The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters. |
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Please also fix old results on Smasher pages that do not abide to this standard. Refer to our Smasher article guidelines to see how results tables should be formatted. |

Talk:Wind
Wind caused by attacks that are not explosions[edit]
This. We should expand on what attacks can create a wind effect, such as the shine trap. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 23:00, 3 October 2012 (EDT)
The current page and the push/vacuum merge[edit]
The current page is being used to describle both aesthetic wind and stage-wide functional wind. Since I think it's okay to cover both in one article, why can't we merge push and vacuum into here so it also covers move-specific functional wind? Split[edit]
So this is something that has been bugging me for a while now. Simply put, windboxes (or hitboxes with the push effect) really should not be lumped into the same category as wind from stage hazards, as they are 2 different things. The push effect is a type of hitbox modifier that alters the way knockback works, applying launch velocity as usual but with no hitstun, aside from this it is knockback, and so I feel it should have its own page. Wind in stages is very different, it is a constant pushing effect that is not induced by knockback, and is calculated and coded completely differently. Furthermore it does not even cause KOs on the upper blast line like windboxes do (and why should it, it's not knockback after all). Additionally 2 of the examples on this page aren't even wind effects at all but rather gravity effects, but that's a different issue entirely. Overall, I think it is misleading, confusing and dishonest to lump windboxes and wind into the same category, it would be like lumping hitstun and hitlag into the same category. They may sound similar, but in truth they are completely different things. Indeed there is also a significant number of people who I have seen be confused about the difference between windboxes and wind, and this is a misconception whose spread is most likely being assisted by our careless lack of distinction between the two. That's why I have tagged the page, and Support the separation of these vastly different things into different pages. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 14:08, 9 February 2018 (EST)
Support. I think the wind effect and special hitboxes with a push effect should be separated due to their completely different properties, which Alex mentioned already above. Zeckemyro (talk) 14:31, 9 February 2018 (EST)

Support, since I find all these arguments suitable to make a page for windboxes. Iron Reggie, Master of Memes 00:49, 14 February 2018 (EST)

I'd say we are fine to go forward with this, but it is something that needs to be done carefully. Serpent King 19:15, 18 May 2018 (EDT)
