Talk:Unconventional meteor smash

This is not true. Master Hand & Crazy Hand does not have attacks that is a unconventional meteor smash. Jetstream tail has a disjointed hitbox and it allows to meteor smash player off stage. When I was playing classic mode with Peach & Jigglypuff I noticed his Jetstream has a disjointed hitbox so it hits the character offstage. I tested with Mr. Game & Watch on event 50 & Master hand was able to meteor smash players offstage with Flying Punch. Power Punch can meteor smash player that hangs on a ledge for too long. Drill has to be close to the other ledge because it sends opponents downward sideways. Luigi540 (talk) 23:35, 7 June 2012 (EDT)

Ike's Eruption

Ike's Eruption, when hit by the tip of the sword, is actually a meteor smash, even in midair. I continually do that to the sandbag in the waiting room to improve the timing while killing time. Yes, it is hard to pull off, but it's not impossible. Eruption, in general, has the same effect to grounded and airborne opponents. F1reBurn1ng (talk) 15:27, 10 July 2012 (EDT)

Super Scope

In Melee I noticed at extreme percentage, the super scope's shots cannot trap opponent that long and it actually sends them upwards because it has a very low knockback growth. Not only it can be used for trapping opponents, you can actually land a meteor smash hitbox against aerial opponents. 98.220.74.197 20:08, 27 April 2014 (EDT)

"An unconventional meteor smash is an attack that has a downwards knockback angle but is not intended to KO opponents by meteor smashing them. While it is possible to gain meteor KOs with these attacks, they are implausible at best, and exist for an alternate purpose."

In that specific clip, the angle is shallow and is more of a semi-spike. However, since the launch angle depends on Meta Knight's angle, it can meteor if he angles himself downwards (has to be very steep and is very weak). --CanvasK (talk) 19:00, August 6, 2023 (EDT)

Going frame-by-frame, he was hit with the base of the Keyblade, which has a Sakurai angle. The low knockback means it was 0 degrees. He was sent horizontally for a bit then gravity brought him down. The second hit was followed by BK fast falling. Not a meteor in any sense, just a gimp. --CanvasK (talk) 05:43, August 15, 2023 (EDT)
