used since Miis are not really that popular so I think 1 should be used. --MinorEdits (talk) 22:08, 3 November 2018 (EDT)
I'd appreciate more input, people. The SSBU costume character pages are a mess right now and resolving this one way or another would be a step towards improving them. :v Miles (talk) 19:24, 5 November 2018 (EST)
Why were the templates merged?[edit]
Not all hats have returned from SSB4, and even if they were, this change should not have been made without a discussion. Rdrfc (talk) 05:07, August 8, 2021 (EDT)
- Because the templates of Playable characters and Assist Trophies are so, even if they don't return in all games. and merging can distinguish which are new.--Capstalker (talk) 05:18, August 8, 2021 (EDT)
I severely disagree with the merging of the templates. We still have separate templates for other things which appear on a game-by-game basis and I strongly urge that we restore the templates to where they were immediately. Miles (talk) 13:21, August 8, 2021 (EDT)
