Talk:Villager (SSB4)
Spelling[edit]
As this is a protected article, and I'm a new user, well, there's a spelling error.
'Miscellaneous' is spelled in the opening sentence of the article.
I can't edit the page, of course, so I'd like someone with permissions to correct the error, if you will. Jigglypuff the Magic Dragon (talk)
- You need to become autoconfirmed before you can edit semi-protected articles. Scr7(talk · contribs) 13:09, 14 September 2013 (EDT)
- Thank you, and I am indeed aware of the rules of autoconfirmation, but my intention was more to alert a user with sufficient permissions to correct the area. I don't think that anyone wants the mistake to persist for a week. Jigglypuff the Magic Dragon (talk) 13:14, 14 September 2013 (EDT)
His Fireworks[edit]
I hate to break in, but the fireworks he uses are actually based on the fountain firework from New Leaf. You drop it on the ground and it erupts. 75.141.44.196 10:47, 22 February 2014 (EST)
The Special Move Template Needs One Change[edit]
I'm planning on making the Balloon Trip page for the Villager's Up Special. However on the template, the move is Balloon Fight, and links to the stage. Can this be fixed so that I can create the page? Mathwiz86 10:30 PM 11, April 2014 (EST)
- You would need to edit and update the template for the Villager's special moves accordingly. Lasifer 22:46, 11 April 2014 (EDT)
Artwork?[edit]
The artwork for female Villager is a rip from one of the screenshots, not official artwork. Same applies to Male Wii Fit Trainer. Nutta Butta (talk) 16:23, 9 June 2014 (EDT)
Voice?[edit]
Am I hearing things, or is Villager saying "Thanks Tom" here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Laniv (talk • contribs) 10:41, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
- I will be damned. I hear it too. Aidan the Average Gamer (talk) 10:44, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
- That is creepy! Does he scream as he enters a Star KO? The Smash Brotha (talk) 12:25, 5 August 2014 (EDT)
- Supposedly they also talk in this video, although I'm not sure I can hear it. Around 1:00 - 1:15 maybe? Did Villager actually have a voice before the game came out? User:TeddyBearYoshi (talk) 9:32, 20 May 2016 (EST)
- This talk page topic was from over a year ago. Please don't respond to old talk page topics. Disaster Flare (talk) 21:33, 20 May 2016 (EDT)

Trivia[edit]
The trivia section says that the Villager is the only newcomer to be on both the 3DS and Wii U versions, but isn't the fighter roster the exact same on both versions? 68.119.28.72 02:37, 28 September 2014 (EDT)
- You misread it. It's that he's the only newcomer on the cover art of both versions. Miles (talk) 02:51, 28 September 2014 (EDT)
Ice Climbers Crowd Cheer[edit]
I think this needs further researching, because here, it states that the crowd cheers for the Ice Climbers against Dr. Mario, but on The Cutting Room Floor, it states that it is in the Murabito sound files. Arbd22 (talk) 23:34, 15 November 2014 (EST)
- Murabito is the Japanese name for the Villager... that might be why Kenniky 19:23, 8 December 2014 (EST)
Error?[edit]
In the special moves section it says that Balloon Trip does damage, which it definitely does not do. The article is semi-protected though; someone fix that? Kenniky 19:24, 8 December 2014 (EST)
- You are doubly mistaken. The custom variants of Balloon Trip do damage, but the default is correctly listed as doing 0%; additionally, the page isn't protected and hasn't been for nearly two months. Miles (talk) 12:32, 26 February 2015 (EST)
Update Section is Confusing[edit]
"Villager can longer pocket Sonic's spring." What does this mean? Can he pocket these items for a longer period of time, or is it supposed to say "can NO longer"? 70.68.71.94 19:01, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
The Villager's name[edit]
I noticed that the Villager is the only character (as far as I know) whose name in Japan is written in hiragana. (Viridi makes note of this in his Japanese Palutena's Guidance.) Are there any other characters who fit that bill? Laniv (talk) 20:19, 15 December 2015 (EST)
Magnetic Pocket glitch; Pocket items from long distances[edit]
I was checking out my old miiverse comments & found a couple of things of interest.

This was before Mewtwo was available. I've no idea how or why it happened, or if it's still possible. Is this worth mentioning anywhere? Unowninator (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2015 (EST)
"axe meme"[edit]
I don't condone the IP edit-warring over it, but I do agree that it should go. It's really not that notable, and the claim that the Bayo poster is referencing it is speculative and doubtful. Discussed here. Miles (talk) 14:23, 15 June 2016 (EDT)
- The Bayo one should go, yes, but I'd have to dispute your claim that the Killager meme isn't notable. Multiple meme sites have Killager mentioned, a Google search of "Killager" produces 17,600 results, and it's also mentioned in several combo videos, even by some notable smashers themselves if I recall correctly. While it's nowhere near as notable as Captain Falcon in general in terms of memes, it's grown to become a very well-known meme among the Smash community, which is why I don't just let the IP have their way. Disaster Flare (talk) 14:39, 15 June 2016 (EDT)
- Bumping this. Again, the edit warring is ridiculous, but if the only justification for it is "it was widespread for a little bit" that's not really enough. Miles (talk) 23:26, 9 July 2016 (EDT)
- It's probably the most widespread, well-known, and memorable meme of SSB4 and it hasn't really stopped, just slowed down a lot in terms of referencing but still well-established among the community. MuteSpittah (talk) 15:06, 10 July 2016 (EDT)

Trivia[edit]
It says that Villager has the most sex kicks, but Link is tied with him and Pac-Man has more than him according to the sex kick page Veledwin1 (talk) 21:08, May 21, 2019 (EDT)
His Name is Incorrect[edit]
In Smash, why is this character called "Villager?" In Animal Crossing, the Villagers are the animal characters that you interact with. Shouldn't he instead be called "Player?"--Dogleader (talk) 09:34, December 6, 2021 (EST)
- First off, conversations should be further down the talk page the more recent they are.
- Second, they probably went with "Villager" since it's a much less generic identifier for the Animal Crossing player character than just simply "Player" (which could literally apply to other avatar fighters such as Hero, Pokémon Trainer, or Inkling), though that's still just speculation.
